Ecuador Biking Spirit 8 Days Tour

On this day we will discover Quito City by bike trough the steep streets and impressive monuments that are all over the town. We will start at the hotel area well known as the tourist point or Mariscal Zone. As soon as we enter to the old town you will see the changes in the Architecture from the 16 and 17 Century trapped in time contrasting with the new City life style. 

The places that we will visit are as follows: Ejido Park, National Congress Building, Alameda Park, Sucre Square, Main Square, Compania Church, Garcia Moreno Avenue, La Ronda Street, Cumanda City Park, Santo Domingo, Basilica Church. After this we will return to the hotel for the last overnight on this tour.

Optional we can visit Teleferico known as Quito’s Cable Car (EXTRA COST PLEASE CONFIRM IT WITH THE TOUR OPERATOR).

Early in the morning we will drive you to step each foot on the Equator Museum well known as INTIÑAN or the Trail of the Sun. After this visit, we will drive back to Quito center where we will start the biking tour down to Tandayapa valley.

The Starting of the Biking will be at Nono town located at 9000 ft and just 10 miles away from Quito center. The total distance on bike is 19 miles (3 hours approx.) mainly is downhill. The altitude at the end of the day will be 4260 ft.

On the way back we will stop in many places to admire the nature and the wonderful landscapes. We will also stop at the trout farm four a delicious lunch before and resting a little bet. Then we will continue down to Tandayapa valley where we will stay overnight in one of the best Bird Lodges of the area. 

This activity is being customized for guest who have a little experience on MTB tours, however if you don't have any record on bikes but you feel that you can do it, You are more than welcome to join us!!! We will always have our driver to assist us at any time of the journey.

Early in the morning before breakfast as an optional, you can walk through the gardens and spot a great number of hummingbirds flying around the vegetation, such a great starting of the day!

After breakfast we will continue by car towards Nanegal for our first hour on bike on a scenery road, then we will arrive at a little community called Playa Rica where we will rest trying local fruits, then we will continue cycling up and the downhill towards Garcia Moreno Road, before the end we will go across Guayllabamba river and the province border trough the magical cloud forest.

After this activity it is time to relax at the local hot springs well known as Nangulvi and finally we will enjoy the rest of the afternoon at the Hotel Gardens and views of the Western Andes.

In summary, this is a long day on a bike and it will be bringing you with a lot of adrenaline enjoying nature.... the total distance covered on bike is 38 miles and the altitude at the end of the day is 5000 ft.

Morning departure by car towards to Cuicocha lake , at the place you will pedal trough iconic trails and great views. There is a possibility to see the entire crater and cotacachi volcano. 

Then it is a dramatic descent passing by some indigenous villages on the way to the leather town (Cotacachi city). Finally to the hotel for overnight , if you prefer you can explore the town on your own since that is very attractive and safe to walk around.

We will visit the most famous Indian Market in Ecuador with more than 1000 years of history. It won't be a cycling day it will be a sightseeing day instead to discover the wonders of Northern Andes.

So, we will start visiting the Handcraft market where you can enjoy 1-hour walking around the picturesque Poncho’s Plaza, then we will visit Peguche waterfall and finally you will enjoy the leather town on your own. We will have a delightful BBQ at the Guest House and we might learn how to make a typical welcome drink in the Andes called Canelazo.

On this day we will cycle at 12,000 ft., this is going to be the highest day in altitude and very demanding one, however this is not a problem after few days biking around on tour.

We will drive from the hotel towards Las Lagunas de Mojanda, from there we will start our biking, most of the tour will be downhill. We recommend to have at least two layers of clothes because at this altitude the temperature is always around 42°F.

We will be cycling trough unique sites at the Paramo area or well known as the Andean Grasslands and finally we will arrive to Tabacundo town located much lower than the starting point, 27 miles farther south of the lakes area. From this place we will drive 2 hours back to Quito hotel for overnight.
