Road trip

Програма туру

Day 1

Dublin

Individual arrival in Dublin. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Depending on the time available, a visit to the Guinness Storehouse (admission included), one of the main attractions on the Emerald Isle, and a Dublin hop-on hop-off city tour (optional, bookable) should not be missed. The trip in a double-decker bus takes you past the most important sights of the lively capital and provides you with entertaining commentary. You can hop on and off at any time at one of the stops. You can then continue your journey on another bus and repeat this as often as you like. A visit to the EPIC Museum (optional, bookable) is also worthwhile. Here you can embark on an epic and adventurous journey through the emigration history of the Irish people. One night in the Dublin area.
You start the day with a drive to County Kildare and a visit to the Irish National Stud Farm (optional), which is famous for breeding many award-winning racehorses, and the Japanese Garden (optional), which symbolically represents the human way of life. Then continue to the limestone Rock of Cashel (optional), which is also known as the "Irish Acropolis" and was the seat of the kings of Munster in the 4th century. On the way to Cork you can visit Blarney Castle (optional) with its famous Blarney Stone. Legend has it that if you kiss the legendary stone, you will be granted eternal eloquence. Alternatively, on this day you can first drive to the medieval town of Kilkenny and visit Kilkenny Castle (optional) and the Smithwick's Experience, where you will learn all about the history and production of the popular Smithwick's beer (optional). Then continue to Cork. If your accommodation is in South or West Cork, plan to visit the city of Cork today. Take a walk through Ireland's second largest city and get to know Cork's most important sights. One night in the Cork area. Approx. 240-320 km/approx. 3-4 hours (breakfast).
If your accommodation is in east Cork, you can explore Cork on one of the four "Cork Walks", which take you past the most important sights and visit the English Market, which is a must for all foodies. Via the gourmet capital of Ireland, Kinsale, which attracts visitors with its numerous restaurants, bars and delicatessens, you will then travel to your next overnight stay in Killarney. Alternatively, after a city tour of Cork, you have the opportunity today to visit the beautifully situated Bantry House (optional) and take a boat trip from Glengarriff to the impressive Garinish Island (approx. 0.5 hours, optional, seasonal). There you will find one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland, surrounded by enchanting nature. Then continue to Killarney. 2 nights in the Killarney area. Approx. 120-170 km/approx. 2.5-3 hours or approx. 210-280 km/approx. 4-4.5 hours (breakfast).
You drive along the famous Ring of Kerry coastal road, which is one of the most beautiful in Europe. The stunning landscape is dotted with lush flora and is characterized by rugged cliffs and densely overgrown mountain ranges. Our tip: Take a detour to Valentia Island at Cahersiveen and then drive along the Skellig Ring to the Skellig Cliffs, a smaller cliff formation with a view of Skellig Michael, before continuing your journey along the coast of the Ring of Kerry. On the way back to Killarney, we recommend an excursion to the nearby Killarney National Park, combined with a visit to the famous Muckross House & Gardens (optional), one of Ireland's leading stately homes. Alternatively, if you want to take it easy for the day, you can first drive into Killarney National Park and take a short hike from Muckross House & Gardens to Torc Waterfall (approx. 3 km, approx. 0.5 hours). Afterwards you can visit Kissane Sheep Farm (optional, seasonal), a typical Irish sheep farm, watch the animals being sheared and see how the farmer keeps his flock of sheep under control during a herding dog demonstration. Approx. 200 km/approx. 4 hours or approx. 50 km/approx. 3.5 hours (breakfast).
On this day, take a tour of the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, with its fascinating cliffs, quaint villages, beautiful sandy beaches, such as the famous Inch Beach, and numerous sights from early Christian times, such as the Gallarus Oratory and Kilmalkedar Church. You then continue to Limerick via the Connor Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain passes on the Emerald Isle. Depending on time, you can visit the Foynes Flying Boat Museum (optional) in Ballynacragga North, the world's only museum dedicated to flying boats. Alternatively, after your tour of the fabulous Dingle Peninsula and the drive over the Connor Pass, you can make your way to your next overnight stay in Limerick via Adare. The village is one of the most beautiful in Ireland and will enchant you with its colorful thatched cottages. One night in the Limerick/Clare area. Approx. 220 km/approx. 4 hours or approx. 215 km/approx. 3.5 hours (breakfast).
First, drive to the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, which rise up to 200 m out of the sea and stretch for 8 km from Hag's Head to O'Brien's Tower. Enjoy the magnificent view of the roaring Atlantic from there or visit the visitor center (optional). Continue east and visit the legendary Clonmacnoise Abbey ruins (optional), picturesquely situated on the banks of the River Shannon. It is one of the most important early medieval monasteries in Ireland. Then return to Dublin. Alternatively, you can drive back to Dublin via Tullamore after your visit to the Cliffs of Moher. In Tullamore, you can visit the famous Tullamore Dew Whiskey Distillery (optional) and learn all about the history and production process of the famous whiskey and taste the whiskey yourself at the end. 2 nights in the Dublin area. Approx. 350 km/approx. 5 hours or approx. 365 km/approx. 5 hours (breakfast).
On this day, the Boyne Valley is steeped in history and a visit to the "Brú na Boinne" information center and the Neolithic burial mounds Knowth or Newgrange (optional, limited availability for visiting the burial mounds) are on the agenda. They are the largest and most important passage tombs in Ireland and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At around 5,000 years old, they are older than the pyramids in Egypt and represent the secrets of a fascinating and lost culture. A special feature of Newgrange, apart from the façade of megaliths decorated with mysterious patterns, is the small stone box above the entrance. It was designed so that light shines into the chamber for around 17 minutes during the winter solstice. This special event is re-enacted as part of the tour. The ruins of Mellifont Abbey (optional), once an important Cistercian monastery, are also worth a visit. Then continue to the historic ruins of Monasterboice from the 5th century with its famous high crosses (optional). Approx. 105 km/approx. 1.5 hours (breakfast).
Individual departure. (Breakfast).
