Charmante valleien en betoverende stadjes, berglandschappen en natuurlijk het Canal Grande. Dit alles wacht op je tijdens je fietstocht door Zuid-Tirol naar de Adriatische Zee. Het motto van deze route is "beleven en genieten". Het pad voert langs dromerige wijngaarden en door pittoreske steden. Een glas rode wijn, antipasti en de originele Italiaanse tiramisu zorgen voor het culinaire genot tijdens welverdiende pauzes.

Als je een genotzoeker en cultuurliefhebber bent, heb je reden tot feestvieren: tijdens een fietstocht naar de lagunestad vind je alles wat je hartje begeert. Het startpunt van de tocht is de hoofdstad van Zuid-Tirol, Bolzano. Van daaruit fiets je over glooiende heuvels, door cultureel rijke steden en langs indrukwekkende landschappen. Korte omwegen en pauzes zijn gepland in Trento, Riva aan het Gardameer, Verona, Vicenza en Abano. Je hebt altijd het doel voor ogen! Na zeven dagen bereik je de majestueuze lagunestad Venetië. En dat is nog niet alles: Het San Marcoplein, een gondeltocht over het Canal Grande en de unieke charme van de stad zorgen voor een grandioze afsluiting van de reis.
Nuttige informatie over de Italiaanse tour
Je zit in totaal acht dagen in het zadel op weg naar Venetië. De moeilijkheidsgraad van de tocht is eenvoudig en ideaal voor vrijetijdsfietsers. Dagelijks staat er tussen de 45 en 70 kilometer op het programma. Door de glooiende heuvels en vlakke fietspaden heb je tijd over om van het dromerige landschap te genieten.

You will pedal along beautiful cycle paths beside the river Adige, partly through orchards, to Salorno where the German speaking Tyrol ends. The pathways along a dam lead right to Trento (picturesque old town).

First, you will continue to cycle along the Adige, to Rovereto from here the tour leads westwards towards Lake Garda. In Mori you will taste the world famous pistachio ice-cream in the Gelateria Bologna. After a short ascent, you will descend down to the lake to Torbole and on to Riva. From here, a boat trip will take you down the entire length of the lake to Sirmione or Desenzano.

Partly flat, partly slightly hilly, the route will take you through the vineyards on to Verona, a town full of sights (the Festival Arena, Juliet’s house, the old town walls).

Today’s route is initially flat and then you will cycle through the Monti Berici hills to the excursion area of Vicenza, with a beautiful view over the city. To make this longer stage a bit shorter, you can also travel the first part by train to San Bonifacio. In the old town of Vicenza you can feel the spirit of Palladio, the famous architect from the Middle Ages.

On leaving Vicenza, you will see numerous Venetian villas, such as the Villa Rotonda. The route along the river Bacchiglione leads to Abano Terme, one of the famous Italian spa towns. From Abano Terme, you can easily travel by bus to Padua, the city of St Anthony and the scholars. There you will have enough time to enjoy the thermal baths. If you are culturally-minded, you can enjoy Padua overnight for an additional charge. In category charm, this extra night is included.

With a light wind behind you most of the time, it’s an easy ride towards the sea. The landscape is full of meadows and fields. This stage will take you to the mainland before Venice, with its excellent bus service into the city of lagoons. At the end of your tour, not far from Marcus square, you can look forward to a little Grappa tasting session.
