Once we arrive, we'll serve lunch at the safari resort before heading out on our first safari! We'll embark on an elephant-back safari as the elephant blends in making animals more likely to approach. If you do not wish to ride on an elephant, we do have a jeep safari option available instead. Once your booking has been confirmed, please let the operator know if you would prefer a jeep safari at Chitwan instead. After the safari, we'll head back to our resort where we will serve dinner and spend the night.
Safaris in Chitwan National Park
It's safari time! Today is jam-packed full of jungle activities to get the most out of your time here at Chitwan.
You'll first embark on a jungle walking tour through the forests to set your sights on the elephants and rhinos here in Chitwan. Since it doesn't disturb the animals, on a walking safari you usually have a better chance of some up-close animal encounters. You will be accompanied by a naturalist guide that will brief you on the plants and animals you can expect to see.
After your walking safari, we'll head out on a traditional dugout canoe. Floating down the river with its banks lined with crocodiles is a relaxing yet intriguing experience! You may also see elephants taking a bathe in the river and many other aquatic wildlife species. Afterwards, we'll return to our accommodations for lunch.
Once your safari adventures are done for day you have free time to explore Chitwan. You may like to stroll around this quiet jungle village, get the know the locals over a beer at the local bar, or watch a traditional cultural show. When the day comes to a close, we'll serve dinner back at your accommodation before resting for a big journey back to Kathmandu tomorrow.
Chitwan National Park - Kathmandu - Nagarkot
After breakfast, we'll drive back to Kathmandu retracing the same mountainous highway to Nagarkot.
Situated 2175m above sea level, Nagarkot is one of Nepal's most popular tourist destinations, and for good reason - the views of the Himalayas and sunrise views are sensational here!
Five of the tallest mountains in the world are located here:
Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Makalu (8463m) and Manaslu (8163m).
You can also opt to visit a nearby mountain village as an optional excursion whilst we are here. Simply let your guide know on the day if this is something you wish to do.
Nagarkot - Depart Kathmandu
After your breakfast and viewing that sensational sunrise we talked about, we will say goodbye and take you back to Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home. Thank you for choosing Himalayan Sanctuary Adventures!
