De Flybus brengt je van Keflavík International Airport naar je hotel in Reykjavík, waar je de eerste nacht in IJsland doorbrengt. Vrije tijd om de hoofdstad van IJsland op eigen gelegenheid te verkennen als de tijd het toelaat.

Om 09:00 ontmoet je je reisleider die de groep de kerstsfeer laat zien van de hoofdstad en het schiereiland Reykjanes met zijn warmwaterbronnen, bergen, maanlandschap, vogelkliffen, vuurtorens en vissersdorpjes. Aan het eind van de dag kunnen we onze reis afspoelen in het warme blauwe water van de beroemde Blue Lagoon. We verblijven twee nachten in eenvoudige huisjes in Zuid-IJsland.
s Avonds vieren we Kerstmis op IJslandse wijze. Voor het diner gaan we mee met een bustour met gids om de kerstverlichting in de dorpen Hvolsvöllur en Hella te bekijken. De traditionele kerstverlichting vindt zijn oorsprong in de Middeleeuwen, toen mensen tijdens de Winterzonnewende de lichtjes in hun huizen moesten laten branden. In IJsland vindt de traditie zijn oorsprong in het heidense Oud-Noorse geloof, toen mensen het vuur in de centrale kuil van de Viking longhouses in leven hielden om de duisternis van de Winterzonnewende buiten te houden.
Je feestelijke 4-gangendiner begint rond 19:30 uur en wordt geserveerd in Árhús Restaurant aan de rivier in Hella, een klein dorpje in Zuid-IJsland. Drink een toast met mousserende wijn terwijl je geniet van een echt bijzonder kerstfeest. Zodra de duisternis valt, sta je natuurlijk buiten in de tuin te wachten op het noorderlicht.

Vandaag rijden we langs de zuidkust en bereiken we het gebied bij de actieve vulkaan die onder de gletsjer Eyjafjallajökull ligt. We stoppen bij de hoge maar smalle Seljalandsfoss waterval, die uit de berg stort. Vervolgens bezoeken we het Skógar volksmuseum, dat een opmerkelijke collectie boerderij- en huishoudelijke voorwerpen uit het verleden van IJsland bevat en een aantal met graszoden gebouwde huizen. Vlakbij ligt een van de indrukwekkendste watervallen van het land; de 60 meter hoge Skógafoss waterval.
s Middags gaat de tocht verder naar het zuiden waar je een wandeling maakt op het beroemde Zwarte Lavastrand bij Reynisfjara, de Kap van Dyrhólaey en de Reynisdrangar Zeekliffen bekijkt voordat je het charmante dorpje Vík bezoekt.
Als de nacht helder is, heb je misschien het geluk om het noorderlicht in een wilde en zorgeloze dans aan de hemel te zien in dramatische vormen, kleuren, patronen en maten.

In de ochtend leer je over het IJslandse paard, zijn speciale eigenschappen en geschiedenis en bezoek je een geothermische kas. Reis de Golden Circle route. Zie stoom opstijgen uit de Geysir geothermische velden als je aankomt. Er is een verscheidenheid aan warmwaterbronnen en borrelende poelen. De oorspronkelijke geiser is nu slapend maar is vervangen door Strokkur "de Karnton" die met tussenpozen van 5-10 minuten uitbarst. Ga verder naar Gullfoss, een dubbele waterval die 34 meter in de rivier Hvítá tuimelt en zowel 's zomers als 's winters toeristen en reizigers trekt. Ga landinwaarts naar het Nationaal Park Þingvellir, dat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat, voordat je terugkeert naar Reykjavík voor een overnachting.
Op het programma staat een culinaire traktatie in een traditioneel restaurant in het centrum van Reykjavík. Transfer heen en terug inbegrepen.

Customized private tours (individuals and groups): Cancellation terms and fees will be stated in the individual price offer. General terms are: EUR 500 non-refundable deposit from moment of booking until 12 weeks prior to tour start, 10% cancellation fee for cancellations 9-12 weeks prior to tour start, 50% cancellation fee for cancellations 5-8 weeks prior to tour start and 100% cancellation fee for cancellations within 28 days prior to tour start or for no shows, and a tour begun but not completed.
Greenland tours:
A deposit of 60% of the tour package price is required to finalise a booking and issue the flight ticket. Unfortunately, we cannot block flight seats and hotel rooms in Greenland without a deposit. Full payment is due 8 weeks before the tour start.
Once the booking is confirmed and up to 8 weeks before departure: Cancellation and changes (of ANY kind) will cost 60% of the tour package price. 8 weeks before departure and until travel date: Cancellation and changes (of ANY kind) will cost 100% of the tour package price.
Trips to Greenland are always subject to weather, fog and ice conditions. Therefore the sequence of the day tours and excursions in Greenland is subject to change, or if needed, an alternative excursion will be operated if available. In addition, delays and flight cancellations between Iceland and Greenland can happen. Therefore we strongly recommend you buy travel insurance in the country of residence to cover any additional travel expenses should your flights be delayed or cancelled due to weather. We recommend not to book any international flight directly after a trip from Greenland. Ideally, stay a minimum of two nights in Iceland after the Greenland trip to avoid the risk of missing an international flight.
Complaints:
Every effort will be made to provide you with the best holiday possible. Should you, for any reason, not be satisfied with the services provided during your stay, please inform our tour guide or a member of our staff so that the situation can be rectified immediately. If you do not bring the complaint to our attention within 24 hours of the problem occurring and give us the opportunity to put things right, we will not be held responsible for the problem. Guðmundur Jónasson Travel can not accept responsibility for arrangements other than those paid for in advance as part of a Guðmundur Jónasson Tour. Extra excursions taken during one of our tours will be the responsibility of that individual operator.
We strongly recommend that all travellers to Iceland have general travel insurance issued in their country of residence. This insurance should also cover all activities, i.e. horse riding, white river rafting, mountain biking etc. which are part of their tour. Your contract will be governed by Icelandic law, and any disputes will be dealt with in the courts of Iceland.

Hótel Klettur: Klettur is onze comfortaccommodatie in Reykjavík voor deze rondreis. Het hotel biedt standaardkamers van 18-24 m2 met eigen badkamer. Op de begane grond van het hotel bevindt zich een bar met een uitstekende selectie IJslandse bieren, cocktails en wijn.
Stracta Hotel: Stracta is zowel onze budget- als comfortaccommodatie op het platteland. Stracta ligt in een klein dorp met weinig blootstelling aan stadslicht, waardoor het mogelijk is om het noorderlicht te zien vanuit de tuin van het hotel, of eventueel vanuit je raam. Onze reizigers die de budgetoptie boeken, verblijven in een standaardkamer van 18m2 met eigen badkamer, en onze reizigers die de comfortoptie boeken, verblijven in studiokamers van 24m2 met eigen badkamer en een kleine kitchenette die geschikt is voor basis zelf koken. Op de begane grond van het hotel bevindt zich een restaurant. s Avonds kun je ontspannen in de hot tubs en sauna in de tuinen van het hotel.
