День 1

Arrival to León

León is a captivating city and a historic milestone on the French Way of the Camino de Santiago.

Famed for its stunning Gothic cathedral, atmospheric old quarter, and lively plazas, it offers a perfect blend of medieval heritage and vibrant city life. Upon arrival, pilgrims can wander its narrow streets, discover its rich architectural legacy, and enjoy the warmth of local hospitality. Beginning your journey here means starting in a place where history, culture, and the Camino’s enduring spirit converge, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.

День 2

Stage 1 · From León to Villadangos del Páramo

Leaving León, the Camino Francés leads you through the city’s outskirts before opening into the vast plains of Castile and León.

The route follows quiet country paths and small villages, offering a gentle first walking day with plenty of time to enjoy the changing scenery. As you approach Villadangos del Páramo, the horizon stretches wide, and the pace of rural life sets the tone for the days ahead. This stage blends urban departure with the calm of the Meseta, easing pilgrims into the rhythm of the Camino.

День 3

Stage 2 · From Villadangos del Páramo a Astorga

From Villadangos del Páramo, the Camino continues across the wide, open landscapes of the Meseta, dotted with small farming villages and quiet roads.

The path is easy to follow, with expansive skies and the distant mountains hinting at the terrain ahead. Approaching Astorga, the scenery becomes more varied, and the town’s historic silhouette emerges on the horizon. Famous for its Episcopal Palace by Gaudí and its rich Roman heritage, Astorga offers a rewarding end to the day and a deeper connection to the cultural wealth of the French Way.

День 4

Stage 3 · From Astorga to Rabanal del Camino

Leaving Astorga, the Camino begins to gently climb, leaving behind the flat Meseta and entering the foothills of the León mountains. The route passes through small Maragato villages, where stone houses and quiet streets reflect centuries of tradition. Fields give way to rolling hills, and the air grows fresher as you approach Rabanal del Camino, a charming village with a long history of welcoming pilgrims. This stage marks a change in scenery and pace, preparing you for the mountain paths that lie ahead on the French Way.

День 5

Stage 4 · From Rabanal del Camino to Molinaseca

From Rabanal del Camino, the route ascends steadily into the Montes de León, offering breathtaking views and a sense of adventure.

Passing through the iconic village of Foncebadón, pilgrims soon reach the famous Cruz de Ferro, a symbolic high point of the Camino where travelers leave stones as tokens of reflection. The descent towards Molinaseca is steep and scenic, winding through mountain trails and forests before arriving in this charming riverside village. Known for its medieval bridge and warm hospitality, Molinaseca provides a memorable and well-earned end to this mountain stage.

День 6

Stage 5 · From Molinaseca to Villafranca del Bierzo

Leaving Molinaseca, the Camino follows gentle roads and paths through the fertile Bierzo valley, passing vineyards, orchards, and small villages.

The route offers a softer pace after the mountain descent, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy local flavors and scenery. As you approach Villafranca del Bierzo, the “Little Compostela” of the French Way, the town’s historic churches and welcoming squares invite exploration. Known for its medieval architecture and the Church of Santiago, where pilgrims once received blessings, Villafranca marks a peaceful and culturally rich end to the day.

День 7

Stage 6 · From Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

From Villafranca del Bierzo, the Camino heads deeper into the green valleys before beginning its steady climb into Galicia.

The route passes through quiet hamlets and along shaded paths, with the mountains drawing ever closer. The ascent to O Cebreiro is one of the most memorable of the French Way, both for its challenge and its rewards. At the top, the stone houses and thatched-roof pallozas of this historic village welcome pilgrims to a place steeped in legend and tradition. O Cebreiro’s views, culture, and atmosphere mark an inspiring entry into Galicia.

День 8

Stage 7 · From O Cebreiro to Triacastela

From O Cebreiro, the Camino follows rolling mountain ridges, offering sweeping views over the Galician countryside.

