Everest Base Camp via Gokyo lakes trek will certainly amazes you with daily scenery of high mountains walking into lovely Sherpa villages.  Also, these villages will be adorned with religious monuments of Buddhism religion of strong Tibetan influence and culture.

 

Starting our magnificent adventure  of Gokyo lakes to Everest Base Camp Trek, take a smooth short flight to land at Lukla town. And its unique airstrip during flight one can see incredible panorama of Himalayan chain of mountains with Everest in view.

 

From Lukla head towards Namche, walking into nice trails with short ups and down into green alpine woodland. Then on winding uphill to reach at famed Namche Bazaar, a large and colorful village or a town with many facilities that one can imagine or expect.

 

At Namche, with rest day to accommodate acclimatization against high altitude symptoms or AMS (acute mountain sickness)  head into hidden corners of Khumbu at beautiful Gokyo lakes and its scenic valley with climb on top Gokyo-Ri for outstanding panorama of world’s highest mountains Everest-Lhotse-Makalu with close views of Mt. Cho-Oyu.

 

With enjoyable and mesmerizing time at Gokyo, our next adventure leads you to cross and traverse over high Tsho-la (often spelled as Cho-la). Finally, leading to world’s number one base camp of towering Mt. Everest.

 

Exciting and enjoyable time at Everest base camp within notorious Khumbu Ice-falls and glacier. After that climb to the highest spot of the adventure on top Kalapathar above 5,545 m. This is highest point of the adventure with breathtaking panorama of giant surrounding peaks and closest views of Mt. Everest at mere distance.

 

Return journey on alternative and main easy downhill route reach Namche. And then at Lukla for panoramic flight back to hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu. Thus, our overwhelming adventure and great memorable experience on Everest base camp Gokyo trek comes to an end.

Tour program

Day 1

Transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for flight to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakdingma 2,657 m – 04 hrs.

Morning at the earliest before or after quick breakfast/carry pack breakfast to save time, reach at Kathmandu domestic airport terminal. From there a short scenic flight of 35 minutes reaches you at Lukla.


Lukla is a gateway Sherpa town at the height of 2,820 m high. This faces views of Kongde peak and Naulekh Himal.


With refreshing stop at Lukla then follow our lead guide after adjusting baggage with porters.Either one can carry or on pack animals (Jopkyo a mix breed of normal cow and Yak).


As walk leads past Lukla town heading down to Choplung small village and then around Dudh-Kosi River valley. In like manners, head toward gorge which is our first overnight stop at Phakdingma village by the raging glacial Dudh-Kosi River.


Phakding also called as Phakding for short, used the proper and correct words in respect for its name sake.

Day 2

Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hrs.

Starting with gradual walk in the morning from Phakdingma, follow the river upstream past several Sherpa nice villages with short ups and down.


Then cross a long suspension bridge to Monjo village, where Sagarmatha National Park starts. As a consequence, enter into park areas past Jorsalle the last village before Namche Bazaar.


From Jorsalle, cross bridge and move into serene woodland of tall pines and rhododendron trees. Next, climb on winding trail facing views of Kongde, Kusum Khanguru and Tharmasakru peaks.


Afterwards,walk brings you into famous Namche Bazaar. This is more of a town rather than village with many good restaurants, hotels, lodge having number of shops and stores includes Bank and Post-Office.


At Namche enjoy in the comfort of nice cozy lodge, with time to marvel the views of snow capped peaks.

Day 3

In Namche for rest to support acclimatization with short hike and excursion.

A free and rest day to support with acclimatization in Namche before heading higher ground. Short walks to view point  towards Everest View Hotel takes nearly 3-4 hours both ways. Which offers excellent panorama of mountains with Everest and magnificent Amadablam.


In Namche, visit museum where you can gain knowledge of Khumbu Sherpa, culture, flora-fauna. As well as gain information of mountaineering expedition history with rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4

Trek to Dole 4,110 m past Phortse Tenga – 06 hrs.

After a nice pleasant overnight in Namche Bazaar, scenic walks leads you to good walk with Mountain views.


Then morning trek takes you with short climb, and then on winding trail. At the same time, the route diverse to a climb for few hours to reach a high hill at Mong. This offers excellent views of Everest with magnificent Amadablam.


After short break, downhill within cool shade of woodland to reach Phortse Tenga, a village on a valley and gorge of Dudh Kosi River. From here slow climb takes you at Dole for overnight stop having few nice lodges to stay.

