After breakfast, spend the day exploring some of the most important historical and religious sites in Colombo.
first stop will be the Colombo Fort area, which was once the centre of colonial power in Sri Lanka. Drive through this area to see some of the important historic buildings, such as the Dutch Hospital and the Old Parliament Building.
Next, visit the Wolvendaal Church, a beautiful Dutch Reformed church that was built in the 18th century. The church is known for its impressive colonial architecture and beautiful interior.
Then visit the St Lucia's Cathedral, an important Catholic church in Colombo that was originally built in the 19th century. The church is known for its beautiful stained-glass windows and architecture.
Next, visit the Sri Ponnambalam Vanesar Kovil, a significant Hindu temple in Colombo that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is known for its colourful architecture and intricate carvings.
Also visit St Anthony's Shrine, a Catholic church that is dedicated to the popular saint who is believed to have miraculous healing powers.
Next, visit the Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple, a peaceful place that is known for its beautiful paintings and statues of the Buddha. This temple is a great place to experience traditional Sri Lankan Buddhist culture.
Finally, visit the Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple and Seema Malakaya Temple, which are located on Beira Lake in central Colombo. This temple complex is known for its beautiful architecture, including a floating temple that is located on the lake itself.
After a full day of exploring, we will retire to our overnight accommodations in Colombo, where we can reflect on the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.
