Travel with us along the ancient, legendary Frankincense Route from the capital of the Kingdom of Jordan to Al-'Ula. For several thousand years, this ancient caravan route has been used to transport the "gold of Arabia" from what is now Yemen to the Mediterranean. Long before the birth of Christ, the northern Arabian nomads controlled this lucrative trade. From the trading profits, they created a powerful empire - the Nabataean Empire.Capital Amman, natural spectacle Dead Sea and desert landscape Wadi RumDiscover with us the traces of this culturally extraordinary epoch and admire monumental temples and palaces. The rock tombs of Mada'in Saleh and the rock city of Petra are certainly the highlights of this trip.rock tombs of Mada'in Saleh and the Nabataean city of PetraBut you will not only be fascinated by the history of northern Arabia, but also by its present. The people have preserved their traditions to this day and at the same time changed them in such a way that they have mastered the challenges of the present in a very modern and pioneering way. What has remained unchanged over the centuries, however, is the hospitality, which is still considered a great asset today and will welcome you everywhere. Immerse yourself in a region that can be traveled across borders for the first time and therefore has what it takes to challenge many of the clichés. But that's exactly why you are traveling: to experience, feel and taste places for yourself. Ahlan wa sahlan fi Sa'udia wa Urdun.

This metropolis is a precious relic from ancient times, hidden by towering mountain ranges, offering unparalleled views that make it the most magnificent and impressive ancient wonder that still exists today. Petra, known as Jordan's most famous and breathtaking destination, invites you to explore its wonders. Petra, aptly named the "rose-red city half as old as time", was founded two millennia ago by the Nabataeans. Its magnificent architectural masterpieces and kaleidoscopic stones have an awe-inspiring appeal. Your journey to this ancient Nabataean capital begins on horseback and takes you through the fascinating Siq, a narrow gorge flanked by high cliffs. At the end of the Siq, the Treasury, Petra's most famous monument, awaits you, captivating you with its mysterious charm. Your tour then unfolds and gradually reveals the secrets that this extraordinary city holds. Overnight stay as on the previous day.
After a morning at leisure in Petra, drive to Wadi Rum to enjoy the desert on an off-road safari. Wadi Rum, home to nomadic Bedouin tribes, is a tranquil haven of stars, sand and sun. Once inhabited by the Nabataeans of prehistoric times, you can lose yourself in vast landscapes and horizons in Wadi Rum. The tranquillity of the desert calms your mind and quiets your thoughts. Overnight stay in the Wadi Rum desert camp. (Travel time approx. 2 hours, 120 km).
The province of Tabuk has a rich history and deserves a museum that highlights its heritage. Since 2019, visitors have been able to admire some fascinating artifacts on display in the old Hijaz Railway Station in the city of Tabuk, which has been renovated for this purpose. Located in Tabuk, Hijaz Station is a testament to the rich history and cultural significance of the region. Originally built as part of the historic Hijaz Railway, this quaint and charming station invites visitors to take a trip back in time. In the old Tabuk district, you will find a charming little marketplace, the "Souq Twaheen", which caters to the local Bedouin community. It serves as a one-stop shop for all their needs, from traditional black and white tarpaulins made of goat hair to modern conveniences such as canvas cooler bags and gas stoves. In addition, this bustling place offers a delightful selection of intricately patterned rugs, cushions and camel saddles. There are spectacular fortresses around Tabuk, but the imposing castle in the city center is probably the oldest. An old castle dating back to 1559, within its walls are two mosques connected by courtyards, staircases and watchtowers, and there is a small museum detailing the history of the castle. It was built to protect the water station as well as for security and surveillance purposes and was one of the stops on the pilgrimage route to Mecca. The Al-Tawbah Mosque, also known as the Castle Mosque, is an important landmark in Tabuk due to its association with the Battle of Tabuk. In 630 AD, the Prophet Muhammad and 30,000 men camped for 20 days at the site, now known as Al-Tawbah Mosque, in preparation for the Battle of Tabuk. The mosque was originally built under Caliph Omar bin Abdulaziz from bricks, mud and palm trunks and has been renovated several times. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 3-4 hours, 240 km).
