Eastern Europe Discovery: Budapest to Bucharest (Small Group)

Breakfast and meet your guide at the designated location and board our AC vehicle. From Chain Bridge, head to Margaret Bridge and cross the overpass to Buda’s Castle District.

Next, cross Elisabeth Bridge until you arrive at the Central Market Hall, then you’ll drive past the Hungarian National Museum, the Great Synagogue, and the City Park, where one of Budapest’s top thermal baths, zoo, and theme parks are located. Hop off at Heroes’ Square and discover the plaza’s numerous sculptures.

Take Andrássy Avenue, Budapest’s main thoroughfare, passing by the beautiful Opera House and St. Stephen’s Basilica to the Hungarian Parliament.

Skip the long queues and walk straight into the imposing Parliament. Following the indications of an audio guide, you'll explore the building’s most relevant rooms like the Assembly Hall and the Central Hall, home to the Holy Crown of Hungary.

The tour comes to an end just outside the Parliament.  Return at your own pace to the hotel.

Breakfast and pick-up from your hotel .  Take a quick stroll around Arad, a vibrant Transylvanian town, after crossing the border.  Explore Arad's architectural treasures, including the neoclassical State Theatre, the neo-Gothic Red Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the City Hall Palace, and the Palace of Culture.  If you have time, you may also pause for lunch at a nearby restaurant.  Proceed to Timisoara, a bustling city renowned for its breathtaking architecture inspired by Turkish and Austro-Hungarian styles, in the afternoon.  In 2019, Timisoara received the title of European Capital of Culture.  Spend the night in a Timisoara hotel.

After breakfast, begin your day with a visit to Corvin Castle, one of Europe’s largest Gothic castles, rich with history and legends. Next, head to Alba Iulia, a city steeped in history. Explore its Old Town, where Romania's unification treaty was signed in 1918. In the afternoon, arrive in Sibiu, a city known for its charming Old Town and cultural significance. Join a guided walking tour to learn about Sibiu's history and see why it was named the European Capital of Culture in 2007. Overnight at a hotel in Sibiu.

Visit the fairytale village of Sighisoara, where Vlad Dracula was born in 1431, to start your day.  Take a guided walking tour to discover the ancient landmarks and medieval streets.  Visit Brasov, one of Romania's most cherished cities, in the afternoon.  Explore the Old Town on foot to explore the medieval city gates and the well-known Black Church.  Spend the night in a Brasov hotel.

 Breakfast and visit Bran Castle, famously known as Dracula’s Castle. Learn about the history of Vlad Dracula as you explore this 14th-century fortress. Later, head to Sinaia to visit the stunning Peles Castle, a 19th-century royal residence that remains beautifully preserved. Continue your journey to Bucharest, where you'll spend the night
