Pick up at 8 am, then drive towards the Citadel of Salah El Din, built on famous hill Al Moqattam in Cairo, that was constructed for military purposes, for protecting Cairo from incoming threats. Since then, it became a residence of the king of Egypt for many centuries. On this tour, you will visit the beautiful Mohamed Ali known as Alabaster Mosque. Political event called “Massacre of the Citadel” happened in the Citadel in 1811, where Mohamed Ali, the ruler of Egypt (1805-1849) murdered Mameluke leaders in Qasr El Gawhara palace, and it’s not currently opened for visits.
Proceed, to the most and biggest mosques in Cairo which is El Sultan Hassan Mosque and another big famous Mosque which is the Al-Rifa’i Mosque. The building is located opposite the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, which dates from around 1361, and was architecturally conceived as a complement to the older structure. The mosque was constructed next to two large public squares and off of several European style.
Then we continue our day tour to Islamic Cairo that was founded in 641 A.D by the First Muslim leader Amr Ibn Elas. Over there in Islamic Cairo you will be able to visit and enter some of the mosques such as ;`Masjid`Amr Ibn Elas Mosque, followed by a visit to Ibn Tulun Mosque which was completed in 879 AD. This mosque that he had been built over a period of three years of mud-brick became the focal point of the Tulunid capital that lasted only 26 years. Stop for lunch break at a local restaurant.
Then, visit to the Old Cairo that is known as Christian Coptic Cairo. It is among the most important locations visited by the Holy Family where the spiritual impact of their presence is sill felt.
Discover gilded icons and holy relics in an Old City Coptic church. Visit the Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergious) was built as a prime landmark for many tourists. This, and the whole area of the Fort of Babylon, is a destination of pilgrimage not only for Egyptians but for Christians from around the world. An air of piety and devotion permeates the whole district here. You will also get to learn about the old Jewish synagogue – Ben Ezra Synagogue.
Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cairo or Giza.
