The visit will start with the national museum and the archaeological site located on the hill of Byrsa in the heart of the city of Carthage in Tunisia. It is one of the two main archaeological museums in Tunisia along with the National Bardo Museum.

The visit will continue to the Antonine Baths which are the largest Roman thermal complex built on African soil. They also constitute the only thermal building in Carthage.

Some vestiges remain, despite the ferocious predation that raged on the archaeological site and stripped the monument of its materials.

  • amphitheater
  • the circus
  • Damous Carita basilica
  • Antonine thermal baths
  • Theater

Return to the hotel, dinner and evening

After breakfast, head to Utica : The archaeological site of Utica, which covers a very modest area, is today located 12 km from the sea as a result of the deltaic embankment of the Medjerda river. It has a few buildings on the surface, in particular this superb "cascade house", but also other houses, temples, a forum, thermal baths, traces of theaters, circuses, amphitheatres, etc.

Continuation to Bizerte and its famous port where you will have time not only to stroll through its old medina but also to taste a good grilled fish in a restaurant with a view of the Port: Your guide will accompany you to buy the fish at the nearby market and the restaurant will take care of you grilling it.

After the meal departure to the national park of Ichkeul (3rd site registered in the world heritage of UNESCO) which invites you to an intimate meeting with a sublime landscape, this mountain and this lake make the park a unique site in the world.

This 12,600 ha territory exudes great serenity, inspired by the softness of its relief. In this vast plateau, life flows at the rhythm of nature.

Since its creation in December 18, 1980, the park guarantees this generous territory respect for its integrity. Welcome to this haven of peace!

Departure to Dougga, where we will spend the night, crossing the famous Andalusian town of Testour and visit its famous mosque: Installed at the top of the minaret, a clock, whose peculiarity lies in its hands which turn in opposite directions and the numbers which are placed upside down. This clock had broken down for a long time but was restored on November 12, 2014 thanks to the Association for the Protection of the Medina of Testour in collaboration with the German association, Goethe Institut.

After breakfast, departure to the archaeological site of Dougga located in the northwest region of Tunisia. This site is perched on the top of a hill at 571 m above sea level and overlooks the fertile valley of the Khalled wadi. Before the annexation of Numidia by Rome, Thugga had more than six centuries of history and was, in all likelihood, the first capital of the Numidian kingdom. It flourished in Roman times but experienced a decline from the Byzantine period and during the Islamic period. The ruins

The impressive buildings visible today give an idea of the resources available to a Romanized Numidian city.

Lunch and continuation of the visits.

Departure to Kairouan, the holy city of Tunisia and the quintessential Aghlabid city where we will spend the night.

After breakfast, departure and visit of the city of Kairouan, starting with the great Okba Ibn Nafaa mosque.

Lunch

Visit the mausoleum "Sidi Sahbi" one of the most revered places in Kairouan, because it houses the remains of one of the Prophet's companions, Abu Zamaâ al-Balawi, who came to Ifriqiya in the year 34 AH (654 JC), that is to say only about twenty years after the death of the Prophet of which he said to have kept 3 hairs of his beard, relic with which he asked to be buried after his death.

Free afternoon to stroll through its wonderful medina and visit its authentic alleys…

Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Enjoy breackfast and head to visit El Jem and the ruins of the ancient city of Thysdrus, famous for its amphitheater, the largest in the Roman Empire (between 27,000 and 30,000 spectators) after the Colosseum in Rome.

Visit the famous museum of El Jem and enjoy a lunch in a restaurant with a view of the Colosseum

Continue to Sousse to visit its old Medina which is part of the Unesco world heritage. "The Medina of Sousse constitutes a homogeneous architectural ensemble which reflects Arab-Muslim town planning applied to a coastal city exposed throughout its history to piracy and the dangers coming from the sea. It constitutes, with the medina of Monastir, the only prototype that has come down to us from the coastal military architecture of the first centuries of Islam. Several monuments in the medina bear witness to this robust, ascetic and imposing architecture, notably the Ribat, the Grand Mosque, the Bou Ftata mosque, the Casbah and the ramparts. The Ribat, both a fort and a religious building, is a prominent example of this type of construction. The Medina is also made up of juxtaposed dwellings divided into quarters separated by winding alleys and narrow dead ends, a typology in the process of disappearing and threatened by modern life and the evolution of architectural techniques. It also contains a set of unique monuments dating from the Aghlabid and Fatimid periods, which allow us to follow the evolution of Islamic art in its first period. "

Breakfast and departure to Nabeul, seat of the clay gods, stop at the city's ceramists, assist to a didactic demonstration of the pottery creation of ceramists.

Continuation to the archaeological site of Kerkouan: It is one of the most precious archaeological sites of Tunisia, because the only one, until our days, whose foundation dates back to the Punic era - perhaps in the 6th century BC . J-C. - and that the Romans did not rebuild after the annexation of Africa to the Roman Empire, leaving us an urban space, that of a small city that has not yet been identified, typically Punic.

Continuation to Haouaria to enjoy lunch, then, to visit its famous caves or Punic quarries.

Departure to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Free day and transfer to the airport according to the flight time
