From the spa town to the lake
You're sure to feel like you're on vacation as soon as you read the destination of this trip. Merano not only offers many sights, but also an interesting history and numerous cultural sites. Lake Garda impresses with its dreamlike landscape and extensive range of leisure activities. Both are based on the Mediterranean flair, which is particularly tangible when looking at the beautiful panoramas, enjoying an Aperol Sprizz in the bar or "people-watching" on the piazza. In between, varied cycling stages await you for a relaxing break from everyday life.
Details of your cycle tour from Merano to Lake Garda
Stroll along the spa promenade in Merano, just like Empress Sissi once did, or treat yourself to a relaxing massage in the thermal baths. Your first stage takes you around 45 kilometers to Bolzano, passing countless vineyards and orchards along the way. At Sigmundskron Castle, you can visit the Messner Mountain Museum.
Day 3 is the longest stage, taking you to the beautiful old town of Trento. The German-speaking part of South Tyrol is now behind you and the overall Mediterranean flair is unmistakable. Make a stop on the final tour in Rovereto and explore the historic town center before the last few kilometers take you towards Lake Garda. At the Passo San Giovanni, you have to climb a small incline and then you are already cycling to your destination with a view of the lake.
The highlights between Merano and Lake Garda
Stop off at Piazza Walther in Bolzano: a statue of the eponymous Walther von der Vogelweide sits enthroned in the middle of the beautifully landscaped piazza. Waltherplatz is a popular meeting place with bars, cafés and restaurants.
Historic Trento: The northern Italian city can look back on over 2,000 years of history. The alleyways of the old town are bursting with art and culture. A photo in front of the Neptune Fountain is an absolute must, and we can also recommend climbing up to the Castello del Buonconsiglio.
Pistachio ice cream on Lake Garda: After the many kilometers you have covered, let us treat you to a scoop of pistachio ice cream. The Gelateria Bologna in Mori is not only known for its first-class ice cream, but also for its pretty Art Nouveau villa. Now there are only a few kilometers separating you from your destination and the glistening waters of Lake Garda.
Interesting facts about a cycling vacation through South Tyrol
You will cover a total of around 160 kilometers on this tour. During a cycle tour, you get to know your vacation region in a very special way - you discover hidden places, pass through the landscape at a manageable pace and get to know the way of life of the people. Enjoyable cycling with Eurobike means that you have enough time for all of this in addition to the stages. Your luggage will be waiting for you at your next overnight stop.
