Central Dalmatia
Continue in a southerly direction. Your destination is the former pirate town of Omiš. The small town enjoys a unique location, directly at the mouth of the Adriatic Sea and the river Cetina. Omiš is an ideal starting point for a variety of hikes in the Biokovo Nature Park, where you can always expect a fabulous view of the sea. Had enough of exploring and being active? Then the beautiful Makarska Riviera invites you to swim and bathe. Overnight stay in a hotel in the Dalmatia Split region as per option.
North Dalmatia
Drive towards northern Dalmatia; an excursion paradise! It is worth driving along the beautiful coastal road. A must is a stop in the Unesco cultural heritage city of Split; the gateway to the Dalmatian islands. The port city is characterized by its old town with its cultural monuments, the local mountain Marjan and the view of the vastness of the sea. Stroll through the narrow streets and alleyways, marvel at the unique Diocletian's Palace and enjoy a coffee on the legendary "Riva" seafront promenade. On your onward journey, you will also pass the medieval town of Trogir (UNESCO), which invites you to take a stroll. You will spend the next three nights in the former fishing village of Vodice, which is one of the liveliest towns on the coast and offers great beaches. From here you have excellent opportunities for excursions: the Kornati National Park with its more than 164 islands, islets and reefs, the Krka National Park with its thundering waterfalls, or the town of Sibenik, which is home to the proud cathedral of St. Jakov (UNESCO), to name just a few highlights. Continue towards the last stop on your journey; Opatija, past the Roman town of Zadar, which is over 2000 years old and well worth seeing, with numerous cultural and historical monuments and the Paklenica Nature Park, which is considered an Eldorado for mountaineers and hikers. Take your time and drive under the Velebit mountain range, along the old Adriatic highway. Wild bays, lonely villages and bare-looking islands characterize the picture here. A stop in Senj is also a must! Who doesn't know the well-known children's book "The Red Zora and her gang", which is set in the historic town and especially in Nehaj Castle.
