Khor Virap Monastery - Areni-1 Cave - Noravank Monastery

We’ll begin the day with a drive to Khor Virap Monastery, offering the most breathtaking view of the biblical Mount Ararat. The monastery stands on a hilltop overlooking the ruins of ancient Artashat, Armenia’s capital in the 2nd century BC. Within its historic walls lies the underground prison where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was held for 13 years for preaching Christianity in Armenia during the late 3rd century. Visitors can even descend into the 7-meter-deep well where he was confined. From here, enjoy an unforgettable, close-up view of the majestic Mount Ararat. Armenian Paganism

This morning, we’ll head to the Garni Pagan Temple, dedicated to Mihr—the ancient Armenian god of the sun. Built in the 1st century AD, this striking rectangular, colonnaded structure is a rare example of Hellenistic architecture in Armenia. The temple stands dramatically on a triangular plateau, surrounded on three sides by deep gorges and majestic mountains. Nearby, you can also see the remains of the fortress walls and a Roman-style bathhouse featuring an intricate mosaic floor. Next, we’ll visit one of Armenia’s most beautiful natural wonders—the Symphony of Stones. This fascinating rock formation, created by the cooling and collapse of volcanic lava, resembles the pipes of a grand organ and is considered one of the country’s must-see sights.

Our journey continues to the Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved partly into a solid rock cliff. The monastery takes its name from the “Geghard,” or Holy Spear, once kept here. The site’s cave churches and serene atmosphere make it one of the most remarkable spiritual landmarks in Armenia.

We’ll then return to Yerevan, where you’ll have time to explore Vernissage, the city’s open-air art and craft market. Here, you can meet local artisans and choose a handmade souvenir to remember your Armenian journey. Overnight stay – Hotel in Yerevan