Day 5

Trek to Machherma 4,470 m – 04 hrs.

Morning leads towards higher terrain but walk is pleasant after a short climb up to a ridge.The leaving tree lines stops for short alpine bushes of juniper and Burberry, after steep and short ups from Dole.


Similarly,walk gets better on nice scenic trails with grand views of Mt. Cho-Oyu and then on downhill to a lovely valley Machherma. Furthermore, Machherma is a small settlement located with nice good lodges to stay on route Gokyo Lake.

Day 6

Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,800 m- 04 hrs.

A short day walk starts from Machherma, with a short climb to a hill top and then on pleasant path overlooking views of Taboche, Cho-Oyu and Cholatse mountains. Similarly, walk takes to a climb reaching first lake and then second lakes of Gokyo valley.


After walking past the lake side of Gokyo, coming at last towards third and main lakes of Gokyo. Where nice lodge  is situated above the lake side, the lake is also known as Dudh Pokhari (Milky Pond) considered as holy by both Hindu and Buddhist religions.


At Gokyo, retire in a nice cozy lodge for lunch and overnight stop, with afternoon free to marvel the scenic views of surroundings peaks. These peaks includes world 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu that straddles the border with Nepal and Tibet.

Day 7

At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357 m and walk to Thagnak 4,780 m.

A perfect place for rest day where early morning hike leads you atop Gokyo-Ri the highest point of the adventure at above 5,356 m.  As a result,strenuous climb rewards you with world’s four highest mountains with first highest Mt. Everest (8,848 m), 4th highest Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), 5th high Mt. Makalu (8,463 m) and 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu (8,201 m) with range of lesser peaks that surrounds on this scenic top


Afterwards of a great moment overlooking outstanding panorama with stunning sunrise descend back to Gokyo.  Next, at afternoon, a slow and short enjoyable walkleads at isolated place at Thagnak on the bottom of Tsho-La pass (often spelled as Cho-La).

Day 8

Traverse over Tsho-la pass to Dzongla 4,784 m – 08 hrs.

Starting very early at the crack of dawn, traverse or cross over high Tsho-La pass. Afterwards, walk leads to a steep climb over boulders of rocks and moraine to reach on top Tsho-la or Cho-La festooned with Buddhist colorful prayer flags.


Then stop at the top to catch breath after a long haul and enjoy great views of Taboche-Cholatse-Nirekha with Lobuche peaks. After a refreshing break head down slowly with care to reach the other end of Tsho-la pass to reach. This leads to overnight stop in a small place of Dzongla with few good lodges.

Day 9

Trek to Lobuche 4,890 m – 05 hrs.

After a hard and tough walk and climb of previous day over Tsho-la, morning walk from here onward will be much easier and pleasant. Except for high altitude gain where our route leads above Thugla pass with short gradual climb on leaving Dzongla.


Later, walk gets better after a short uphill then on pleasant trail to reach at Lobuche for overnight stop.This stop is a small settlement located on the corner of a wide valley beneath peaks of Lobuche East and West.

Day 10

Trek to Everest Base Camp 5,365 m and walk back to Gorakshep 5,180 m – 06 hrs

Our adventure today leads to our main target and goal at Everest base camp. Where morning walk follows a flat valley with slow climb to reach further. And then a steep climb to reach a ridge near above Khumbu glacier.


Subsequently, walk continues over rocky moraines and ice to reach a scenic flat areas at Gorakshep. This is located on the bottom of Kalapathar and Mt. Pumori on route  to Everest base camp. As usual at Gorakshep with short break catch breathe in this high altitude with dry air.


From Gorakshep following our lead guide head further east to reach at much awaited destination Everest Base Camp. With marvelous views of Khumbu Ice-Falls, glaciers look above peaks of Nuptse, Everest and Lhotse. Usually,in high mountaineering season of April to May, this grand spot flooded with tents of expeditions.


After exciting time having achieved our goal walk back to Gorakshep for overnight stop. Afterwards, head downhill back to Lukla with climb of Kalapathar.

Day 11

Morning climb on top Kalapathar 5,545 m walk to Pangboche 3,900 m- 06 hrs.

Start early morning before breakfast climb to the top of rocky hill at above 5,545 m the highest spot of the adventure. As expected, you will be rewarded with overwhelming panorama of giant surrounding peaks with close views of Everest and Mt. Pumori.


