Day 1

Vancouver - Parksville

You leave Vancouver via the famous Lions Gate Bridge and drive a short distance north before taking the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. Keep your eyes peeled for whales, seals and seabirds, which are native to the Strait of Georgia. After a short time you will reach Parksville. 2 nights at The Beach Club Resort (upper middle class) in Parksville. Approx. 60 km + 1.5 hour ferry ride.

Day 2

Parksville

Around Parksville and Qualicum Beach, numerous sandy beaches and hiking trails through the valleys surrounded by mountains are waiting to be discovered by you. Fishing, a bike tour or a kayak trip could be on your program today. Or how about a detour to the Horn Lake limestone caves?

Day 3

Parksville - Ucluelet

Shortly after leaving the coast, you will reach MacMillan Provincial Park, also known as Cathedral Cove, where you can marvel at the ancient rainforest on a hike. Port Alberni on the Pacific Ocean, about halfway to Ucluelet, is a good place to stop for lunch. Early in the afternoon you will reach the Pacific coast, where hikes on the Wild Pacific Trail or a kayak tour to the Broken Group Islands will make your outdoor heart beat faster. The waves crashing on the shore are of course particularly spectacular in bad weather, but a trip to Amphitrite Point Lighthouse is also worthwhile in good weather. 2 nights at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort (upper middle class) in Ucluelet. Approx. 145 km.

Day 4

Pacific Rim National Park

The highlight of the west coast of Vancouver Island is of course the Pacific Rim National Park, directly north of Ucluelet. The Rainforest Trail should definitely be on your list, but a leisurely hike along Long Beach is also worthwhile. In Tofino, you can watch the surfers before taking a look around the town's thriving gastronomic and artistic scene.

Day 5

Ucluelet - Campbell River

From the spectacular Pacific coast, you return to the east coast via Highway 4. You can book ziplining or kayaking tours at Kennedy Lake Canyon and those who prefer a more leisurely pace will find numerous idyllic picnic spots and viewpoints at Sproat Lake. 2 nights at the Coast Discovery Inn Campbell River (mid-range). Approx. 250 km.

Day 6

Campbell River

Campbell River has dubbed itself the salmon capital of the world, a fact you can verify especially in the fall when large schools of salmon captivate nature watchers and anglers alike. A possible day trip could take you to Strathcona Provincial Park, where you will find the highest mountain on Vancouver Island, or you can hike to the rushing waterfalls in Elk Falls Park or along the Ripple Rock Trail.

Day 7

Campbell River - Victoria

Today, the picturesque coastal route takes you all the way to the south of Vancouver Island to Victoria. Stop in the idyllic village of Fanny Bay with its excellent oysters, in Qualicum Beach, which is known for its arts and crafts, or in Duncan, where you can discover 39 totem poles and their interesting history on a route through the town. Once in Victoria you can stroll along the harbor or visit various art galleries, Victoria is a wonderful place to explore on foot. 2 nights at the Chateau Victoria Hotel & Suites (mid-range). Approx. 265 km.

Day 8

Victoria

How about a visit to Parliament today with interesting information on the history of British Columbia or a bike tour? Numerous whale watching tours can be booked from Victoria and garden lovers should not miss the Butchart Gardens.

Day 9

Victoria - Vancouver

Today you cycle through the islands of the Strait of Georgia from Victoria back to Vancouver. Approx. 70 km + 1.5 hours ferry.
