Nach dem Frühstück begeben Sie sich auf eine Stadtrundfahrt durch Dakar und seine Umgebung. Beginnen Sie mit einem Besuch des Afrika-Renaissance-Denkmals, einer 2010 enthüllten, 164 Fuß hohen Statue, die Dakar überragt und höher ist als die Freiheitsstatue. Diese einst umstrittene Bronzestatue ist heute eine beliebte Attraktion. Sie stellt einen Mann, eine Frau und ein Kind dar, die auf einander zeigen und die neue afrikanische Hoffnung symbolisieren. Die Kleidung der Frau wurde auf eine bescheidenere Länge angepasst, um kulturelle Empfindlichkeiten zu berücksichtigen.
Als nächstes besuchen Sie den Unabhängigkeitsplatz, das Herz von Dakar, wo Sie am Präsidentenpalast und der Hauptkathedrale vorbeikommen. Anschließend fahren Sie zum Museum der Schwarzen Zivilisation, einem gewaltigen vierstöckigen Komplex, der den Traum des ersten Präsidenten Senegals, Leopold Sedar Senghor, erfüllt. Fahren Sie mit der 20-minütigen Fähre zur charmanten und zugleich berüchtigten Insel Goree, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehört. Erkunden Sie die ruhigen Straßen, die von pastellfarbenen Gebäuden aus der Kolonialzeit gesäumt sind. Eines der bemerkenswertesten Gebäude hier ist das Haus der Sklaven, das die tragische Geschichte von Goree dokumentiert. Sehen Sie das "Tor ohne Wiederkehr", durch das Millionen von Menschen auf ihrem Weg in die Sklaverei gingen.
Die Tour beinhaltet einen Besuch des ethnographischen Museums und einen Vortrag über die Geschichte von Goree. Nach dem Mittagessen kehren Sie nach Dakar zurück und besuchen den Pink Lake, ein seltenes Naturphänomen, das für seine rosa Farbe bekannt ist, die durch Mikroorganismen und eine hohe Salzkonzentration verursacht wird. Sprechen Sie mit Frauen, die Salz ernten und besuchen Sie ein nahe gelegenes Fulani-Dorf. Schließlich fahren Sie weiter nach Saly, wo Sie am Abend ein Bad im Meer nehmen können.

Der erste Besuch gilt dem W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, das das Leben des prominenten Panafrikanisten ehrt, der sich entschied, in Ghana zu leben und zu arbeiten. Weiter geht es zum Independence Square, wo Sie die eingeschlossene Flamme der afrikanischen Befreiung sehen, die 1961 von Dr. Kwame Nkrumah entzündet wurde. Anschließend besuchen Sie den Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, die letzte Ruhestätte von Ghanas erstem Präsidenten. Der Park ist von attraktiven Gärten umgeben und beherbergt ein Museum, das Fotos, Artefakte und Einblicke in Dr. Nkrumahs Leben bietet. Neben dem Park befindet sich das Nationale Kulturzentrum, Ghanas größter Markt für Kunst und Kunsthandwerk im Freien, auf dem traditionelles Kunsthandwerk aus ganz Westafrika verkauft wird.

Nach dem Frühstück checken wir aus unserem Hotel aus und fahren weiter Richtung Osten nach Akosombo. Unterwegs besuchen wir den Teshie Casket/Coffin Shop, wo einzigartig gestaltete Särge hergestellt werden, die den Glauben der Menschen an ein Leben nach dem Tod widerspiegeln. Der Laden wurde in den 1950er Jahren von Seth Kane Kwei fast zufällig gegründet. Er stellte Sänften her, die auch als Sänften oder Sänftenstühle bekannt sind und mit denen Stammeshäuptlinge bei traditionellen Festen getragen werden. Ein Häuptling, der eine Sänfte in Form einer Kakaoschote bestellt hatte, starb unerwartet vor dem Fest und wurde deshalb in der Sänfte begraben.