After a mesmerizing moment on top Kalapathar descend to Gorakshep for breakfast. And carry on trekking down to Pheriche valley and then further to reach at Pangboche village. Here stop for overnight stay with great scenic walk of the day.

Day 12

Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.

Eventually, our memorable and exciting adventure of Everest base camp and on top Kalapathar nears end. An easy walk from here on without worry of high altitude sickness, route leads loosing elevation every hour of walks.


From Pangboche reaching with a climb to beautiful Thyangboche and its colorful monastery reach back into green woodland. After then a lovely walks of downs and ups on nice scenic trail to Namche Bazaar for last night in Khumbu before Lukla

Day 13

Trek to Lukla 2,820 m – 06 hrs.

Eventually, our last day of final treks, reach at Lukla.  The morning starts with long downhill towards a high bridge to reach Dudh Kosi River valley. Next, head towards Sagarmatha national park entrance and exit point to Monjo village.


Then walk continues past Phakdingma with last short climb to reach at last overnight stay in Lukla before flying back to Kathmandu.

Day 14

Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with free afternoon at leisure.

Depending upon flight time for Kathmandu, morning with last breakfast in Khumbu and Lukla transfer to air terminal. This terminal is named after the World famous Tenzing and Hillary, the first to conquer Mt. Everest in 1953.

Eco Holiday Nepal a travel and adventure companies based in Kathmandu / Nepal which is fully registered and approved from the Government of Nepal as well with concern Tourism Department, and life time member of TAAN (Nepal Trekking Agents Association of Nepal), NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association), NTB (Nepal Tourism Board) PAC (Porters Act) as well with other non governments committed with Eco-Tourism and Responsible Tourism.

Booking with us:

After going through our norms and conditions you ask for information and queries if in doubt, all trip booking for Nepal destinations should be made by two months earlier minimum of two weeks times, so that we arrange necessary details well in advance to avoid disappointment like hotel-domestic airlines booking and as well chartering bus-coach or booking tourist bus tickets ahead before your arrival.

25% down payment which you can transfer to Bank Account in Kathmandu / Nepal rest of the trip cost to be made on arrival in Kathmandu before trek / tour departures, where applicable foreign currencies accepted like US $ – UK Pounds, and Euro or Chinese / Indian.

For Tibet and Bhutan at least minimum of one month booking ahead to arrange all logistic and entry permits for neighboring countries with 50% in advance.


Booking in Last Hour:

We accept your last hour booking in the eve of trip departure with 100% payment (07 days prior to tour starting date only for Nepal Trips, excluding trips Tibet, Bhutan and India not accepted as this requires at least 3 weeks in advance prior to trip departure for Nepal neighboring countries.

Trips Cancellation Policy:

On booking, some might be compelled to cancel the trip with various reasons from personal / domestic, medical, health, job or with some other situations, in this case where cancellation fees will be applied of 25% as cancellation charge, where you will be notified us or to our overseas agents with minimum of month in advance before trip departure.

60 % cancellation fee applied on 2 weeks to a month notice.

No refund on last minute or no show situation.

If clients has to return or break from the tour, trekking / or any other trips earlier than proposed itinerary days due to medical / physical or personal reasons clients has to borne his / her own expenses on route of trekking and at hotel in Kathmandu or in any other last main cities before you departure for home.

There are no refunds, if the company has to reroute to other areas due to unavoidable circumstances and from bad weather.

If such conditions arise company holds the right and providing you a hassle free adventure holidays with enjoyable time.

Clients’ Responsibility:

A tour / trekking guide representing our company holds all authority during treks and tours. If one behave badly or commit any unlawful act, where you will be compelled to leave the tour / treks. No refund will be made in such condition.

NEPAL VISA & PASSPORT CONDITION:

All clients are requested to have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the return date. Nepal visas can be obtained from the Nepal Consulate or Embassy in your country or upon arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport.  The costs of Nepalese visas are sole / own responsibility of clients.

CANCELLATION & BOOKING CHANGES FOR BHUTAN:

01: Required minimum of 30 days for cancellation notice prior to trip departure and it must be in written form, such notice will be implied from the day the note is received. Cancellation shall be valid after the company approval on receiving the documentation. The Trip shall then be termed as cancelled and then 50% of the trip amount would be deducted from the advance paid as cancellation charge.

