Morning Hotel Pick-Up
After breakfast, your tour guide and driver will meet you in the hotel lobby at 8:00 AM. Begin your journey toward the historic Oudong Mountain, which served as the royal capital of Cambodia from 1618 to 1866 before the capital was moved to Phnom Penh.
- Visit Oudong Mountain: Explore the sacred hilltops dotted with stupas and temples, which contain the remains of several Khmer kings. These striking structures are visible from afar and offer sweeping views of the Cambodian countryside. The walk uphill is rewarding, offering not just exercise but also a deep historical and spiritual experience. Oudong was also a stronghold of Khmer Rouge resistance in 1979. A memorial built here honors the victims of that era.
- Sontte Wan Buddhist Meditation Center: Continue to the Sontte Wan Buddhist Meditation Center, the largest of its kind in Cambodia. This beautifully decorated complex is an important spiritual site and a serene place for visitors seeking calm and insight into Cambodian Buddhism.
- Silversmith Village: A well-known silversmith village along the Tonle Sap River. Watch skilled local artisans handcraft silver and bronze items, many of which are used in religious ceremonies and exported abroad.
Lunch at Local Restaurant: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant featuring traditional Khmer cuisine.
Afternoon Visit to Phnom Baset
After lunch, travel to Phnom Baset, home to a pre-Angkorian temple dating back to the 8th century and a large reclining Buddha. This peaceful site offers stunning views of the surrounding plains and rice fields, making it a perfect final stop of the day.
Return to Hotel: After the visit, return to your hotel to rest and reflect on a day full of history, culture, and local craftsmanship.
