Itinerary

This is the perfect trip for trekking lovers. It is designed to get to the best hiking spots of Southern Patagonia. The first days you are going to explore El Chalten, with the impressive Mt Fitz Roy and legendary Cerro Torre.  The next step will be to reach El Calafate to visit Perito Moreno Glacier, a wonderful, wolrd of ice in southernm Patagonia. Then a public bus takes you to Puerto Natales to begin, the following day, the great W Trek. After the trek is finished, back to Puerto Natales and then you can continue to Punta Arenas or back to El Calafate. To sum up, a series of the best Patagonian treks along glacial valleys and rivers, under immense, grey stone towers, over ice blue glaciers and among beautiful forests and lakes. Just a Patagonian paradise! In this  case we are offering the short version of the W Trek (Express) for those who have their time and budget a little bit more tight.

Day 1

El Chaltén

Arrival to El Calafate airport. Shuttle or bus from airport to El Chalten. Check in and free rest of day.

Day 2

El Chaltén

Free day to do some self guided treks, for example to Laguna de los Tres, where you reach the lagoon at the base of Mt Fitz Roy, after about 4 hours hike. It is recommended to begin between 7 and 8 am to be able to get to the lagoon and back.

Day 3

El Chaltén

Free day to do more self guided treks, for example to Laguna Torre, where you can see the reflection of  legendary Cerro Torre at the lagoon of the same name. It is a bit shorter than Laguna de los Tres but it is also recommended to depart early

Day 4

El Calafate

8 am bus from El Chalten to El Calafate. Arrival to the bus station at about 11 am, make your own way to your accommodation. Free day to relax and explore.

Day 5

El Calafate

­ PERITO MORENO GLACIER DAY TOUR - EL CALAFATE

This Perito Moreno Glacier tour is a wonderful opportunity for travelers to explore and experience one of Argentina’s top attractions! This day tour into the Los Glaciares National Park offers exceptional views of Patagonia’s most famous glacier, the incredible Perito Moreno as you are guided along the wooden walk ways.


The Perito Moreno full day excursion will begin taking you from central El Calafate towards the Los Glaciares National Park, an area of exceptional natural beauty and a UNESCO National Heritage site. This is the classic tour to sightsee the Perito Moreno Glacier and the best option to get an overview and see it from above. A full-day tour through Los Glaciares National Park, in which Perito Moreno lies, it gives you the chance to really appreciate the glacier’s sheer magnitude, as you walk across the Pasarelas (heightened wooden walk ways) along the shores of Lake Argentino. Following the Perito Moreno tour circuit you will finally reach the boardwalks of the Perito Moreno Glacier, where you will have three hours to explore and sightsee Perito Moreno’s enormous 60-meter wall of ice floating on the surface of Lake Argentino.


The Perito Moreno Glacier is Patagonia’s most famous attraction and a truly unique, breath-taking spectacle of nature that you cannot miss

Day 6

Puerto Natales

Breakfast. 

Make your own way to the bus station and take the morning bus (about 7.30-8.00 hs) to Puerto Natales in Chile. Arrival and make your own way to accommodation. 

Please make sure you go through all the links we will be sending you, including a video briefing that tells you about the National Park, basic security, itineraries and all you need for your self guided trek.

Day 7

Torres del Paine National Park

Puerto Natales – Torres del Paine (Regular Bus) - Las Torres Base Viewpoint.


Find your own way to the bus station. Registration time at Rodoviario (Bus Station): 6.45 am


The day your program starts you will have to take the bus at 7 am from Puerto Natales. The trip takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive, leave your heavy stuff and then start with your first trekking through the Ascencio Valley, until you reach the Vientos pass, with its spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and lakes. You will pass through the Chileno Sector and through a native lenga forest before reaching the final stretch of your adventure. This part of the hike

lasts approximately one hour over rocky terrain. At the end of this trek you will encounter the most impressive view of the three iconic granite towers and their glacial lagoon.  Hike back to sector Central to have dinner and rest.


NIGHT 1 of W-Trek: Refugio Torre Central.


Hike: 8-10 hours. 19,4 km (12 mi.)


