Програма туру

Day 1

Livingstone

This tour starts with a visit to the mighty Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world by volume. At various times of year the spray from the Falls can be seen from up to 20 or 30 kilometres away, hence the local name Mosi oa Tunya the smoke that thunders. The rest of the day is yours at leisure to sample some of the many optional activities on offer including rafting, canoeing, bungee, abseiling, gorge swinging, horse riding, scenic flights, river cruises. Note We highly recommend booking a few days pre tour in order for you to explore the Victoria Falls area to the fullest and to partake in all the activities on your bucket list.
Leaving Livingstone, we travel a short distance to the Botswana border and on to the town of Kasane - the gateway to Chobe National Park. Chobe is the third largest park in the country and is home to some of the largest elephant herds in Africa as well as lion, buffalo, hippo and abundant birdlife. We take a boat cruise on the Chobe River a great opportunity to view the prolific wildlife coming in to drink and if you are lucky, spot elephants swimming across to the Sedudu Island.
This morning we further explore the Chobe National Park in an open vehicle game drive where we have the opportunity to view the many elephants, buffalo and roaming antelope of the area. Moving on from Chobe we continue south to Elephant Sands. This magnificent place has no fences so wildlife can roam freely. Many groups report seeing elephant and antelope at close proximity from the accommodation - at the central waterhole.
Departing Elephant Sands, we travel via the southern outskirts of the Makgadikgadi Pans and the impressive baobab trees that dot the side of the road, to the rapidly developing town of Maun. We stop off in the town allowing time to explore the interesting architecture of traditional rondavel homesteads and stock up on supplies. We arrive at our accommodation on the early afternoon allowing plenty of time to pack for the Delta excursion the following day and relax by the pool.
The Okavango is a natural wetland spreading over some 1.6million hectares and offers a perfect habitat for the many species of wildlife that roam here freely. We pack up our gear and travel out of Maun in a 4x4 truck to the poler station, where we meet our local Tswana Polers who will be our guides for our overnight expedition. We travel by mokoro dugout canoe among the giant lily pads, tall swaying grasses and labyrinthine channels and lagoons. We view resident wildlife along the way to our tented camp. We enjoy the afternoon wilderness experience and overnight listening to the sounds of the African night for an unforgettable adventure!
After our night in the wilderness we take a casual Mokoro ride back to the polers stations where our 4x4 vehicle collects us again for our trip back to Maun. Saying our farewells to our local guides, we board our vehicle and traverse the sandy roads back to Maun. We aim to get back to Maun around lunch time to allow time for an optional scenic flight over this spectacular UNESCO world heritage site. Alternatively, the afternoon can be spent at leisure at the pool and bar area.
Leaving Botswana behind, we cross into Namibia and travel to our camp which is situated a short drive from the border. In the midst of this seemingly barren terrain, we meet the San/Bushman and have a guided bush walk for a cultural experience and insight into these ancient peoples way of life.
Were off to Windhoek! This city is a small capital city compared to many others around the world with an approximate population of 200,000 people living here. Take the opportunity to explore the town and enjoy a night out at one of the local restaurants or visit the famous Joes Beer House.
Heading north, we make our way to Etosha National Park. At over 20,000 sq km, this magnificent park hosts over 114 mammals and 340 bird species. Entering the gate, binoculars and camera at hand, we game drive to our accommodation for this evening stopping along the way at the local waterholes where animals congregate to drink. After a refreshing break and a nice dinner, visit the camps floodlit watering hole. Observers frequently see a range of night visitors including rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, even lion, making it one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in Namibia.
Waking early, we spend a full day game driving in this diverse animal kingdom - taking in the parks main characteristic, the salt pan that fills with water in the wet months and hosts prolific birdlife including flamingos. Keeping our eyes peeled, we traverse the limestone roads and visit the various water points in search of the many animals wandering the terrain. Seek out elephants, rhino and numerous antelope species including the majestic looking Oryx - Namibias national animal. As the sun starts to set, we return to our accommodation and spend our last evening at the floodlit watering hole, observing natural animal behaviour at its best.
This morning, we game drive out of Etosha National Park and make south to the picturesque Damaraland region and the granite boulders at Spitzkoppe. Home to ancient bushman paintings and giant boulder-like rock formations reaching a peak at some 1800m above sea level, we explore the area on foot and soak up the true beauty of this magical place. Tonight youll sleep a night under canvas to experience Spitzkoppe to the fullest.
Waking to the amber morning light reflecting off the rock formations, it is certainly worth getting up early to find a quiet spot to enjoy the sunrise. Departing the dramatic Spitzkoppe, we make our way across the barren desert to the Atlantic coast and Swakopmund. With a free afternoon to explore, there are shops, restaurants, museums, the aquarium, art galleries to entertain or simply walk along the promenade admiring the ocean and the quaint German-style architecture.
Today is a free day to enjoy Swakopmund either by visiting the towns sights or enjoying the optional activities on offer.Quad bike over the towering dunes or glide down the steep slopes on a sand board. Alternatively seek out the most daring of activities on a tandem-skydive to enjoy the best views over the desert. For those wishing to relax, spend some time on the beach or enjoy the local stube coffee shops.
Leaving the coast behind, we traverse the rugged mountainous passes with their varying rock types shifting in layers from years gone bay. We cross the Tropic of Capricorn, pausing for a photo opportunity at the southernmost circle of direct sunlight. Journeying further south we make our way to our camp for the night. Here we enjoy a night in the stillness of the desert where the stars light up the skies.
Today we drive to the Namib Naukluft National Park and trek to the top of Dune 45 for spectacular views over the rolling desert. After a well-earned breakfast, we join a shuttle ride to Dead Vlei which lies amidst the giant sand dunes a real glimpse of Namibias unspoilt natural environment. Bring your camera the shifting colours of the desert as the sun climbs throughout the mid/late morning offering some brilliant photographic opportunities. We finish our visit with a trip to the Sesriem Canyon to see the interesting underground layering of the desert before we head to our accommodation for the night.
Rising early, we travel though barren and rocky landscapes dotted with camel thorn and quiver trees to the mighty Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world. At 550m deep and over 160km long, we spend time exploring the majestic area and visit the canyons infamous sharp river bend known as Hells Corner.
Today we journey south to the Gariep Orange River. Our accommodation lies on the banks of the river on the Namibian side. On arrival, we have the opportunity to partake in an optional canoe safari on the river to see the striking Richtersveld scenery, swim or simply relax on the waters edge admiring the view.
Leaving the Gariep Orange River, we cross the border into South Africa and continue south through the spectacular scenery of the Namaqualand, well known for its prolific display of wildflowers that occur in spring best seen between August September. Our accommodation for the night overlooks the Olifants River in the Cederberg region. Here, try the local wines of the area on an optional wine tasting.
We leave the picturesque Cederberg area and travel south through the Citrus region at Citrusdal, over the Piekenierskloof Pass to Cape Town, where our tour ends.
