Itinerary

We invite you to Explore the Garden Route. Join our awesome private / small group tour with overnight stays in Knysna and Oudtshoorn.

Experience the spectacular Cango Caves and the comical Ostrich. View seals, whales and marine bird-life in Mossel Bay. Stroll along pristine beaches with no other footprints – only the endangered Oystercatcher. Visit ancient forests where elusive wild elephants and leopards lurk in the shadows. See Giant Yellowwood trees at Natures Valley. Drive through the Cape Floral Kingdom of Fynbos and Proteas.

Take a boat cruise to the stunning Knysna Heads and delight in the shopping and fine culinary foods at the Knysna Waterfront. Taste oysters and some of the regions finest wine, craft beers and fresh juices.

The tour is conducted by an experienced chauffeur driver/ guide / host who will remain with you throughout the tour. Luxury accommodation is in four star Guest Houses, Lodges or Villas and includes daily breakfasts. Also included are some Lunches and Entry fees to Activities / Attractions as per itinerary. A minimum of 2 adults is required for this tour to take place, if you are a solo traveller, you must enquire prior to booking.

Tour program

Day 1

Port Elizabeth to Knysna

Departure is from your Port Elizabeth Hotel at 09h30. On reaching the Garden Route our route follows the coastal road winding its way along river gorges, over breathtaking mountain passes and through dense indigenous forests. We stop for a coffee break at the Bloukrans Gorge where you can observe ‘crazy’ people jumping off a 280m high bridge – attached to a bungee rope of course.

Our exploration of this ancient forest includes a drive through Natures Valley, which winds its way through the tangle of trees, ferns and creepers to massive Outeniqua Yellowwood trees. Enjoy a short walk in the forest or on the beach.

There will be an opportunity for a visit to the Tenikwa Wildlife Sanctuary. Guests may embark on an optional lagoon cruise.

Accommodation is in the Knysna Waterfront or a local Guest House. Free for dinner at the Knysna Waterfront.

Day 2

Knysna and Surrounding Region

After breakfast we visit the Knysna Region. Explore the Knysna Heads, Coney Glen Beach, Brenton and Buffalo Bay. A forest Hike is also available.

The afternoon is free for optional activities such as Whale Watching, kayaking the Knysna Lagoon, or the popular Knysna Township Trail.

Free for dinner at the Knysna Waterfront.

Day 3

Knysna to Oudtshoorn

After Breakfast there is time for a look at the arts and crafts market before we depart for Oudtshoorn. Our first stop is the Cango Caves. Visit one of the great wonders of Africa - the subterranean wonderland of the Cango Caves for a tour of this vast sequence of caverns, each filled with astonishing formations of glittering dripstones.

Enjoy a tasting of local wines, craft beers, craft gin or juice. Lunch will be a bread and cheese platter at the Karusa Wine Estate.

We end the day with a stop at an Ostrich Ranch where flocks of these strange birds are kept. We are shown their development from the egg to the 100 kg adult.

Overnight in Oudtshoorn at a 4 star Guest House or Villa.

Day 4

Visit Mossel Bay & George

After breakfast we head down to Mossel Bay. Enjoy an optional boat ride out to Seal Island to view seals, whales and sometimes the Great White Shark. We also explore the Diaz Museum.

After an opportunity to do some last minute shopping and enjoy lunch at the seaside, we drop off our guests in the early afternoon at George Airport for your onward flight or coach transport to Cape Town or Port Elizabeth.
