Prepare for an early start to explore this natural marvel. The pick-up time depends on your hotel’s location and will be confirmed the day before your trip. Typically, pick-up is scheduled between 3:45 a.m. and 4:15 a.m., followed by a scenic 2-hour drive to Cusipata (3,329 m / 12,772 ft), passing through picturesque valleys and agricultural communities.
After a hearty breakfast near Cusipata, we’ll continue by van along a stunning mountain route, with our first views of Ausangate, Cusco’s highest peak. Along the way, you’ll see herds of alpacas, llamas, and local villagers going about their daily lives.
The trek begins at Phuluwasipata with a 2-hour ascent to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), the highest point of the trek at 5,020 m / 16,470 ft. Here, you’ll enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of multicolored ridges and vast valleys. We’ll spend about 30 minutes exploring, taking photos, and soaking in this extraordinary landscape.
Following this, we’ll embark on a 30-minute hike to the Red Valley (Valle Rojo), a hidden gem characterized by its vibrant red and green hues due to iron-rich soil. This secluded area offers a serene atmosphere and unique photographic opportunities.
The descent takes around 1.5 hours back to Phuluwasipata, where our transport will be waiting. Afterward, enjoy a fresh, energizing lunch before heading back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