Difficulty: High


Elevation gain: 750 m

Day 8

Torres del Paine National Park

Sector Central - Sector Frances (or Cuernos)


Walk along the tranquil shore of Lake Nordenskjöld and at the base of the amazing Almirante Nieto Mount and its hanging glaciers. The hushed atmosphere of the massive peaks above the turquoise lake will beg you to slow down, process the magnitude and capture that view forever with a photograph. The lake is surrounded by geographic contrasts and is home to many birds, so keep an eye out for condors flying in this area. You will continue along the Arriero river, which offers great opportunities to take a nice long break to fill your water bottle and enjoy the

present moment. Once at the highest viewpoint, you will be able to see the lake in its entirety and the Francés Glacier on Paine Grande mount.


NIGHT 2 of W-Trek: Refugio Frances (or Cuernos)


Hike: 4,5-6,5 hours. 13,5 km (8,4 mi.)


Difficulty: Medium


Elevation gain: 80 m

Day 9

Torres del Paine National Park

Trekking the Frances Valley


Recommended time to begin the trek: 9am


Start your morning in the perfect way with a light and magnificent trek to Italiano camping. Your mind and body will be aligned with the present moment, processing all the experiences of the previous days. Surrounded by mountains, you will find peace of mind, the sounds and smells of the lake will make you vibrate with energy in the midst of a varied and abundant vegetation that will fill you with life.

You will pass by an amazing waterfall and you will be able to fill your bottle with pure and cold water. This whole experience will be perfectly complemented by the incomparable view from the Francés Valley. At the viewpoint, you will be dazzled with one of the most

impressive views of the entire circuit. You can continue to Britanico lookout and then hike your way down to Frances to spend the 3rd night to the W Trek


NIGHT 3 of W-Trek: Refugio Frances


Hike: 7-8 hours. 15 km (9,3 mi.)


Difficulty: High


Elevation gain: 712 m

Day 10

Puerto Natales

Trekking to Grey Lookout: Sector Frances - Paine Grande - Grey Lookout - Paine Grande - Pehoe Lake - Pudeto - Puerto Natales 


Recommended time to begin the trek: 8am


First you have to hike to Paine Grande and then do a roundtrip trek to the Grey Glacier Lookout. After about one and a half hours from Paine Grande the traveler will reach the first lookout, where it’s possible to observe the glacier at a distance. From there, the traveler will follow a path that circles the west bank of Lake Grey. After about one and a half / two hours the traveler will reach the main lookout with spectacular views of Grey Glacier, Cordón Olguín and the ice floes. The return journey follows the same path, arriving to the sector known as Pehoé. At the pier you will board a ferry and take a trip across Lake Pehoé, disembarking at the sector known as Pudeto from which point a transfer will be waiting to take customers back to Puerto Natales. You have to make your way from the bus station to your accommodation in Puerto Natales


Ferry Itinerary PM / AM:


-Registration time at the pier: 6.00pm/ Departure: 6.30pm/ Approximate arrival time to Rodoviario Natales: 10pm.


-It is possible that due to physical and climate conditions you prefer to return on the first ferry. In this instance, the walk will only reach the first lookout (three hours approximate roundtrip). If taking advantage of this option, registration time at the pier is: 11am/ Departure: 11.30am/ Approximate arrival time to Rodoviario Natales: 4.30pm.


-It’s important that on this day you effectively calculate walking times in order to be on time for the ferry departures.


-When walking to the glacier lookout, backpacks can be safely left at Paine Grande Lodge (a fee aplies) if you need to get rid of them for a while


Hike: 7-8 hours. 22 km (13,6 mi.)

End of Itinerary

Puerto Natales – Punta Arenas Airport


Breakfast and check out. You make our own way to the bus station to take the Punta Arenas Airport public bus (or Punta Arenas city if you are not flying out). Bus Times: 07.00 hs / 10.00 hs / 12.30 hs / 15.00 hs / 17.15 hs / 19.00 hs / 21.00 hs. Optional: Return bus to El Calafate

Contracting Conditions

Prices include: All the services specified in each offered and hired package, plus accommodation at the selected hostels/hotels (or similar).


The prices do NOT include: Airport taxes, entrance to national or local parks, none specified food and beverages. No extras included, such as: laundry service, telephone calls, beverages and food on the road (except for explicitly detailed in the itinerary). Visa expenses when necessary. Excursions and/or optional visits. Luggage excess, stopovers and/or additional expenses produced by cancelled/reschedule/delayed flights, or other means of transportation, by unexpected reasons and/or regardless of your will. Cover of loss, robbery and/or partial damages of the luggage. Any another service that is not specifically detailed in the general conditions of each contract.


