Hiking Zagoria - Meteora - Mt. Olympus | Greece | 8 Days | Self-Drive

The adventure starts, after settling to the hotel in Zagorohoria visit “Kolympythres” the natural 

pools of Papigo, the famous “Papigo Baths”. It’s a unique organic formation from erosion of 

limestone rock, that had naturally formed on the rock small and large pools filled with the crystalclear water of the pure tank of Tymfi mountain. In a few minutes on foot reach the first natural 

baths where you can swim. After, return to Papigo village, have a cup of coffee with the 

breathtaking view of Tymfi. Further depart to your village and have time to relax for the rest of 

the day, overnight in Zagoria.

This beautiful rafting route is ideal for beginners also. The descent takes place in the crystal-clear

waters of Voidomatis river, in the heart of Vikos – Aoos National Park. The highlights of the trip are 

the crystal-clear turquoise waters, the deep vegetation, the 16th century monastery ruins, and 

the waterfalls under Klidonia’s stone bridge. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Drive to Monodendri where is the starting point for crossing the Vikos. The Vikos gorge is the 

world record holder as the deepest canyon, its total depth from bottom to top is 1100m! In the 

end of the gorge are formed the springs of river Voidomatis, which is the cleanest river of Greece 

and charms the visitors from all over the world, by its crystal-clear blue-green waters. 

The natural splendour is waiting for us, gigantic rocks will frame the view and the rare flowers will 

sprang through the rocks to accent the feast of flora that surrounds us. The path in its end 

becomes heavily uphill right till the Vikos village, where is the finish of the route. Shortly before 

leaving the gorge continue to the springs of Voidomatis, where you can have a stop for a swim 

at the crystal-clear waters. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Time to leave Zagorohoria for Meteora, the Monasteries that hanging on the top of gigantic 

rocks. One of the most striking monuments in the world, protected and characterized by 

UNESCO as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage. Hiking around grand Meteoro. Free time 

to relax and rest. Overnight in Kalambaka

In the morning depart to Mt.Olympus, the highest mountain of Greece, home of the 12 Gods of 

Mythology. visit 'Saint Dionysios monastery’ that was burned in the period of the 2nd World War. 

The route is mainly downward and passing all along the Enipea stream between the pine and fir 

forests. On our way we will see the impetuous waterfalls, wooden bridges, which we will pass to 

cross the river. After approximately 1,5 hours of descent will reach “Agiasma” – one huge cave, 

with glowing water running from its depths. Next stop is location ‘Kastana’ an open source of 

fresh water to fill the water tanks. Further and in about 3 hours you will reach Litochoro village, 

the final spot. Reaching the end, have a meal in a traditional tavern and relax for the rest part of 

the day. Overnight in Litochoro.

A day for hiking and swimming at Orlias canyon, located at the eastern part of Olympus. Orlias is 

a beautiful, forested canyon with about twenty-five smaller and larger waterfalls and countless 

natural pools of which the best accessible are the Orlias Waterfall and the Orpheus Waterfall. 

Hiking across the river and swimming in a natural lake, shaped by a 15m waterfall, composing a 

paradise landscape!! Before your return to Litochoro make a stop to Dion and visit the site and 

the museum. Overnight in Litochoro.
