Your adventure begins at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the last and grandest capital city of the Khmer Empire. In the 12th century, Angkor Thom was the largest city in the world, with a population of around one million people.
Next, visit the Bayon Temple, renowned for its captivating towers adorned with serene smiling faces. Continue to explore Baphuon, a grand temple mountain, and then visit Phimeanakas, located within the Royal Palace enclosure.
You’ll also marvel at the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, both rich in intricate carvings and royal history.
The journey continues to the hidden gem of Ta Nei, a peaceful jungle temple rarely visited by crowds, followed by Ta Prohm, famously known as the "Tomb Raider Temple." Overgrown with massive tree roots, this temple evokes the feeling of Henri Mouhot’s rediscovery of Angkor in 1860, as it was hidden in the jungle for centuries.
After a morning of exploration, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste authentic Cambodian (Khmer) cuisine.
In the afternoon, visit the majestic Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world and a true wonder. Its towering spires are proudly featured on Cambodia’s national flag. Explore the temple’s intricate sandstone carvings and learn about its symbolic and historical significance.
End your tour with a visit to Phnom Bakheng Temple, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Angkor complex (especially breathtaking at sunset, if timing permits).