Kurz darauf starb seine Großmutter, die ihre erste Überseereise per Flugzeug geplant hatte, vor der Reise und auch sie wurde in einem Sarg in Form eines Flugzeugs beerdigt. "Der dritte ausgefallene Sarg war für einen Fischer, der in einem Kanu beerdigt wurde. So wurde die Industrie der ausgefallenen Särge ins Leben gerufen. Weiterfahrt nach Kumasi, wo Sie am späten Nachmittag ankommen; Transfer zum Hotel und Check-in.

Genießen Sie heute eine landschaftlich reizvolle Fahrt durch mehrere Dörfer mit Häusern im Stil der Ashanti-Kultur in der umliegenden üppigen Landschaft, die einen starken Kontrast zur modernen Stadt Kumasi bildet. Fahren Sie durch Ejisu, die Heimat von Nana Yaa Asantewaa, der Königinmutter von Ejisu, die im Jahr 1900 Ashanti-Kriegerinnen in einer Schlacht gegen die Briten anführte. Setzen Sie Ihre Fahrt fort und besuchen Sie die drei Handwerksdörfer. Adanwomase ist unser erstes Handwerksdorf, in dem wir sehen werden, wie das berühmte Kente-Tuch auf Webstühlen in einer altehrwürdigen, über Generationen weitergegebenen Tradition hergestellt wird. Sehen Sie sich die Kente-Muster an, von denen jedes eine Bedeutung hat. Sie werden die Gelegenheit haben, Einkäufe zu tätigen. Vielleicht statten wir dem Häuptling dieser Gemeinde inmitten von Trommeln und Tänzen einen Höflichkeitsbesuch ab oder besichtigen ihre Kakaofarmen (muss im Voraus arrangiert werden). Wir fahren weiter in das Dorf Ntonso, wo Kunsthandwerker von Hand Muster auf Baumwollstoffe stempeln, um Adinkra-Textilien herzustellen. Schwarz-auf-Schwarz und Schwarz-auf-Rot Adinkra-Stoffe werden zu Beerdigungen und anderen feierlichen Anlässen getragen. Erfahren Sie, wie der schwarze Farbstoff im Dorf aus der Rinde von Bäumen hergestellt wird und stellen Sie Ihre eigene Adinkra-Schärpe her, die Sie mit nach Hause nehmen können. Sie können auch große Stücke des im Dorf handgefertigten Adinkra-Stoffes kaufen.
Unser letztes Dorf ist das Holzschnitzerdorf Ahwiaa, das für seine talentierten Handwerker bekannt ist, die königliche Hocker, Spazierstöcke und Fruchtbarkeitspuppen aus Holz anfertigen; hier haben Sie die Möglichkeit, handgeschnitzte Gegenstände aller Art zu kaufen. Weiter geht es ins Zentrum von Kumasi, das eine ganze Reihe von Gebäuden aus der britischen Kolonialzeit beherbergt und das Herz der Ashanti-Kultur ist. Wir genießen eine Fahrt durch die Stadt mit Denkmälern, die dem Andenken des großen Ashanti-Volkes gewidmet sind, auf unserem Weg zum Okomfo Anokye Schwertplatz, einem wichtigen Symbol der Einheit der Ashanti, das die Stelle markiert, an der der goldene Schemel "vom Himmel herabgestiegen" ist und seit über 300 Jahren an seinem Platz steht. Heute brechen wir zu einem weiteren Abenteuer in den Küstenregionen Ghanas auf - Elmina und Cape Coast. Unterwegs halten wir in Assin Manso, der Begräbnisstätte zweier ehemaliger Sklaven aus den USA und Jamaika, deren sterbliche Überreste im August 1998 während der ersten Emanzipationsfeier Ghanas umgebettet wurden. Ein Besuch des "Sklavenflusses" oder "Donkor Nsuo" bietet die Gelegenheit, den Ort zu sehen, an dem gefangene Afrikaner gewaschen wurden, bevor sie in den Sklavenburgen auf ihre Verschiffung nach Amerika und in die Karibik warteten.
