Misschien ben je op weg naar het zuiden al eens door Zuid-Tirol gereden - over de snelweg, met de auto. Misschien heb je al geraden hoe mooi het landschap tussen Tirol en de zee is. Maar een fietsvakantie in Zuid-Tirol zal zeker een hele nieuwe wereld voor je openen. Tussen Merano en het Gardameer liggen fantastische fietspaden die je spannende tochten bieden - langs ijswerelden, bergketens, boomgaarden en wijngaarden. Laat Zuid-Tirol letterlijk in je mond smelten, want de wijnen en het fruit van Caldaro zijn wereldberoemd. Wil je je auto inruilen voor een Eurobike fiets? Prachtig, want deze fietstocht is ideaal voor beginners!

Altijd langs de Adige, altijd een beetje bergaf - en dus met een zeker gevoel van rugwind: dit is de fietsroute van Merano naar het Gardameer. De zevendaagse fietstocht door Zuid-Tirol is vooral populair bij recreatieve fietsers en beginners, omdat de route gemakkelijk is en genoeg tijd biedt voor sightseeing en ontspanning.
Nuttige informatie over een fietsvakantie door Zuid-Tirol
Het startpunt van de fietstocht is het mediterrane kuuroord Merano. De beste manier om van de zonsondergang te genieten op de promenade is met een glas wijn! De volgende dag begint de fietsweek met een rit over de Venostaspoorweg richting de Resia-pas. De dagelijkse tochten zijn tussen de 30 en 70 kilometer lang en gaan over voornamelijk vlakke paden. Er zijn alleen kleinere klimmetjes naar het Caldaro meer en het Gardameer te verwachten.

Tocht Vinschgau/Merano ca. 70 km.
Take the Vinschgau railway towards the Reschenpass. First, you go from Mals to Glurns (a completely preserved medieval town wall). Via the Montani ruins through Schlanders down to Merano. Castles and palaces (Juval Castle of the mountaineer Reinhold Messner) are located on or high above the path. You can enjoy views of the impressive Ortler massif and the Stilfserjoch while cycling. The route can be shortened individually.

Merano - Bolzano ca. 45 km
Via Lana (Schnatterpeck Altar) and through numerous orchards and vineyards in the area of the South Tyrolean Wine Route, past many fortified castles, palaces and ruins to Eppan and at the foot of Sigmundskron Castle (Messner Mountain Museum) to Bozen (arcades, “Ötzi” Museum).

Bolzano - Auer ca. 30 km.
There are two ways to get to Lake Kaltern: the slightly hilly route on the new cycle path via Eppan or the flat route along the Etsch dam to the charming wine village of Auer.

Auer - Trento ca. 45 km
From Auer onto the cycle path along the Etsch dam. The German-speaking part of South Tyrol ends at the Salurner Klause. The route leads through famous Trentino wine regions to the old episcopal city of Trento (old town, cathedral, Buonconsiglio Castle).

Trento - Torbole/Riva ca. 45 km.
Shortly after the old Tyrolean border town of Rovereto, our cycle route leaves the Etschtal. In Mori, you can sample the famous pistachio ice cream in the Gelateria Bologna. After the only significant climb (approx. 150 m) over the small Passo San Giovanni, the descent to the lake to Torbole follows. The cycle tour ends in Riva or Torbole.
