Itinerary

Explore all the highlights of Sarawak and the North of Sabah, traveling to the northern-most tip of Borneo to enjoy the wonderful view on this dramatic headland.

Tour program

Day 1

Kuching

Arrive Kuching before 1200pm. 

At 2pm, begin the walkabout guided tour, that will take you to the streets of Kuching showcasing the beauty of the city of unity and its heritage buildings, some dating back to more than a century old. Visit the Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple, colourful local markets and spice shops. View the Astana from the waterfront. (Tour does not include the visit to Borneo Cultural Museum, Kuching).

Day 2

Kuching – Bako National Park – Kuching (46 km) [B/L]

Explore Bako National Park, 16 square kilometers of primary forest and wildlife and its natural beauty of rocks and cliffs. There are 25 types of vegetation ranging from lush cliffs and lowland dipterocarp forests to almost desert-like scrubs on the upper plateau. Observe up close wild orchids, pitcher plants and look out for proboscis monkeys, bearded pigs, and hundreds of bird species. 

Day 3

Kuching – Mulu (By air) [B/D]

Morning flight to Mulu. Mulu National Park is home to the largest cave passage in the world, known to have 1500 species of flowering plants, 170 species of wild orchids and 67 species of animals (sighting of animals is not guaranteed). 


In the afternoon, enjoy the 3 km raised plank walk to explore the Deer and Lang Caves – the largest cave passage in the world. Walk through the peat swamp forest, and if the weather permits, be mesmerized by millions of bats which fly around the cave each evening.


Day 4

Mulu [B/L/D]

Explore more of Mulu caves with a boat ride to Clearwater Cave. Swim at a crystal-clear water pool near the Clearwater Cave. Explore the Wind Cave and visit a Batu Bungan Penan native Settlement. 


Day 5

Mulu – Kota Kinabalu (by air) [B]

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to your hotel on arrival. Free at leisure. 

Day 6

Kota Kinabalu – Kudat (tip of Borneo) (179 km) [B/L/D]

Visit Kota Belud, home to the Cowboys of the East, the Bajau, a small sleepy town except during the native market day every Sunday. Visit to the Sumangkap Village, well known for its "Gong" making skill by its local artisan and Gombizau Honeybee Farm. Continue to the Bavanggazo Village- home to the Rungus people community. The Rungus natives are known for their beads and basket-weaving handicrafts. 

Day 7

Kudat – Kota Kinabalu (179 km) [B/L]

Before returning to Kota Kinabalu, enjoy the spectacular view of the northern most tip of Borneo, overlooking the South China Sea. The rest of the day in Kota Kinabalu is at leisure.

Day 8

Kota Kinabalu – Mangrove Cruise - (206 km) – Kota Kinabalu [B/D]

Enjoy an afternoon mangrove cruise with a 02hrs overland journey to Klias Forest Reserve, for the river cruise in search of wildlife. If you are lucky, catch the sight of the bizarre proboscis monkey “Nasalis Lavatus” or the fireflies in their natural habitat. ** Tour is subject to weather conditions. 

Day 9

Kota Kinabalu – Kinabalu National Park – Kota Kinabalu (195 km) [B/L]

A full day excursion to Kinabalu National Park, the base of the highest mountain in Southeast Asia. Explore this botanist’s paradise, home to over 1500 species of orchids, 330 species of birds, 26 species of rhododendrons, ferns, pitcher plants and other vegetation. Enjoy a guided nature walk, the exhibition hall and a slide presentation. Return to Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to the airport for your onward departure flight or extend your stay in Kota Kinabalu. (recommended flight out to be after 1900hrs onwards).

Cancelations made 60 days or less prior to arrival:  subject to cancellation fee (by the hotel)

Cancellations made 30 days or less prior to arrival: subject to 50% cancellation fees.

Cancellations made 21 days or less prior to arrival: subject to 75%  cancellation fees.

Cancellations made 14 days or less prior to arrival: subject to 100% cancellation charge.

No Show/ Shorten Stay: subject to 100% cancellation charges.

 


Do note that Cancellation fees are levied by Asian Overland Services in cases where charges arise from outside contractors or where actions taken extend beyond reservation for tours and hotel accommodation. Charges are levied at the sole discretion of Asian Overland Services for operation planning, consulting and ancillary expenses relating to development of services of a specialized nature.


General PAYMENT Term

Non-refundable deposits may be required for certain product (program involving Selingan Island and Mountain Climbing), or if travel during high season. A deadline to make deposit payment will be advice upon booking confirmation.

Full Payment is required to be made for all services at least 30 days before travel period, or by the given dateline.
