Enjoy this memorable five-day tour discovering modern Thailand and the historic Siam. Starting and ending in Bangkok, admire the ancient monuments, dazzling temples and bustling markets that help make Thailand the most captivating country in Southeast Asia. Visit ruins such as those of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, which offer an insight into the grandeur of past glories, and meet the inhabitants of remote rainforest villages, where the past is very much alive. Join us for a magical journey to uncover Siam’s glittering gems. This tour is operated in a small group of up to 8 passengers.

Day 1

BANGKOK - AYUTTHAYA - PHITSANULOK (380 km - 5 hours)

After being picked up early in the morning at the agreed-upon meeting point in Bangkok, you’ll travel to the former capital, Ayutthaya, and explore the ruins of this once-vast island city, which was largely destroyed by an invading army 250 years ago. Today, the striking ruins hint at their former glory, as seen in temples such as Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, Wat Phanan Choeng, and Wat Mahathat—where tree roots have entwined themselves around the head of a Buddha. Hop aboard a traditional long-tail boat and enjoy a picturesque cruise around the island, allowing you to view the city’s ruins from a different perspective. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue on to Phitsanulok to check in at the hotel. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight in Phitsanulok.

Day 2

PHITSANULOK - LAMPANG - CHIANG MAI (350 km - 5 hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll set off for Lampang. Upon arrival, you’ll visit Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang. This large Lanna-style temple is prominently situated on a hill surrounded by walls. Climb the Naga staircase and explore the complex, which houses seven buildings and a sacred tree. Admire the bronze Buddha statue in the ordination hall and the Buddha’s relic in the golden chedi (part of a Buddhist temple complex). Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on to Chiang Mai, commonly known as “the Rose of the North.” After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. Perhaps explore the city at your own pace or enjoy a relaxing Thai massage (not included in the price). In the evening, you can stroll to the lively night bazaar or enjoy an evening featuring a Khantoke dinner—a traditional northern Thai feast—combined with a selection of traditional cultural performances (optional, not included in the price). Day 3

CHIANG MAI (80 kms - 2hrs)

After breakfast at the hotel, visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most revered temples in the country. This sacred site is located on the top of a mountain from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the city. To reach the temple, you have to climb a Naga staircase with 309 steps. Alternatively, you can also use the cable car (included in the price) to reach the temple. This spiritual sojourn is followed by a visit to the shopper's paradise, the famous San Kamphaeng Road, a 10 km long street flanked by stores. Locally made goods such as ceramics, silverware, lacquerware, handmade Saa paper, sculptures, jewelry, wood carvings and silk products are sold there. In some stores you can even watch the craftsmen at work. Look out for the celadon ceramics and silverware, both of which are usually of excellent quality. Day 4

CHIANG MAI – LAMPHUN – SUKHOTHAI (370km – 5hrs)

After breakfast at the hotel, say goodbye to Chiang Mai and continue to Lamphun. Here you will find one of the most important temples in the north, the thousand-year-old Wat Phra That Hariphunchai. Visit the temple and admire the Buddha statues and impressive stupas, including a 46-meter-high golden Lanna-style chedi and a 21-meter-high Haripunchai-style chedi. Pick up the route again and head south to Sukhothai Historical Park, which covers the ruins of the first capital of "Siam". Founded in the 13th century, Sukhothai means "Dawn of Happiness" and heralded the beginning of a golden age for Thai culture under the reign of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great. He is also credited with the creation of the Thai alphabet. The historical park is home to the ruins of almost 200 buildings, including dozens of temples. The complex, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is divided into the ruins inside the walls and moat and those outside.overnight in Sukhothai.

Day 5

SUKHOTHAI – LOPBURI – BANGKOK (480km – 7 hrs)

After breakfast at the hotel, leave Sukhothai for Lop Buri. This historic town is famous for the troops of macaque monkeys that roam the streets as if it were the jungle. Visit the ruins of the ancient Khmer temple of Phra Prang Sam Yot and the adjacent Brahmanical shrine of San Phra Kan, known as the 'Monkey Temple'. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant en route and continue to Bangkok, where you will be dropped off in the city center.