Genießen Sie heute Abend den Anblick der vielen bunten Fischerboote, die ihren täglichen Fang in den Hafen bringen, und nutzen Sie die Gelegenheit, sich auf dem nahe gelegenen Markt unter die Einheimischen zu mischen. Heute besuchen wir das Cape Coast Castle, ein UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Das Schloss ist ein zum Nachdenken anregendes Denkmal für eine erschütternde Zeit in der Geschichte der Region. Sie werden eine emotionale Reise durch das Schloss unternehmen, in dem mehr versklavte Afrikaner als jedes andere in der Region leben, und die Kerker und die berüchtigte „Tür ohne Wiederkehr“ betrachten. Im Inneren befindet sich ein bedeutendes historisches Museum, das die Geschichte des Schlosses und der Cape Coast selbst erklärt. Sie können Literatur über Ghanas Festungen und Burgen sowie über die Kulturgeschichte und Traditionen Ghanas erwerben. Als nächstes besuchen wir Elmina Castle, ein weiteres Weltkulturerbe.
Am späten Nachmittag werden Sie durch die „Fihankra“ gehen. Fihankra ist eine Zeremonie, bei der Menschen afrikanischer Abstammung, die durch den transatlantischen Sklavenhandel verloren gegangen sind, wieder mit dem Mutterland verbunden werden sollen. Diese Zeremonie verbindet die Rückkehrer wieder mit den kulturellen und spirituellen Bindungen, die ihnen seit Jahrhunderten verweigert wurden. These terms apply to independent tours. Group tours have separate deposit and cancellation terms,
which are tour-specific. All payments, deposits, and cancellation amounts listed are per person. To
confirm a reservation the following deposit and final payment terms must be strictly adhered to
and are required at the time of reservation.
Tour Deposit & Final Payment
Deposit Due Per Person is $500 or 25% of tour cost, whichever is greater. We reserve the right to
request additional deposits as required by hotels and suppliers for peak periods such (but not
limited to) Christmas, New Year, Easter, and other holidays. Final Payments are due 45 days
before Tour begins. For reservations received within 45 days of commencement of services, the
entire amount is to be submitted at the time of confirmation. Reservations received within 45 days
of the start of the tour may be subject to a non-refundable rush-booking fee of no less than $125
per person to cover additional expenses incurred to expedite booking.
Cancellation Terms
Continent Tours’ cancellation policy is applied as follows:
Cancellations made 45 days or more prior to the start of the tour will be charged a
cancellation fee of 15% of tour cost with a minimum payment of $ 400 per traveler.
Cancellations made 44 to 30 days prior to the start of the tour will be charged a cancellation
fee of 20% of the tour cost with a minimum payment of $475 per traveler.
Cancellations made 29 to 17 days prior to the tour start date will be charged a cancellation
fee of 25% of the tour cost with a minimum payment of $ 700 per traveler.
Cancellations made 16 days or less prior to the tour start date will be charged a cancellation
fee of 100% of tour cost, No Refund.
Trip Cancellation Insurance Is Recommended
Domestic flight tickets are non-refundable when alternate (land) arrangements are made.
No-shows, late arrivals, voluntary changes, or cancellations by travelers of tour days or services
during a tour are non-refundable. Cancellation insurance is recommended.
Prior to the start of the tour, Continent Tours reserves the right to cancel a tour and will provide a
full refund of all payments. Continent Tours has never canceled a tour but would do so at its sole
discretion should travelers’ safety be of concern. Continent Tours is not responsible for expenses
incurred by travelers in preparing for a trip that is eventually canceled.
Once travelers are at the destination in Africa, Continent Tours will provide comparable alternate
tour arrangements, if the cancellation of a particular tour is deemed necessary. Should travelers
elect not to accept these alternate arrangements, this will constitute voluntary refusal of services,
and no refunds will be given. Pro-rata refunds will be made if alternate arrangements are not
comparable to the original tour services. Please note: Domestic flights may be replaced by ground
transportation if the domestic flight schedule renders flights impossible within the constraints of a
tour and/or the tour dates; in this case, the missed flights are non-refundable as the ticket price will
be used to make alternate land arrangements.
Insurance
Travel insurance while not mandatory is highly recommended and is not included in the tour price.
