You’ll be picked up in Moshi in the morning and enjoy a private transport to Marangu, which is about an hour from Moshi. Throughout the day, you’ll be visiting/participating in, in a random order according to availability and opening hours…
Marangu Gate, where you’ll get information about Kilimanjaro National Park and climbing the highest mountain in Africa.
Chagga caves, with an explanation about their history. The caves (everybody calls them caves but they’re actually more like tunnels) were dug about 200 years ago by the Chagga, to protect themselves from attacks by the Maasai.
A reproduction of a traditional Chagga house.
A coffee tour. You’ll get to make your own coffee from A to Z, in the traditional way of course!
Kilasiya waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is steep and can be slippery at times, but it’s not very long and we believe it’s manageable for anybody in normal physical condition. Please don’t forget to wear good shoes.
The local Chagga museum.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant and, if you want, you can also try some local banana beer called mbege. You’ll also get more information about how the beer is prepared.
