Entering first the Quebrada de los Laureles and then the Quebrada de Escoipe, the route reaches El Maray, from where the ascent along the winding Cuesta del Obispo begins. This road, full of curves, offers panoramic views of the Enchanted Valley and small homes surrounded by cornfields and fruit orchards.

The highest point, at 3,384 meters above sea level, is reached at Piedra del Molino. The journey then crosses Los Cardones National Park along the Recta de Tin-Tin, an ancient Inca road.

Upon approaching Cachi, travelers enjoy sweeping views of the Nevado de Cachi and Payogasta. In the town itself, the visit includes the Archaeological Museum and the Church.

The return to Salta follows the same route.

Cafayate

The journey begins through the Lerma Valley, passing tobacco fields and colonial-style towns such as Alemania, which once served as the final stop of the Belgrano railway.

The route then enters the Quebrada del Río Las Conchas, where striking rock formations shaped by wind and water take center stage: the Dunes, the Toad, the Bishop, the Devil’s Throat, the Castles, the Amphitheater, among others.

Continuing along National Route 68, the trip reaches Cafayate, the youngest city in the Calchaquí Valleys, internationally recognized for its wine production, especially the Torrontés variety, which can be sampled during visits to both artisanal and industrial wineries.

The return to Salta follows the same route, but with the sunlight at a different angle, casting a completely transformed illumination over the Quebrada’s landscapes.
