From a spa town to the ‚Lago’

Perhaps you have already driven through South Tyrol on your way south – on the motorway, by car. Perhaps you have already guessed how beautiful the landscape is between Tyrol and the sea. But a cycling holiday in South Tyrol will definitely open up a whole new world for you. Between Merano and Lake Garda there are fantastic cycle paths that offer you exciting rides – past ice worlds, mountain ranges, orchards and vineyards. Let South Tyrol literally melt in your mouth, because Caldaro wines and fruit are world famous. Would you like to swap your car for a Eurobike bike? Wonderful, because this cycle tour is ideal for newbies!

Details about a cycling holiday in South Tyrol

Always along the Adige, always a little downhill – and therefore with a certain feeling of tailwind: this is the bike route from Merano to Lake Garda. The seven-day cycle tour through South Tyrol is particularly popular with leisure cyclists and beginners, as the route is easy and offers enough time for sightseeing and relaxation.

Useful information about a cycling holiday through South Tyrol

The starting point of the cycle tour is the Mediterranean spa town of Merano. The best way to enjoy the sunset on the promenade is with a glass of wine! The next day, the week of cycling begins with a ride on the Venosta Railway towards Resia pass. The daily tours are between 30 and 70 kilometres long and follow mostly flat paths. Only smaller climbs to Lake Caldaro and Lake Garda can be expected.

Take the Vinschgau railway towards the Reschenpass. First, you go from Mals to Glurns (a completely preserved medieval town wall). Via the Montani ruins through Schlanders down to Merano. Castles and palaces (Juval Castle of the mountaineer Reinhold Messner) are located on or high above the path. You can enjoy views of the impressive Ortler massif and the Stilfserjoch while cycling. The route can be shortened individually.