02: There will be no refunds if a passenger cancels the trip or leaves a trip for any reason whatsoever, either voluntarily, involuntarily or if you commit any unlawful act after the trip has commenced. We will make no refunds for any meals, accommodation or services not used.

03: On the eve of trip departure if you are prevented in joining the chosen tour, unfortunately there is no refund regarding this, transfer or postponing options are available as the Bhutanese Government has strict Tourism act and policies.

BHUTAN VISAS & PASSPORT CONDITIONS:

All clients requested to have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity from return date. For Bhutan visas you need to send your passport details to Destination Holidays for visa applications at least 45 days prior to the fix departure date.

TIBET CANCELLATION & BOOKING CHANGES:

01: As per the company rules, there will be no refund to clients with less than 20 days notice given to us, on or before Trip departure and if a clients leaves the trip earlier for due to personal or medical reason whatsoever, either voluntarily or involuntarily and if committed any unlawful act after the trip has commenced. Then the company is compelled to make no refunds for any meals, accommodation or services not used.

02: If client require any changes from the chosen original tour, the person who have booked the tour must submit a written document with any changes required. Then we will make every effort after the notification, but the changes cannot be guaranteed.

03: If you are compelled to cancel from travelling on the tour by genuine reason or circumstances, for example (without restriction) due to death, injury or any serious illness of the person, close relative or friends, redundancy or jury service, in this case one may postpone or transfer your booking to another close person, as long or provided they meet all the requirements relating to that trip. You are requested to provide proof of why you were unable to travel at the time and need to change your booking.

NEPAL / TIBET VISAS & PASSPORT CONDITION:

All clients are requested to have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the return date. Nepal visas can be obtained from the Nepal Consulate or Embassy in your country or upon arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport.  The costs of Nepalese visas are sole responsibility of clients.

As you are unable to obtain visas to Tibet you need to send your passport details to Destination Holidays for visa applications to this country, we require this information at least three weeks prior to departure.

HEALTH & FITNESS:

All Treks and Tours requires where one should be in sound health and good level of fitness before signing trip with us, client requires should with your Doctor or Physician regarding your health and fitness before the trip departures to Himalayan destinations.

It’s solely client’s responsibility to inform Eco Holidays Nepal of any pre-existing medical condition or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your required medical attention, which may affect your capability to travel on the trips booked with us.

CHILDREN:

An authorized guardian by the parents must accompany all travelers under the age of sixteen. If you have any queries regarding age and suitability, please contact us for further information.

PUBLICITY:

Request to allow Eco Holidays Nepal to use pictures, snaps or images of you taken during the trip without being informed and as well without compensation, for company promotion and advertising purpose only through whatever medium takes place.

CHANGES TO YOUR HOLIDAY AND PRICING:

Travelling with us requires a degree of flexibility, positive attitude good humor and understanding where mode of transport, accommodation and itineraries may change, even after the tour has commenced, without prior notice due to local circumstances such as flight delay, cancellation or postponement, road block due to riots and political crises.

WEATHER:

Himalayan regions or other unpredictable circumstances such as land-slides, road blockage, flood, snow, political unrest or delay arrival etc. Eco Holidays Nepal is unable to refund any payment under the above circumstances due to prior supplier arrangements. If possible we will always endeavor to provide you an alternative or substitute trip of same category.

Eco Holidays Nepal does not accept any responsibility for loss on employment, delays or compensation resulting from situations beyond our control.

Our holidays, tour / trek packages, are based on twin share accommodation. Thus, single room supplement charge will be imposed to clients who do not have another tour participant to share accommodation with.

We reserve the right to revise pricing rates posted in our marketing material, under any circumstances, or on the pressure of various external factors that are further than our control, for instance changes in exchange rate, government action etc.

PRIVACY:

In order to gather information from you to make a booking through Eco Holidays Nepal  Destination, may ask many questions to obtain necessary permits etc. No private or personal information that you supply to us when making a booking will be disclosed for any other purposes.

RISK & LIABILITIES:

We are committed to providing the best services which will give you a once in a life time journey in this connection, we perform our duties honestly & seriously to make your journey very smooth & pleasant. However, the entire program is conducted strictly under the rules and regulation of theirs’ own policies.

Eco Holidays Nepal shall not be responsible for any changes in the itinerary due to unavoidable circumstance such as govt. restriction, Land slide, road blockage, flood, snow political unrest, cancellation of flight, delay, sickness or accident, Any extra cost incurring there of shall be borne by the clients on the spots.

