Your adventure begins at the Londorossi Gate, where you'll complete the necessary registration before driving to the Lemosho trailhead. The trek kicks off with a gentle ascent through the dense rainforest, where you'll spot various wildlife and exotic plants. After a few hours, you'll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, nestled under the towering trees of the forest.
Leaving the forest behind, you'll enter the moorland zone, where the landscape opens up to sweeping views of the surrounding plains. The trail gradually ascends through heather and volcanic rock formations until you reach Shira 1 Camp, located on the western edge of the Shira Plateau.

Today's trek is a relatively easy walk across the Shira Plateau, where you'll enjoy panoramic views of Kibo Peak and the distant Mount Meru. You'll arrive at Shira 2 Camp in the early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to relax and acclimatize to the higher altitude.
This day is crucial for acclimatization. The trail leads you eastward to the base of the Lava Tower, a striking volcanic plug at 4,600 meters. After a lunch break near the tower, you'll descend into the Barranco Valley, known for its giant senecio and lobelia plants, before reaching Barranco Camp.
Today’s trek involves the challenging but rewarding Barranco Wall, a steep, rocky ridge that requires some scrambling. Once at the top, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Karanga Valley. The trail then descends into the valley and ascends again to Karanga Camp.
A relatively short day in terms of distance, but the elevation gain is significant. The trail ascends through the alpine desert, with views of the summit getting closer. You'll arrive at Barafu Camp by early afternoon, allowing plenty of time to rest before the final ascent.
Your summit day begins around midnight. With headlamps lighting the way, you'll trek through the night across steep scree slopes to reach Stella Point at dawn. From there, it’s a short climb to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp.
On your final day, you'll enjoy a leisurely descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. After signing out at the gate, you'll receive your summit certificates before being driven back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