Tour Prices
Continent Tours prices are stated in U.S. Dollars (USD) and are subject to change until a tour
deposit is received.
Prices do not include international travel to/from Africa, passport fees, entry visa fees, excess
baggage charges, airport taxes, immunizations or other medical fees, non-specified meals,
alcoholic or other beverages, insurance, tips for tour staff, laundry, and other personal expenses.
Responsibilities
It is Continent Tours’ responsibility to provide the services listed with each tour itinerary.
Continent Tours includes this information with every price quote.
All lodging is double occupancy, bed & breakfast; including private baths. Comparable hotel
substitutes will be provided if planned accommodations are not available. For single occupancy, a
single supplement will be applied. Day rooms are not included unless specified. Hotel check-in
and check-out times are 2:00 Pm (1400 hours) and 12 noon (1200 hours).
Continent Tours reserves the right to make itinerary modifications or to change hotels or other tour
components, if these are deemed necessary or advisable for the continuation of the tour, for safety
and security reasons, or to prevent delays that would be detrimental to the tour or its members.
Continent Tours is not responsible for delays or consequences of any delays due to circumstances
beyond Continent Tours’ control. Continent Tours will make every effort to provide alternate and
comparable services if changes are made.
Scheduled domestic flights are sometimes postponed or canceled; Continent Tours is not
responsible for these inconveniences and will, where possible, use the ticket price of missed
domestic flights to make land arrangements. If clients opt to refuse land arrangements Continent
Tours will reimburse the cost of the air tickets when these amounts are refunded to Continent Tours
by the air carrier.
All luggage should have sturdy identification tags and should always be locked. Continent Tours
personnel will assist travelers with lost luggage formalities at the airport. Continent Tours will also
make every effort to forward lost luggage to its owner during the tour; any costs incurred in
forwarding luggage are the responsibility of the traveler. Please note: baggage limits on domestic
flights vary but are usually limited to one item of 10 kilograms (22 pounds) and one carry-on bag.
Additional services required as a result of international flight schedule changes, illness, or
emergencies are the responsibility of the traveler. Continent Tours personnel will do endeavor to
assist travelers who may need to make new flight arrangements. This is done as a courtesy and
implies no responsibility on the part of Continent Tours to find or make new arrangements. The
costs or penalties for any such arrangements are the sole responsibility of the traveler.
Continent Tours’ guide has the ultimate recourse of removing a traveler from a tour at any time, if
that person’s continued presence is deemed harmful to him/herself or others, or if it adversely
affects the quality of the tour and/or the enjoyment of the group. A pro-rata refund will be made
for missed activities, contingent upon refunds provided by suppliers.
Travelers must procure their own passport, entry visa(s), and health documents.
Travelers agree to comply with local laws and regulations and to respect cultural practices
observed during the tour. Travelers understand that living conditions and practices in West Africa
and Central Africa may not be the same as in their home countries.
Travelers are expected to be on time for all tour activities; there are no refunds for missed activities.
If travelers miss any flights or other scheduled departures, the responsibility and the cost of
rejoining the tour will be theirs.
Travelers with special needs or disabilities must inform Continent Tours at the time of booking;
failure to disclose in advance any physical or other restrictions, or the need for special
accommodations, will make it impossible to meet those needs. When informed, Continent Tours
will make every effort to accommodate travelers and will inform travelers of local conditions they
will likely encounter.
For their own safety as well as for the smooth operation of their tour, travelers are expected to
follow their Tour Leader/Guide’s requests and instructions; any problems encountered during the
tour should be brought to the guide’s attention immediately, so that the guide may remedy the
situation. If the guide is unable to do so, or you are not satisfied with the remedy, please contact
the Continent Tours office and report the problem.
Tips and gratuities, while not mandatory, are accepted as recognition of quality service by guides,
drivers, restaurant personnel, and others. These tips and gratuities are not covered by tour fees and
are entirely at your discretion. Tips for luggage porters are the responsibility of Continent Tours’
guide.
Security and Safety
Travelers’ safety and security are Continent Tours’ first priority. We do not conduct tours to
dangerous areas and we always work with local personnel, who are fully cognizant of local security
conditions. In order to avoid driver fatigue and accidents, we avoid driving at night.