Visit the natural jewel of Saudi Arabia, Wadi Qaraqir - also known as Wadi Desi. A 15 km long canyon that runs through the Jebel Qaraqir, an oasis of paradise palms with clear, flowing water. Today, this natural wonder is one of the must-see places in Saudi Arabia. The striking feature of this wadi is its scale: at the eastern entrance to the canyon, the side cliffs are already over 100 meters high, but at the western entrance, the distance between the bottom of the wadi and the highest cliffs is up to 500 meters! Tabuk province has one of the most amazing collections of natural wonders in the Kingdom. Among them, Al Shaq stands out as a lesser known but fascinating attraction. The name Al Shaq means 'rift', which aptly describes the landscape as tectonic forces have dramatically torn apart the earth in this area. For this reason, it is often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Saudi Arabia". A path provides relatively easy access to the northern part of the canyon, where the full extent of Al Shaq becomes visible. An overhanging rocky outcrop provides an excellent vantage point for an unforgettable photo. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 5h, 400 km).
Al-'Ula is part of the province of Medina. Due to its underground water resources and its strategic location on the Incense Route, the town played an important role in the history of the Arabian Peninsula. Today you will explore AlUla, the birthplace of two ancient Arab kingdoms. In the 1st millennium BC, Al-'Ula witnessed the rise of the ancient city of Dadan, which became the capital of two successive kingdoms, Dadan and Lihyan, that ruled over the northwest of the Arabian Peninsula. In Dadan, its capital, archaeological excavations have uncovered remains of these magnificent kingdoms, in particular an impressive necropolis with tombs carved into the eastern side of Jebel Dadan overlooking the city. These tombs are believed to date back to the 5th century B.C. These lion sculptures, which illustrate the profound influence of Mesopotamian art, proudly serve as iconic symbols of this ancient oasis. Jabal Ikmah, the sprawling library of Saudi Arabia, is located in a remote gorge amidst a breathtaking desert landscape. Exploring this remarkable site, adorned with inscriptions believed to date back to the 1st millennium BC, offers a glimpse into the past. By viewing the rock paintings depicting humans, musical instruments and animals, visitors can gain insight into the importance of these elements in the daily lives of the "Dadanites", "Lihyanites" and other civilizations. Amidst the breathtakingly beautiful desert landscape lies a true wonder of nature - the Elephant Rock. This iconic geological marvel rises 52 meters into the sky, its majestic form sculpted over millions of years by the merciless forces of wind and water erosion. At dusk, the sky turns into a canvas of vibrant colors, casting a warm glow on the impressive rock formation. The magnificent elephant seems to come to life, its red hue radiating an ethereal aura. As night falls, a starry sky shimmers above you, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that is simply unforgettable. Overnight stay at the resort. (Travel time approx. 4-5 hours, 340 km).
Join us on an exciting adventure to Hegra, a wonderland of history and architecture in Saudi Arabia. As the country's first UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest surviving site of the Nabataean civilization south of Petra, Hegra is a gem waiting to be explored. With 111 well-preserved tombs dating from the first century BC to the first century AD, the site is a remarkable testament to the architectural expertise of the Nabataeans. The Rawis, ancient Arab storytellers and reciters, will guide you through the various tombs and reveal the secrets of Hegra's fascinating history. Don't miss the chance to discover one of the most symbolic sites in Al-'Ula and experience the wonders of Nabataean civilization first-hand. Immerse yourself in the magical world of Al Ula's past with a tour of the enchanting old market of Al Ula. This is the place where pilgrims, travelers and permanent settlers have gathered for centuries, and now you have the chance to experience it for yourself. The town has been inhabited since before the 12th century and until the early 1980s and offers a treasure trove of unique oral traditions and living memories for researchers to discover. With 900 houses, 500 stores and 5 town squares, the old town of Al-'Ula is a labyrinth of remnants of original stone and mud-brick buildings that will take your breath away. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 1h, 60 km).
In the morning, it's time to say goodbye to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Transfer to the airport and return journey to Germany.
