Itinerary
Via Transilvanica (in English: The Transylvanian Trail) is a hiking trail which crosses the Transylvania, Bukovina and Banat regions of Romania, and is meant to promote their respective cultural, ethnic, historical and natural diversity. It was built between 2018 and 2022, with its design and conception heavily inspired by historical pilgrims' ways and hiking trails, such as The Way of St. James and The Appalachian Trail. Starting at Putna, Suceava County, it stretches over 1,428 kilometres (887 miles), 10 counties of Romania, over 400 communities, and 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites, ending in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Mehedinți County. Its motto is "The road that unites".

Day 1

Day 2
Hike: Archita - Crit (24 km / 8 hours hike / 434 m)
After breakfast you will visit the fortified church in Archit and then start the easy hike.
Today's route is very well marked and mostly goes through the forest. To be able to go to the beautiful pasture You can also take the Piknik for lunch.
In the afternoon you reach Crit (German Cross) where you visit the interesting fortified church.
Dinner and room check-in for 1 night in Crit.
Day 3
Hike: Crit – Saschiz (14 km / 4.5 hours hike / 330 m)
After breakfast we pack our daily provisions.
Today you have an easy route through Saxon villages.
There is an opportunity to visit the Protestant fortified churches in Cloasterf.
In the afternoon you arrive in Saschiz, the reborn Saxon village. Visit to the fortified church and free time in Saschiz
Dinner and room check-in for 1 night in Saschiz.
Day 4
Hike: Saschiz – Sapartoc (19 km / 6 hours. Hike / 565 m)
The hiking trail takes you along roads Saxon villages, hamlets forgotten by the world,
of very inhabited by a few people and for centuries, forests.
You also arrive in the spectacular village of Daia, where talk to the villagers about everyday life
can and also about the village of Vulcan.

Day 5
Hike: Sapartoc – Stejărenii (24 km / 7.5 hours hike / 535 m)
After breakfast we continue on today's moderately difficult hike.
We will have longer forest paths and in the villages/city of Sighisoara there will also be asphalt.
At lunchtime you will be in Sighisoara where you will have lunch at a local restaurant
can refresh.
In the afternoon we go to the Breite Plateau - a hilly area from the bottom of the
evergreen, which is covered with hilly pastures and several species of oak trees, including
Centuries-old oak trees that are between 400 and 600 years old.
Later in the afternoon to the Saxon village of Stejărenii

Day 6
Hike: Stejărenii – Malancrav (16.5 km / 5.5 hours hike / 515 m)
After breakfast we pack our daily provisions.
Today we have a shorter tour ahead of us with an easy level of difficulty.
The route takes us up the hills, through forests and meadows and over the villages of Cris and Floresti.
In the afternoon you will reach the idyllic village of Malancrav (German: Malmkrog), where you will visit the church with a will visit unique paintings.
Dinner and room check-in for 1 night in Malancrav
Day 7
Hike: Malancrav – Biertan (15.5 km / 5.5 hours hike / 619 m)
After breakfast we continue via the Transylvanian-Saxon ones hills and deciduous forests from Transylvania. The easy today's hike takes you through the villages of Copsa Mare (German Grosskopisch), where you can also Visit the fortified church.
After 1.5 km of asphalt road we continue over the hills to Biertan with beautiful panoramic viewpoints.
In the afternoon you arrive in Biertan (German: Birthälm), where you will visit the famous fortified church (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Dinner and overnight stay for 1 night in Biertan.
Day 8
Departure
After breakfast, depending on the time of return, transfer to Sibiu Airport or station.
