HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR

Gallipoli:De Eerste Wereldoorlog strijd om de controle over de Dardanellen (Hellespont) werd voornamelijk uitgevochten op het Turkse schiereiland Gallipoli met verschrikkelijke verliezen. Tijdens de negen maanden durende campagne (1915-1916) tussen het Ottomaanse Rijk en de geallieerde mogendheden (het Britse Rijk en Frankrijk) vielen er ongeveer 100.000 doden en 400.000 gewonden. Vandaag de dag heerst er stilte op de slagvelden van Gallipoli. Ze zijn bewaard gebleven als een nationaal historisch park met marmeren en bronzen monumenten en zijn een van de meest emotioneel aangrijpende plaatsen in Turkije.

Troy:Door de strategische ligging tussen het Europese en Aziatische continent, die de Egeïsche en Zwarte Zee handelsroutes verbindt, is Troy duizenden jaren lang een belangrijk handelscentrum en nederzetting geweest en heeft het te lijden gehad onder vele aanvallen van verschillende naties die probeerden de stad in te nemen, vaak met grote verwoestingen tot gevolg.

Pergamon: De stad had een grote strategische waarde omdat het uitkeek over de Caicusvallei (Bakırçay), die toegang bood van Pergamon naar de Egeïsche kust. Pergamon bereikte het hoogtepunt van zijn invloed in de Hellenistische periode en werd de hoofdstad van de Attalidische koningen. Tijdens de Romeinse periode was de stad de eerste hoofdstad van de Aziatische provincie, maar verloor deze status uiteindelijk aan een lokale rivaal, Efeze. ISTANBUL STADSTOER

After breakfast, you start the Istanbul City Tour with a visit to the Hippodrome. The ancient Hippodrome was the scene of chariot races with the three monuments: the Obelisk of Theodosius, the bronze Serpentine Column and the Column of Constantine. Afterwards, visit the Sultanahmet Imperial Mosque. Opposite the Great Mosque of Hagia Sophia, it was built in the 16th century by the architect Mehmet and is known as the Blue Mosque because of its magnificent interior made of blue Iznik tiles. Next, visit the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, formerly known as the Church of Divine Wisdom, simply the best of its kind! The Great Mosque of Hagia Sophia is the largest surviving example of Byzantine architecture. For 1000 years it was once the largest church in the world and decorated with stunning golden mosaics dating back to the 6th century. After lunch, the tour guide will take you to the Asil Efendi with a unique atmosphere and reasonable prices for your purchases. Here you will find exotic spices and herbs, traditional Turkish sweets and coffee, souvenirs and many other goods in souvenir stores and stores. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel. Early in the morning we drive to Gallipoli to visit the battlefields. On the way, we will take a short break at a restaurant area where you can have breakfast and relax before we continue the journey. Upon arrival in Gallipoli, enjoy your lunch break at a local restaurant and relax before heading to the battlefields. Visit the Gabatepe Museum, then the fields with the Ariburnu Cemetery and Anzac Bay, the places where the war began. Continue to the Beach Cemetery, Lone Pine and Chunuck Bair. After the tour, drive to your hotel to check in and enjoy your dinner. Overnight stay in Canakkale.

Dag 4

CANAKKALE - TROJA - PERGAMON - KUSADASI (420 km - 6 uur)

After breakfast, check out and drive to Troy. Visit the famous archaeological and mythological site of Troy, home of the Trojan Horse and Helen of Troy. After the Troy tour, 3-hour drive to Pergamon. First we stop for lunch at a local restaurant and after lunch we take a tour of the magnificent Acropolis of Pergamon. Its impressive temples and library made it a renowned cultural and political center at the time. Pergamon is famous for its jewelry, stones and silver. On the way we visit a jewelry center. Later we arrive in Kusadasi to check into the hotel and have dinner. Overnight stay in Kusadasi.

KUSADASI - EPHESUS - SIRINCE - KUSADASI (55 km - 1,5 uur)

Today after breakfast we set off on a fully guided tour of Ephesus, one of the best preserved ancient sites in the world. Along the way we will visit the Temple of Artemis, Curetes Street, the famous Roman Baths, the Library of Celsus and the Great Theater. After lunch, we visit a place where one of Turkey's oldest arts continues to be performed: a carpet weaving center. We then continue to the Turkish village of Sirince, built in the Anatolian Greek style. The houses on the hillside are all original with their white colors. Sirince Village also has a fantastic reputation for producing some of Turkey's best wines - especially fruit wines. We will visit the vineyards and learn how to make fruit wine with Turkish winemakers. In the evening you will be tested on your knowledge of fruit wine making. On the way, we will visit one of the famous leather production centers of the region where you will have the opportunity to get a good factory price. On this guided tour you will avoid the constant nagging and sometimes bullying that is familiar in Turkey's markets. So you can enjoy the shopping experience while gaining the knowledge of the old craftsmen. Return to your hotel where your dinner will be served. Overnight stay in Kusadasi.

KUSADASI - PAMUKKALE TOUR (190 km - 3 uur)

After breakfast we drive to Pamukkale. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and enjoy your lunch. Afterwards we visit the calcium terraces of Pamukkale (cotton castle) and the ruins of Hierapolis. Afterwards we will visit this natural phenomenon and have the opportunity to lie in the water of the natural springs. You will also visit one of the famous textile factories of Pamukkale.