COMPLAINTS:

Should you have a complaint about the trip or tour you must make it known to a tour leader or guide at the earliest opportunity who will take the appropriate action.

IMPACT OF THE JOURNEY:

Client also should understand that what you might be accustomed to the western affluent countries, Himalayan or Third World and Developing Countries can’t afford such facilities.

Weather is another factor that directly impact on the journey. Hence, patience and positive in mind, enthusiasm and proper preparation before hand is must in taking part around third world countries.

The best thing is to take as it comes and think positively, then you will enjoy the holiday with us.

Travel Insurance:

You must have complete travel insurance package against medical, travel for natural calamity, helicopter evacuation, personal accident, trip cancellation etc. This is strongly suggested to all our respected clients.

Tour Amendment:

To make alterations of any trek / tour itinerary, prior notice is requested.

You are advised to stay in touch with us thus, but occasionally, you may be obliged to do so en route under certain circumstance for instance bad weather etc.

Your personal belongings:

On any account, we are not responsible for any loss or damage of your baggage / luggage or property even when it is shouldered by Eco Holiday Nepal  porters, yaks-ponies or vehicles.

That means your personal possessions; luggage might be at your risk at the times, and however our trip escorts and guides will provide necessary safety precautions that this does not arise while with us.

Papers & Documents:

All necessary documents should be presented in sequence for example to issue visa, obtain necessary permits etc. We are not accountable in case of any trip formality not completed in time before the trip departure on the absence of essential papers and documents.

Risk & Responsibility:

Assuring your complete safety and satisfaction which is our main responsibility and concern, we therefore carry out our service sincerely & earnestly ensuring a hassle free holiday.

Nevertheless, unless stated otherwise, trip may change under uncertain and inherent circumstances such as land-slides, road block, floods, heavy snow, political unrest, cancellation of flight, delay arrival, sickness or accidents etc. Any extra cost incurring there is your personal responsibility and should be borne on the spot.

02: Guided Sightseeing tours in Kathmandu as per trip itinerary with applicable entrance fees and private coach and cars.

03: Twin sharing accommodation at tourist of 3 to 4 or 5 stars standard hotels in Kathmandu on Bed / Breakfast basis (Unless booked for Single Room Supplement) includes other cities with similar standard hotels.

04: Domestic Airfare as per the trip selected and Itinerary.

05: Applicable Trekking / Climbing Peaks / National or Conservation Permit Fees.

06: On full board trekking on Lodge basis with twin sharing accommodation includes all meals (breakfast-lunch and dinner)

07: On Camping services includes twin sharing tents (unless booked for single supplement) with separate kitchen unit backed by cook, kitchen staffs, guides and porters (in some area we use pack animals Yaks or Mules).

08: Private comfortable cars, coach or bus (as per the size of the group) on long driving journeys as per the trip selected.

09: Group Orientation program on do’s and don’ts regarding your trip.

10: International Air Tickets Re-Confirmation.

11: Our guide will have basic First Aid and Medical Kits.

03: Expenses of Personal Nature-Gratitude and Meals in Kathmandu and Pokhara as per the program.

04: Personal Trekking / Climbing gear and equipment, down or duvet jackets, sleeping bags. (Sleeping bags and down jackets and climbing equipment can be hired in Kathmandu at reasonable cost if it’s too much to carry from home)

05: Emergency Evacuation if necessary by any means of transportation including Helicopter

and personal medical kit as prescribed by your doctors.

Trek / Tour Grades information:

Leisure tours or walking trips:

For any physically fit of all ages with sound health, these trips involves short walking days of few hours and more of tour with scenic drives at places of interest.  The whole trip goes from 4-5 to 8 days on trek or scenic tour.

On rafting for a day or two days.

Moderate Trips:

For any physically fit of all ages that have done normal walk and with sound health. These trips involves few ups and down and the length of treks will be from 4-5 hours of walk every day with plenty of break in between. The whole trip goes from 2-5 to 8 days.

Adventurous Trips:

For physically fit person of all ages with sound health who have done moderate to vigorous walk or activity before or at present. These kind of treks involves long ups and down and the length of treks will be from 6-7 hours of walk every day with break in between. The whole trip goes from 10 to 20 days in the high altitude. On Rafting it involves river expedition for 7 -10 days.