Hostel/hostel Day: 

Although there can be some variations according to the destination, the right to check in begins at 2PM the day of arrival, while checking out at 11AM. Full night stay could be charged if check out time is exceeded: please notify in advance at reception if you want to extend your stay.


Responsibilities

HI Travel Incoming SAS – HI Travel Incoming DMC Leg: EVT 12.903 hereinafter referred to as “Organizer”, who acts in representation of services providers, explicitly declares that works only as a link between travelers and the representative companies (transportation, hotels, restaurants, guides, etc.); therefore declines to accept any possible responsibility for deficiency in any of the offered services, as well for any damage, injury, accident, strike, illnesses, robberies, delays/anticipations or reschedule trips, as many other irregularities that could occur during the execution of services, including luggage or other objects loss and deterioration.


Service alterations: 

The Organizer reserves the right to modify the itinerary if it provides a better service, or if the circumstances oblige thus. Similarly, the Organizer reserves the right to ANNUL any Tour for reasons of greater force (the Organizer should communicate such circumstances directly to clients or the hired agency, who requested the reservation, 7 days ahead). The Organizer declines all guarantees, reimbursement and all responsibility for inconveniences or damages inherent to the use of offered services, if the trip is prolonged beyond fixed schedules because of any circumstance of greater force, or if the client does not use any of the previously hired services. All prices are subject to modification without previous notice.


Times of transportation: the departure times of transportation stated in the tours and itineraries can change due to third companie´s choice or due to seasonal changes. 


Reservations and payment methods: 

Reservations will be accepted only when properly given Name, Surname, ID type and number, Nationality and Date of Birth, arrival details; and it will have validity only after paying 30% upfront. Balance should be paid within 7 days after the reservation is confirmed. The breach of this obligation will be taken as a reliable NOTICE of cancellation, automatically causing the annulment of the confirmed reservation and the total loss of the deposit, without the right to claim for a return. Partial or total payments imply that the Client is properly notified about the general conditions, and that they are accepted. (Except W Trek and O trek tours)


Refund

There will be no refunds done for any service to which the Client has renounced voluntarily.


Claims

Claims will not be attended after 20 days the service is finished.


Cancellations

They will only be valid, in all cases and without exception, when presenting a written e-mail to the Organizer’s e-mail account. When canceling, the Client will be charged a cancellation fee according to the service price.


Cancellation fee: 

Retentions will be applied according to the time of anticipation cancellations are formulated: more than 20 days of anticipation: 10%, between 20 and 3 days of anticipation: 30%, 72 hours of anticipation: 70%, except particular cases. (Except W Trek and O trek tours- please check conditions bellow)


Tours / Date Changes: 

They will only be accepted within (at least) 3 days of the application date. These changes will be subject to availability and the payment of 5% of the service price, in concept of administrative and communication fee. (Except W Trek and O trek tours- please check conditions bellow)


Useful Information: 

Personal documentation: it is indispensable that the personal documentation is current and in perfect state of conservation. The ORGANIZER declines explicitly any responsibility if the Client cannot embark due to documentation loss or rejection, or lack of the needed visa, if necessary. When traveling with children, the marriage register book or their birth certificates must be carried. If one of the parents is traveling with a child younger than 21, the spouse's notarized authorization must be shown. Minors traveling without parents must present a notarized authorization from both parents. In both cases, the authorization must be signed by a Public Notary and properly legalized at the School of Notaries.


Article 21, Decree 2182/72: 

When withdrawals that affect services hired by the Organizer occurs, the reimbursement is subject to the contractual conditions under which the respective companies lend their services. When cases of reimbursements are effective, agencies will have the right to deduce 10% from the total amount for themselves. Agencies should send the confirmation order (for the total amount hired by the Client) to the lending service companies within 5 days the claim is received, in case of immediate reimbursement (when applicable) for non-used hired services. They will also have to return the corresponding amount within the next 10 days the respective liquidation is received.

95 days or more before arrival ................................. no fee.

94 to 65 days before arrival ................................... 20% fee.

65 to 50 days before arrival .................................. 50% fee.

50 (or less) days before arrival ......................... 100% fee.


Modifications:

Any modifications made to a reservation during the cancellation and payment periods that result in a lower total value than the original quote will not be eligible for a refund. If a modification results in a higher total value than the original quote, the price difference must be paid immediately. No changes can be made to the reservation once it is 100% paid.
