Kathmandu
After breakfast, you'll embark on a tour of some of Kathmandu's most historic and spiritual landmarks. These include several UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the renowned Swayambhunath Stupa (also known as the 'Monkey Temple'), and Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. At noon, there will be a pre-trip meeting where you can meet our trek leader and other team members, allowing you to ask any questions you may have about the trek. You'll spend the night in Kathmandu.
(Included Meals: Breakfast)
Drive to Dhap, Trek to Japre
Begin your day with an 8-9 hour drive from Kathmandu to Dhap. From a ridgeline south of Dhap, you'll commence the trek, and as you approach Sigane, the peaks of the Numbur Himal section of the Himalayan Range come into view. The trail from Sigane initially follows a road under construction for the first couple of hours. The first village you reach is Japre (2,920 m/9,580 ft), perched above a deep valley with stunning views of Everest and Numbur Himal. Japre features a charming little gompa and stupa, making it your stop for the night.

Trek to Pikey Base Camp
After Japre, the trail ascends to a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule. Here, you’ll find a single unnamed lodge offering nice views of the Everest range. Shortly after Bhulbhule, the trail splits, and you’ll turn right towards Pikey Peak. Along the way, you’ll pass some old yak houses and a long mani stone wall. The trail then contours the hillside below Taklung Danda, leading you through a beautiful forested path adorned with rhododendrons, which bloom spectacularly in the spring. Exiting the forest, it’s not far to Pikey Peak base camp, approximately 2 hours away. From the base camp, it’s a short climb to the summit at 4,065 meters (13,336 feet). Unless you encounter an unusually clear evening, it’s recommended to ascend to the summit in the morning for a breathtaking sunrise.
Meals - Breakfast, Lunch and dinner
Sunrise at Pikey Peak, Trek to Loding
Start the morning early and follow a gradual trail to the summit, adorned with prayer flags. The views are breathtaking! If the weather is clear, you'll be rewarded with panoramic vistas stretching from Annapurna to Kanchenjunga.
From the top of Pikey Peak, you'll follow a ridgeline that starts flat and then steepens as you enter the forest towards Jase Bhanjyang, where a delightful breakfast will be waiting. After breakfast, continue your descent to Loding, passing through some steep sections in the forest. At Loding, you'll find a couple of accommodation options, both simple and charming.Meals - Breakfast, Lunch and dinner
Trek from Loding to Junbesi, Visit Thubtenchoeling Monastery
Start the day by heading down the ridgeline for breakfast at Jase Bhanjyang. From there, you have a few options for the descent to Junbesi, with the most likely being a stunning shortcut trail that leaves the ridge shortly after Jase and descends steeply through spectacular old-growth forest to Taktor. This path meets the Everest Base Camp trail coming from Jiri. From Taktor, it is a couple of hours on a lovely trail to Junbesi.
Junbesi is a traditional Sherpa village at an altitude of 2,675 meters (8,776 feet) and is considered the cradle of Sherpa culture and architecture. The Sherpas regard the Solukhumbu as a sacred valley. In this remote part of Nepal that borders Tibet, Buddhism flourishes, and you will encounter numerous Buddhist monasteries along the way.
Meals - Breakfast, Lunch and dinner
Trek from Junbesi to Taksindu
Today, we will embark on a journey towards Taksindu. The trail begins with a descent to the river at the bottom of town, followed by a climb through the forest to Salung. Here, you will be treated to breathtaking views of Mount Everest (8,848 m/29,028 ft), Chamlang (7,319 m/23,996 ft), and Makalu (8,481 m/27,824 ft), weather permitting. You'll also enjoy stunning vistas across the valley to Chiwong Monastery and down towards Phaplu.
Continuing on the trail, we will contour the landscape before descending to a stream and then ascending briefly into Ringmo. This village is renowned for its apple orchards and a variety of apple products, including apple rakshi (alcohol), cider, and apple pie. From Ringmo, there's a final short climb to Taksindu La, offering more spectacular mountain views, followed by a short descent to the Taksindu Monastery and your lodge.
The Taksindu Monastery, built in 1946, is typically open early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Please remember to leave a donation if you visit.

Trek from Taksindu to Phaplu, Visit Chiwong Gompa
Today, leave the main trekking route and take a scenic path through the forest, descending to Phaplu. For an additional adventure, hike up to Chiwong Gompa, a monastery founded in 1923, perched high on a cliff with stunning valley views. The monastery is renowned for its magnificent Mani Rimdu festival celebrations in autumn. After exploring, continue your descent into Phaplu and celebrate the completion of your trek at a cozy tea house.

Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Medical Conditions and Special Requirements
If you have any medical conditions or special requirements, please inform Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Ltd. at the time of booking. Flight Delays and Changes in Itinerary
Please be aware that mountain adventures are subject to unpredictable weather conditions. Bad weather in mountainous regions can lead to delays or cancellations of domestic flights. In such cases, Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Ltd. will arrange accommodation (guesthouse) and provide meals (lunch and breakfast) if requested by the client. However, clients are responsible for covering any additional expenses, including those for extra food and accommodation. If you opt for alternative arrangements, such as a helicopter flight to bypass delays, you will be responsible for all associated costs.
Alpine Club of Himalaya Pvt. Ltd. is not liable for missed international flights. We will make every effort to assist with alternative arrangements where possible. Additionally, please note that changes to the itinerary may be necessary due to adverse weather conditions or other factors beyond our control during outdoor activities.
