Day 1

Antananarivo

Reception at Ivato Antananarivo airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Tulear. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Free stay in this famous destination where seaside tourism enthusiasts can enjoy the sun all year long, sandy beach, quad bike ride by the sea, boat trip, water sports, ... Overnight at the hotel . Departure for Ranohira. Stop for a visit of the Antsokay Arboretum which is the perfect place for flora lovers as there are about 900 plant species, which 90% are endemic. Continuation of road RN7 and appreciation of baobabs in the beautiful scenery of the spectacular Great South landscape. Crossing of the Mahafaly plateau and its numerous tombs surmounted by Aloalo (carved wooden posts). The Mahafaly tomb is a funerary art with representative drawings of the deceased's life. Day dedicated to the visit of Isalo national park. This ruiniform massif is a 80 000 ha protected area. It is above all the habitat of numerous species of fauna and flora scattered throughout the reserve. Apart from reptiles and lemurs, 77 species of birds live there, which 70% are endemic. Hiking in the canyons, and swimming in natural pools will also be in the program. For the more athletic, possibility to visit the reserve by bike (optional). Towards the end of the afternoon, admiration of the sunset through the Isalo Window, an opportunity to take some pictures. Overnight at the hotel. Included: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, and Dinner.

Continuation to Fianarantsoa. Visit en route of the Anja village reserve which is a park created by the inhabitants of this place rich in biodiversity. We can observe the makis catta. 15km further north, stop at Ambalavao to visit an Antemoro papermaking workshop which is a local handicraft specialty based on avoha, a fibrous bark. Departure for Antsirabe. All along the road we will appreciate the beautiful traditional houses typical of the highlands. Arrival at Ambositra, visit of the workshops of the most famous Malagasy artisans; their know-how in marquetry and woodcarving better known as "art zafimaniry", are so sublime that one can leave the city of Ambositra only after buying their product as a souvenir. Overnight at the hotel. Included: Breakfast and Dinner.

Continuation of the road towards the East of Madagascar while admiring one last time the beautiful landscapes of the Highlands with their sumptuous valleys, small villages, and rice fields. Overnight at the hotel. Included: Breakfast and Dinner.

In the morning, visit the Analamazaotra special reserve, where you can observe an immense diversity of fauna and flora, including the Indri indri which has several characterisitcs: it is the largest and the most noisy lemurs. The indri is also interesting due to the fact that it has no tail and above all, it is monogamous. In all, 12 species of lemurs live in this reserve, including the tawny lemur. In the afternoon, discovery of some tamed lemurs widespread throughout the sparse islets. Overnight at the hotel. Included: Breakfast and Dinner.

Early departure for Tamatave. In the afternoon, visit of the city whose port is the largest in Madagascar. Overnight at the hotel. Included: Breakfast and Dinner.

Transfer to the port of Soanieran'Ivongo, then embarkation aboard a boat to reach Sainte Marie (Nosy Boraha), one of the most popular destinations in Madagascar. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Spend an unforgettable holiday on an authentic island in this place that offers all the opportunities that a traveler looking for a total change of scenery aspires: whale safari (July to September), whale festival (July), diving centers, expedition in primitive forests, magnificent beaches, water sports, etc ...
