Itinerary

In the largest floodplain on the planet, the scene of incredible biodiversity, the Southern Pantanal is the harmonious combination of water, fauna and flora. By boat, on horseback or on foot through the Pantanal meadows, you will appreciate the flight of herons, tuiuiús and spoonbills, see the colors of the macaws and toucans, be enchanted by the walk of the wetland deer, capybaras and otters, listen to the howler monkeys, admire anacondas and alligators and maybe see a jaguar in the midst of capons.

After experiencing life on a farm in the Pantanal, the itinerary will continue towards the main ecotourism center in the Southern Pantanal: Bonito.

Bringing together waterfalls, crystalline lakes, a lot of biodiversity and breathtaking scenery, the region has several attractions for those who enjoy contemplating a true paradise in the middle of nature. Bonito is simply the best destination for river diving in Brazil. In the Sucuri River, with a light current, you will swim side by side with different species of colorful fish as in a natural aquarium!

Day 5

Rio da Prata & Buraco das Araras

Early in the morning after breakfast, we head to Rio da Prata, 50 kilometers away. The water is warm all year round. A wetsuit will be provided at the entrance to protect you from the sun's rays. The tour begins with a pleasant walk along the banks of the Rio da Prata. The path leads through centuries-old trees, numerous orchids and bromeliads. With a little luck, you can see several species of birds and mammals, such as coatis, capuchin monkeys or anteaters.

After a brief introduction from the guide, we descend along the river for about two kilometers with other participants into the shallow spring waters of the crystal clear Rio da Prata. We are accompanied by a small boat and countless colorful and sparkling fish. After this unique experience, a rich lunch with local specialties awaits us and a hammock to relax.

After lunch we reach the Buraco das Araras, a natural reserve of 100 hectares, known for birdwatching. The visitor and excursion center is run by a family business, which also makes an important contribution to bird protection projects and scientific research.

Buraco das Araras is the largest sinkhole in South America and a perfect place to get up close and personal with macaw parrots. During the mating season, the red macaw population is estimated to be over 120. In addition to the numerous macaws, there are also more than 150 other bird species resident here. After a short walk we arrive at two platforms. Bird watching and game drive take about 2 hours. After the visit, you will return to Bonito in the late afternoon, where you will be accompanied to your accommodation.

Day 6

Blue Lagoon Cave and Estancia Mimosa

Pick up after breakfast and transfer to the Blue Lagoon Cave. The beauty of the lagoon and geological formations of the cave are worthwhile.

Proceed directly to Estância Mimosa, a beautiful spot on the margins of Rio Mimoso replete with pristine nature and several waterfalls. Delicious lunch will be served by arrival.

Tour by afternoon, a pleasant walk birding through the gallery forests getting to several spots where travelers can swim and relax in marvelous waterfalls, cascades and natural pools. Return to Bonito, evening at leisure.
