This renowned route takes trekkers through the popular trail via Thorong La Pass (5416m), with the added highlight of visiting Poonhill.

Venturing through diverse and awe-inspiring landscapes, the Annapurna Circuit Trek showcases the region's splendor, from traversing the profound Kali Gandaki gorge to touching the fringes of the Tibetan plateau. The journey encompasses a remarkable fusion of Hindu culture in the lowlands and Buddhist influences in the Higher Himalayas, exemplifying the vast geographical and cultural diversity along the Annapurna Circuit with the Poonhill trek.

The trek commences from Besisahar, meandering through subtropical forests, fast-flowing rivers, and enchanting waterfalls while offering breathtaking views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tilicho. Eventually, trekkers reach the picturesque village of Manang, a gateway to the higher altitudes. Ascending further, the trail leads to the challenging Thorong La pass, where a harmonious relationship with nature is fostered amidst serene snowy landscapes. On the descent, the trek takes a significant spiritual turn with a visit to the ancient temple of Muktinath, a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. Jomsom, nestled along the Kali Gandaki River, serves as the next stop, offering a chance to explore the Kaligandaki ridge, renowned as the world's deepest gorge, between the imposing Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks.

Poonhill, often called the photographer's paradise, presents a panoramic spectacle of the Annapurna Massif. Witnessing the mesmerizing sunrise and sunset from the vantage point of the Annapurna Circuit combined with the Poonhill trek is an unforgettable experience. Finally, the trek concludes in the beautiful city of Pokhara, followed by a return to the vibrant capital city of Kathmandu.

Key Highlights of the Trip:

1. Ascend to an elevation of 5416 meters by crossing the challenging Thorung La Pass along the Annapurna Circuit, a feat that tests physical and mental strength.

2. Discover a different facet of the Himalayas as you trek through terraced rice fields, oak forests, and vibrant rhododendron forests, experiencing the remarkable biodiversity of the Annapurna region.

3. Immerse yourself in the lives of Nepalese mountain communities, interact with locals, and connect with fellow trekkers while staying in cozy teahouses within small villages.

4. Explore the vibrant bazaars and ancient temples in Kathmandu, Nepal's compact capital. Consider extending your stay before the trek to understand Nepalese culture better.

5. Unwind in the tranquil sanctuary of Pokhara after completing the trek. Relax with your small group on the shores of Phewa Lake, basking in the awe-inspiring mountainous surroundings you have conquered.

Difficulty Level:

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is classified as moderately challenging. It requires reasonable fitness as you will cover long distances each day for two consecutive weeks. The most demanding section of the circuit is the ascent from Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass, which involves a steep 45-minute climb at an altitude of 5416m. Although physically demanding, the breathtaking views from the past make it all worthwhile.

Accommodation:

Throughout the trek, accommodations will consist of teahouses in the villages along the trail. These teahouses offer basic amenities, with rooms typically featuring two wooden bench beds, mattresses, and shared toilet facilities. En-suite rooms will be arranged whenever possible, but availability is limited, and pre-booking is not feasible. Showers may be available in some locations but are communal and often heated. The meal budget also accounts for additional expenses such as internet access, charger usage, and hot showers, which may incur extra charges.

Transportation:

It is important to note that the standard of driving in Nepal, especially in Kathmandu, can be congested and only sometimes regulated to the desired level. During the monsoon season (June to September), landslides may make certain roads outside the Kathmandu Valley impassable. For all transfers, we prioritize using high-quality vehicles and trained drivers. While seatbelts are not legally required in the back seats of vehicles in Nepal, we try to select vehicles with rear seatbelts fitted, although this cannot always be guaranteed. If you have any concerns regarding the vehicle or driving standards, please promptly communicate your feedback to the driver or our local office.

Luggage:

Please be aware that there are weight restrictions for internal flights from Jomsom to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu. The maximum limit for your main equipment bag is 10kg, and your day sack should be at most 5kg. Airport staff will weigh your baggage, so it is crucial to adhere to these limits. While porters can carry up to 15kg in the central equipment bag during the trek, you may need to transfer some items to your day sack for the flight from Jomsom. All belongings must be packed inside your main equipment bag, as external attachments are not advisable due to the risk of items being lost during transportation.

Getting There:

Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is the main airport in Nepal, and there are various options to reach it from Europe and the USA. Numerous flights connect Kathmandu to the Middle East, with airlines such as Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, and Emirates offering daily flights from Europe and the US with layovers at their central hubs. It is advisable to check the layover durations carefully, with Qatar Airways typically offering the shortest layovers in Doha. Alternatively, flights via Delhi are also possible, with airlines like British Airways, Air India, or Jet Airways providing shorter connecting flights to Kathmandu. However, be cautious of potentially lengthy layovers; it is worth noting that Air India has received mixed reviews.

Budget and Currency:

The Nepali Rupee is a closed currency, meaning it can only be acquired after arrival in Nepal. It is recommended to carry US Dollars, as they are widely accepted. The US bills should be new (post-2006), crisp, and untorn. Local currency can be obtained from ATMs or banks in Kathmandu, and most hotels in the city also provide currency exchange services. During the trek, teahouses generally prefer local currency over dollars, and you will likely receive a more favorable exchange rate in Kathmandu.

If you rely on credit or debit cards for emergency funds, informing your card issuer of your travel plans is crucial to ensure uninterrupted access to your funds.

Tipping:

Tipping is a customary practice in Nepal, and it is expected to reward the team according to the level of service provided during the trek. Tipping is discretionary; if you are dissatisfied with the service, you are not obligated to give tips. Tipping can be done in US dollars or Nepali Rupees, with new bills (post-2006), crisp, and untorn notes preferred. As members of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal and the Nepal Mountaineering Association, we adhere to their guidelines when recommending tip levels for guides and porters. A suggested $100-$150 budget per trekker is advised for tip contributions.

Размещение / проживание

You will be accommodated at Hotel Thamel Park or a similar hotel during your stay in Kathmandu. Your accommodation will be at Kuti Resort or a similar hotel in Pokhara. Both hotels provide comfortable and convenient amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. The rooms will be twin-sharing, allowing you to share the room with your fellow traveler or a travel companion.

If you prefer a single room for your trip, a single supplement can be arranged upon request. The single supplement cost will be an additional USD 200. However, please note that single rooms may only be available in some locations, especially at higher elevations during the trek. In Kathmandu and lower-elevation trekking regions, single rooms are more readily available, but teahouses with shared washing and toilet facilities are more common at higher elevations.

Rest assured; Peregrine Treks will make every effort to provide rooms with attached washrooms during your trek. However, it is essential to be aware that in some remote areas, teahouses may only have shared washing and toilet facilities. This is part of the authentic trekking experience and adds to the charm of the journey.

If you have any specific accommodation preferences or requirements, please communicate them to Peregrine Treks in advance, and they will do their best to accommodate your needs.
