6 Days Tanzania Great Rift valley luxury safari

On arrival at the airport you will be personally met and escorted by one of our professional guides to The Arusha Hotel.  You have the choice to either unwind and relax at your accommodation, or you can explore the bustling small town of Arusha at your own leisure.  We recommend a visit to the Arts and Crafts Market, where you can pick up local handicrafts made by local artisans.

After breakfast you will be greeted by one of the SafariHQ professional guides who will brief you on the activities of the day before heading off on the first day of your safari. After the briefing, we will make our way to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is flanked by the cliffs of the Manyara Escarpment, on the edge of the Rift Valley. This is one of Tanzania’s most diverse national parks, a modest size(325 square km’s) and is a combination of Rift Valley lake, open plain shoreline, dense woodlands and steep mountainside. The park boasts varied ecosystems, incredible birdlife and breathtaking views. The alkaline soda of Lake Manyara is home to an incredible array of birdlife. Highlights include thousands of pink hued flamingos on their perpetual migration. Also, be on the lookout for Manyara’s famous tree climbing lions, elephants, zebra, baboons, blue monkey and hippo. Overnight stay at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge/ camp.

After an early breakfast, enjoy an early morning game drive, before departing at 10:30am through the rolling hills of the Ngorongoro Highlands to visit a traditional Maasai village. Here you will be greeted by the Chief who will guide you around the boma and explain the culture of the Maasai people. After saying goodbye to the Maasai people, you will head towards the Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge to visit the museum. This world famous archaeological site containing fossils of our early human ancestors, thought to be over 2 million years old. From here,  you will continue on a game drive that will take you over the majestic plains of the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular park, also a world heritage site and proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder. The park is famed for its annual migration, when some 6 million hooves pound the open plains in search of fresh grazing.  The Serengeti offers amongst the most scintillating game viewing in Africa.  Expect to see great herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, topi, eland, hippo, leopard, wildebeest, zebra and much, much more. Overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge, here you will spend the next two nights while enjoying game drives over these world famous plains.

Enjoy a morning game drive in the Serengeti, home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth. Expect to spot a large variety of wildlife including cheetah, wildebeest, lion, giraffe, dik dik, impala, gazelle, buffalo and hippo. It is not uncommon to encounter an elusive leopard, playful lion cubs, friendly and inquisitive elephants and galloping herds of zebra. As enduring as the game viewing is the liberating sense of space that characterizes the Serengeti Plains, stretching across sunburnt savannah to a shimmering golden horizon at the end of the earth. After an early lunch you will continue onto the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will stay at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

Enjoy a stunningly picturesque drive as we descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a day of game viewing.  Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Forming a spectacular bowl of approximately 265 square kilometres, with sides up to 600 metres deep, it is home to approximately 30,000 animals at any one time. The Crater rim is over 2,200 metres high and experiences its own climate. From this high vantage point it is possible to see the tiny shapes of animals below making their away along the crater floor.  Ngorongoro Crater is home to the very last few black rhino left in captivity. Chances of encountering leopard and cheetah are good, and the always majestic black maned lion. Many flamingos can also been seen on the soda waters of Lake Magadi. Expect to see wildebeest, zebra,eland, gazelle and lions. Higher up on the rim of the crater is where you may be able to spot leopard, elephant, mountain reedbuck, buffalo, hyena, jackals and cheetah. Ascend the crater in the early afternoon as we make our way back to Arusha where the wildlife safari ends. You may wish to add one of our optional activities as your next destination. Maybe a gorilla trek or you may just like to spend a couple of days relaxing on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar.