The route passes through quaint stone villages such as Liñares and Hospital da Condesa, each with its own charm and pilgrim history. Gradually, the path descends into lush valleys, where chestnut and oak trees shade the way. Arriving in Triacastela, a peaceful village named after its three ancient castles, pilgrims find a quiet and welcoming stop. This stage blends natural beauty with a gentle introduction to the rural heart of Galicia.

День 9

Stage 8 · From Triacastela to Sarria

From Triacastela, pilgrims can choose between two routes: the scenic path through Samos, home to its impressive Benedictine monastery, or the shorter route through San Xil, known for its peaceful rural landscapes.

Both options wind through quiet valleys, small farms, and charming hamlets that reflect the authentic pace of Galician countryside life. Arriving in Sarria, the most popular starting point for the final 100 km to Santiago, you’ll find a lively pilgrim atmosphere, a well-preserved old quarter, and all the services needed to prepare for the journey ahead.

День 10

Stage 9 · From Sarria to Portomarín

From Sarria, the Camino enters a lush Galician landscape of oak and chestnut forests, quiet lanes, and stone villages.

This stage is rich in charm, with ancient bridges, small chapels, and the ever-present company of fellow pilgrims starting their final 100 km. The path offers gentle terrain and countless opportunities to enjoy local hospitality along the way. Crossing the modern bridge into Portomarín, you’ll find a town rebuilt stone by stone after the old village was submerged by the Miño River, blending history, resilience, and a warm pilgrim welcome.

День 11

Stage 10 · From Portomarín to Palas de Rei

From Portomarín, the Camino climbs gently through farmland and wooded paths, offering wide views over the Galician countryside.

The route passes through peaceful hamlets such as Gonzar and Ligonde, each with a history of sheltering pilgrims for centuries. The terrain is varied but never too demanding, allowing time to enjoy the rural scenery and the rhythm of the walk. Reaching Palas de Rei, a small but lively town, you’ll be welcomed by its tradition of hospitality and its role as a key milestone on the road to Santiago.

День 12

Stage 11 · From Palas de Rei to Arzúa

From Palas de Rei, the Camino weaves through rolling farmland, dense forests, and a series of picturesque Galician villages.

This stage is rich in Romanesque heritage, with small churches and medieval bridges that speak of centuries of pilgrim passage. Crossing into the province of A Coruña, the path passes through Melide, famous for its traditional octopus dishes, before continuing towards Arzúa. Known for its artisan cheese and welcoming atmosphere, Arzúa offers a comfortable stop and a taste of local tradition as the journey nears its final goal.

День 13

Stage 12 · From Arzua to O Pedrouzo

From Arzúa, the Camino follows gentle woodland paths and quiet country roads, offering a peaceful and reflective walk.

The route passes through small farming hamlets, where stone houses and green fields create a quintessential Galician landscape. With moderate terrain and plenty of shaded stretches, this stage allows pilgrims to savour the anticipation of reaching Santiago. Arriving in O Pedrouzo, a well-equipped village, you’ll find a final place to rest, gather your thoughts, and prepare for the emotional arrival at the Cathedral on the following day.

День 14

Stage 13 · From O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela

From O Pedrouzo, the final stage of the Camino leads through quiet forests and rural paths before gradually entering the outskirts of Santiago.

The walk carries a mix of anticipation and reflection, as each step brings the cathedral’s spires closer. Passing Monte do Gozo, pilgrims catch their first glimpse of Santiago, a moment filled with emotion and accomplishment. The descent into the historic centre culminates at the Plaza del Obradoiro, where the Cathedral stands as a symbol of faith, perseverance, and the end of an unforgettable journey along the French Way.

День 15

Breakfast and End of Services

After breakfast, our services conclude in Santiago de Compostela.

Take time to enjoy the city’s vibrant streets, savour a final taste of Galician cuisine, or visit the Cathedral once more before your onward journey. The Camino may end here, but the memories and connections made will last a lifetime.
