The Australian Camp and Sarangkot Trek is one of the most impressive trekking routes close to the city of lakes Pokhara. Easily assessable having moderate trails this trek is ideal for all age groups. Exploring lush woodlands, mountains, and various settlements the trek gives a perspective of the rural lifestyle of the country.
The Australian Camp Trek starts from Phedi, a small settlement on the outskirts of the valley. From here traversing across terrace fields and lush agricultural land start the trek. As you progress and gain altitude follow the forested trail and reach Australian Camp. A tiny village nestled on a flat grassland with grand views of the greater Himalayas and lush rolling hills of central Nepal.
Next following through verdant woodlands and ridge sections dotted with dense settlements move to Sarangkot hill. Sarangkot is regarded as one of the best vantage points in Pokhara. From here witness panoramic views of the valley covered with lakes and concert jungles, lush agriculture belts, distance rows of hills, and the Himalayas. Soak in the views of sunset changing the colors of the snowy white peaks of Annapurna Massif, Fishtail Mountain, Dhaulagiri range, and Manaslu into an array of colors. The following day catches the grandeur views of the sun rising. Then traversing through picturesque hills covered with villages and terrace farms head down towards the valley.
