Embark on a journey through the wilderness where every step brings you closer to understanding the world of bears. We will hike and watch the life of bears in Podbanský. In this tour we will hike and observe the bears for one day. The other 2 days we will hike in the High Tatras National Park.

Are you fascinated by bears? Would you like to learn more about their lives? Experience Slovakia will take you to places  where there are the best chances to see them. You can observe bears from a safe distance and under the supervision of an experienced instructor. Together with our hike in Podbanský you will learn about the life of bears, their natural environment and their relationship with us. In many countries bears are already extinct, and we are proud that we can still see them here.

The High Tatras is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Slovakia, attracting thousands of tourists every year. In this tour, you will be able to see some of its main resorts and walk around a glacial lake in Strbske Pleso, surrounded by stunning natural beauty and making your adventure unforgettable.

* Although most of the time we see these animals in the wild during this tour, there could be a small chance that you might not see all of them. We cannot forget that we are entering their habitat instead of getting them to pose for a picture.

For solo travellers, staying in a private room, please contact us before booking for a quotation and check availability.

Tour program

Day 1

Krakow pick up and travel to Poprad

Today we will collect you from Krakow Airport or City Centre. We will travel to Poprad. In Poprad you can visit the Podtatranské museum and the Tatra Gallery. In the square Námestie v. Egídia you can find a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. Not far from it you can visit the medieval part of Poprad - Spišská Sobota. Spišská Sobota is one of the best preserved medieval urban units in Slovakia. Its square is bordered by burgher houses built on narrow medieval plots. A common characteristic of these houses are the tall shingled roofs with massive shingled cornices. You can also find a Roman-Catholic church built before 1273 in the Late-Romanesque style, the church of St George. It was rebuilt in the Gothic style in 1464. The church contains five beautiful Gothic altars.

Start point

John Paul II International Airport Kraków–Balice (KRK), Kpt. Mieczysława Medweckiego 1, Balice, Lesser Poland Voivodeship 32-083, Poland

Today we will do one day trip to observe the life of bears. We will follow a blue touristic route in Kamensita dolina. The route takes around 14 kilometres. The total elevation of this route is no more than 550 metres, and the highest point of it does not exceed 1500 metres above sea level.  Along the trail, we'll pause at designated stations, each unveiling a chapter of the bears' existence — their habits, and the intricate dance between humans and these majestic creatures. As we venture deeper into the wild, the latter part of our expedition unveils a thrilling spectacle: observing bears in their natural domain, particularly in the rugged terrain of avalanche chutes. This immersive encounter is heightened by the expert observation techniques wielded by our seasoned guide, ensuring an unforgettable glimpse into the lives of these iconic animals.
