Sahara Desert Trekking Tour & Wild Camping

We’ll start by picking you up from your Riad or Hotel in Marrakech and setting off on an adventure to the High Atlas Mountains, North Africa's highest mountain range. Along the way, we’ll pass through lush, fertile valleys and drive over the Tizi N'Tichka Pass, standing at 2260 meters. As we journey through picturesque Berber villages and the scenic Ounila Valley, we’ll make our way to the famous Kasbah of Ait-Benhaddou.

This ancient fortified village, dating back to the 12th century, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its unique architecture. It's also been featured in countless international films and TV series, including *Gladiator* and *Game of Thrones*. We’ll take you on a guided tour through the narrow mud-brick alleys of the Kasbah, leading you to the granaries, which were once the most fortified part of the village.

After a tasty lunch at a nearby restaurant, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, often called the "Cinema Capital of Morocco." Here, you can visit the famous movie studios and sets before heading to the charming Kasbah of Tourirt, a great stop to stretch your legs. From there, we’ll follow the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” winding through the stunning Valley of Roses. Finally, we’ll drive through the scenic Dades Valley, filled with picturesque landscapes and fields of wheat, walnuts, and figs. At the end of the day, we’ll drop you off at your Riad in the Dades Valley to unwind after a memorable journey.

We’ll meet you once again at your Riad or hotel in the Dades Valley and begin our journey through some of Morocco’s most stunning landscapes. Our first stop is the town of Tinerhir, which was once a busy transit point for miners and a vital trade hub for caravans. Just a short drive from there, you’ll find a peaceful palm oasis and the remnants of an abandoned 19th-century village.

Next, we’ll head to the incredible Todgha Gorges, where towering 300-meter-high orange canyons rise dramatically on either side of a crystal-clear river, cutting through the limestone cliffs. After soaking in the beauty of the gorges, we’ll continue our journey toward the desert, winding through the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass by Berber towns, villages, and oases, and you might even spot nomads tending to their sheep, goats, and camels.

Our next stop is Erfoud, a small town known for its fossils and as one of Morocco's top exporters of dates. From Erfoud, it’s about a 40-minute drive to Merzouga, where the Sahara’s vast dunes await. As we arrive at a hotel nestled right at the edge of the dunes, you’ll have time to unwind and enjoy the facilities before we take you up to the hotel terrace to catch a breathtaking desert sunset.

Get ready for an unforgettable day in the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where adventure and natural beauty come together. Our experienced, passionate local guides will meet you in the morning at your hotel, where we’ll begin our trek into the vast, majestic desert. Hop on your camel, and let these gentle animals take you through the towering golden dunes, each one offering a new perspective of the breathtaking landscape.

As we journey deeper into the desert, your local guides will share their deep knowledge of the area, pointing out unique features of the desert ecosystem, from the native plants and wildlife to the fascinating history of the region. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to pause, take in the stunning views, and snap some incredible photos of the endless dunes stretching as far as the eye can see.

After exploring the desert, we’ll find the perfect spot to set up camp. Your guides will expertly prepare a traditional Moroccan camp, where you’ll be treated to an authentic, home-cooked meal made from local ingredients. As the sun sets, you’ll relax under a sky full of stars, with the quiet stillness of the desert surrounding you. This peaceful, unforgettable experience will give you a true taste of desert life, guided by locals who know and love this incredible landscape. 

Spend the night in your cozy desert camp, savoring the warmth of a campfire and the connection to the timeless beauty of the Sahara.

The following morning, after a peaceful night under the stars, we’ll continue our desert adventure, trekking deeper into the vast Erg Chebbi dunes. The soft golden sands stretch endlessly in front of us as we guide our camels across the tranquil landscape. As the day unfolds, your knowledgeable local guides will share more stories about the desert, its hidden gems, and the Berber culture that thrives here. The journey will lead you to the other side of the dunes, where the scenery becomes even more dramatic, with rolling sandscapes and a sense of total isolation from the world.

As the sun begins to dip, we’ll reach our destination—**Tiziri Camp**, a luxury desert retreat nestled in the dunes. Here, you’ll unwind and relax in comfort, surrounded by the beauty of the Sahara. The camp is designed to blend modern luxury with traditional Berber charm, offering cozy, spacious tents equipped with all the amenities you need for a restful stay.

After freshening up and enjoying the serene surroundings, we’ll gather for a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. The night comes alive as a local Berber music group performs a live show around the campfire, filling the desert air with the soulful sounds of drums and melodies. You can relax with a drink, soak in the music, and share stories with fellow travelers, all while being enveloped in the magic of the desert.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the camp, a 4x4 will pick you up for an exciting ride across the mesmerizing Erg Chebbi dunes. You'll arrive at a hotel nestled within the dunes, where your driver will be waiting to continue the journey.

Leaving the golden sands of Merzouga behind, you'll head to the lively Rissani Local Market. Here, you can take a leisurely stroll, soak in the vibrant atmosphere, and get a glimpse into Berber culture and the region’s unique trading traditions.

Next, you'll make your way to N’Kob, a charming village known for its 44 traditional Kasbahs and lush palm grove oasis. The journey takes you through the rugged Hamada mountains and the scenic Deraa Valley, dotted with endless palm trees.

In Agdez, a delicious lunch awaits before you set off for Ouarzazate, crossing the dramatic Ait Saouen mountain pass. Known as the "Hollywood of Morocco," Ouarzazate has been the backdrop for countless international films and TV shows.

Before heading to your accommodation, you’ll have the chance to explore the city's famous cinema studios, the film museum, and the historic Taourirt Kasbah, right in the heart of Ouarzazate.

End the day with a relaxing overnight stay in this fascinating city.