Travelers are expected to exercise caution with their person and belongings in public areas.
Travelers are also expected to keep their valuables at hand at all times, and to keep their luggage
locked. Continent Tours is not responsible for articles forgotten in hotel rooms, restaurants, etc.
General Disclaimer
The participant recognizes that Continent Tours is not responsible for circumstances beyond its
control, including, without limitations, acts of God, explosion, tempest, fire, accident, and war,
threats of war, sabotage, sickness, insurrection, government intervention, weather conditions,
quarantine, civil disturbances, or armed conflict. Continent Tours will use its best efforts to
reschedule or alter tours affected by any of the foregoing but is not under any obligation to refund
any portion of the cost of the tour or to reimburse the participant in any way, even if forced to
cancel the trip as a result, Continent Tours will where possible, make refunds, after deducting a
reasonable amount to cover actual and potential costs. In the event that Continent Tours
investigates the prevailing situation, and decides, as its sole discretion, that the tour can go forward,
but the participant elects to cancel, then no refund will be payable and the provisions regarding
payment and cancellation will apply. These provisions also apply to delays and cancellations
involving carriage by land, sea and air, including those involving travel to and from the destination.
The participant understands that such delays are beyond Continent Tours control and that the
participant must look to the terms and conditions by the carrier and international conventions for
any remedy or relief.

• Cancellation made 45 days or more prior to the start of the tour will be charged a cancellation fee of 15% of tour cost with a minimum payment of $300 per traveler
• Cancellations made 44 to 30 days to the start of the tour will be charged as cancellation fee of 20% of tour cost with a minimum payment of $375 per traveler
• Cancellations made 29 to 17 days prior to tour start date will be charged cancellation fee of 25% of tour cost with a minimum payment of $675 per traveler.
• Cancellations made 16 days or less prior to tour start date will be charged cancellation fee of 100% of tour cost, No refund.
Trip cancellation insurance is recommended.
• Domestic Flight tickets are non-refundable when alternate (land) arrangements are made.
• No-Shows, late arrivals, voluntary changes or cancellations by travelers of tour days or services during a tour are non-refundable. Cancellation insurance is recommended.
• Prior to the start of the tour, Continent Tours reserve the right to cancel a tour, and will provide a full refund of all payments. Continent Tours has never cancelled a tour but would do so as its sole discretion should traveler’s safety is of concern. Continent Tours is not responsible for expenses incurred by travelers in preparing for a trip which is eventually canceled.
• Once travelers are at the destination in Africa, Continent Tours will provide comparable alternate tour arrangements, if the cancellation of a particular tour is deemed necessary. Should travelers elect not to accept these alternate arrangements, this will constitute voluntary refusal of services, and no refunds will be given. Pro-rata refunds will be made if alternate arrangements are not comparable to the original tour services. Please note: Domestic Flights may be replaced by ground transportation, if the domestic flight schedule renders flights impossible within the constraints of a tour and/or the tour dates; in this case, the missed flights are non-refundable as the ticket price will be used to make alternate land arrangements.

TOUR PRICES:
Continent Tours prices are stated in U.S Dollars (USD) and are subject to change until a tour deposit is received.
Prices do not include international travel to/from Africa, passport fees, entry visa fees, excess baggage charges, immunizations or other medical fees, non –specified meals, alcoholic or other beverages, insurance, tips for tour staff, laundry and other personal expenses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
It is Continent Tours’ responsibility to provide the services with each tour itinerary. Continent Tours includes this information with every price quote.
All lodging is double occupancy, bed & breakfast; including private baths. Comparable hotel substitutes will be provided if planned accommodations are not available. For single occupancy, a single supplement will be applied. Day rooms are not included unless specified or requested for. Hotel check-in and check-out are 2:00pm (1400 hours) and 12noon (1200 hours) respectively.
Continent Tours reserves the right to make itinerary modifications or to change hotels or other tour components, if these are deemed necessary or advisable for the continuation of the tour, for safety and security reasons, or to prevent delays that would be detrimental to the tour or its members. Continent Tours is not responsible for delays or consequences of any delays due to circumstances beyond Continent Tours’ control.
