Transfer to the airport. You will fly on to your next destination: Tokyo, the capital of Japan, where your local tour guide will welcome you. On the drive to your hotel, you will gather your first impressions of the Japanese metropolis. The rest of the day is at leisure. Opportunity to explore the city for the first time.

You leave Tokyo and drive to Nikko, one of the highlights of any trip to Japan. Among other things, you will visit the Toshogu Shrine, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with other temples and shrines. In the afternoon, continue to Matsu-moto, known for one of the most beautifully preserved castles in Japan.

Visit to the fortress, also known as "Crow Castle" because of its black paint. Afterwards, bus ride to Takayama, situated at the foot of the Japanese Alps. On a clear day, you can enjoy the panorama of the mountains at over 3,000 m above sea level. Sightseeing tour on foot, stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town with its traditional stores and get to know the old provincial administration, which will give you an insight into the culture and society.

You start the day with a visit to the morning market in Takayama. You then travel by bus to Kanazawa. On the way, make a short stop at the picturesque mountain village of Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Kanazawa, the Kenrouen Park and the Higashi Chaya district are among the sights. In the evening, take the express train to Kyoto.

The former imperial city of Kyoto with its eventful history has left behind a wealth of cultural assets with parks, shrines and temples. During today's tours, you will discover the most beautiful temples, Zen gardens and Shinto shrines in Kyoto. These include the Ryoanji Temple with its famous Zen garden, the charming grounds of the Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji) and the Nijo residence of the Tokugawa shogunate, where you will feel transported back to the palace life of the time. In the afternoon, head to the Fushimi Inari Shrine, whose seemingly endless shrine gate galleries invite you to take a stroll. At the end of the day, the numerous stores and department stores in the vibrant Shijo-Kawaramachi district tempt you to go on a shopping spree. You can also visit the traditional Kyoto market street Nishiki-Dori. Nowhere else can the variety of the famous Japanese cuisine be explored so closely and impressively.

The day is at your leisure. You can continue to explore Kyoto on your own - or accompany your tour guide on a very interesting excursion to Nara & Uji as part of the Japan excursion package. Then return to Kyoto.

The morning is at leisure. Around noon, transfer to Osaka Airport to reach your next destination: Shanghai. On arrival, transfer to the hotel.

The day in Shanghai is at your leisure. If you wish, you can experience the "Traditional Shanghai" excursion including lunch as part of the Beijing and Shanghai excursion package.

For guests with return flight to Frankfurt: Transfer to the airport and return flight to Germany. Arrival in Frankfurt on the same day.

For guests with return flight to Munich: Day at leisure. In the evening transfer to the airport and return flight.