Continent Tours will make every effort to provide alternate and comparable services if changes are made.
All luggage should have sturdy identification tags and should always be locked. Continent Tours personnel will assist travelers with lost luggage formalities at the airport. Continent Tours will also make every effort to forward lost luggage to its owner during the tour; any costs incurred in forwarding luggage are responsibility of the traveler. Please note: baggage limits on domestic flights vary but are usually limited to one item of 10kg (22 pounds) and one carry-on bag.
Additional services required as a result of international flight schedule changes, illness or emergencies re the responsibility of the traveler. Continent Tours personnel will do endeavor to assist travelers who may need to make new flight arrangements. This is done as a courtesy and implies no responsibility on the part of Continent Tours to find or make new arrangements. The cost or penalties for any such arrangements are the sole responsibility of the traveler.
Continent Tours guide has the ultimate recourse of removing a traveler from a tour at any time, if that person’s continued presence is deemed harmful to him/herself or others, or if it adversely affects the quality of the tour and/or the enjoyment of the group. A pro-rata refund will be made for missed activities, contingent upon refunds provided by suppliers.
Travelers must procure their own passport, entry visa(s) and health documents.
Travelers agree to comply with local laws and regulations and to respect cultural practices observed during the tour. Travelers understand that living conditions and practices in West Africa and Central Africa may not be the same as in their home countries.
Travelers are expected to be on time for all tour activities; there are no refunds for missed activities. If travelers miss any flights or other schedule departures, the responsibility and the cost of rejoining the tour will be theirs.
Travelers with special needs or disabilities must inform Continent Tours at the time of booking; failure to disclose in advance any physical or other restrictions, or the need for special accommodations, will make it impossible to meet those needs. When informed, Continent Tours will make every effort to accommodate travelers and will inform travelers of local conditions they will likely encounter.
For their own safety as well as for the smooth operation of their tour, travelers are expected to follow their Tour Leader/Guide’s requests and instructions; any problems encountered during the tour should be brought to the guide’s attention immediately, so that the guide may remedy the situation. If the guide is unable to do so, or you are not satisfied with the remedy, contact Continent Tours office and report the problem.
Tips and gratuities, while not mandatory are accepted as recognition of quality service by guides, drivers, restaurants personnel and others. These tips and gratuities are not covered by tour fees and are entirely at your discretion. Tips for luggage porters are the responsibility of Continent Tours’ guide.
SECURITY AND SAFETY
Travelers’ safety and security is Continent Tours’ first priority. We don’t conduct tours to dangerous areas and we always work with local personnel, who are fully cognizant of local security conditions. In order to avoid driver fatigue and accidents, we avoid driving at night.
Travelers are expected to exercise caution with their person and belongings in public areas. Travelers are expected to keep their valuables at hand at all times and to keep their luggage locked. Continent Tours is not responsible for articles forgotten in hotel rooms, restaurants, etc.
GENERAL DISCLAIMER:
The participant recognizes that Continent Tours is not responsible for circumstances beyond its control, including, without limitations, acts of God, explosion, tempest, fire, accident, war, threats, sabotage, sickness, insurrection, government intervention, weather conditions, quarantine, civil disturbances, or armed conflict. Continent Tours will use its best efforts to reschedule or alter tours affected by any of the foregoing, but is not under any obligation to refund any portion of the cost of the tour or to reimburse the participant in any way, even if forced to cancel the trip as a result. Continent Tours will, where possible, make refunds after deducting a reasonable amount to cover actual and potential costs. In the event that Continent Tours investigates the prevailing situation, and decided as its sole discretion that the tour can go forward, but the participant elects to cancel, then no refund will be payable and the provisions regarding payment and cancellation will apply. These provisions also apply to delays and cancellations involving carriage by land, sea and air, including those involving travel to and from the destination. The participant understands that such delays are beyond Continent Tours’ control and that the participant must look to the terms and conditions by the carrier and international conventions for any remedy or relief.
