Tour program

Day 1

Reizen naar Windhoek

Your journey begins with the flight to Windhoek.
You land in the capital of Namibia and are warmly welcomed by your tour guide at the airport. Windhoek is the cultural, economic and political center and the largest city in the country with a population of around 300,000. During a city tour, we visit the Christuskirche, the Alte Feste, the gardens of the Tintenpalast and the Klein Windhoek district. In contrast to this is the Katutura district, literally "the place where we don't want to live". Back at the hotel, we have time to acclimatize. (A)
We leave civilization behind us and make our way towards Etosha National Park. On the way, we visit a Himba village and learn about the everyday life and lifestyle of the semi-nomadic people. We learn about the significance of their striking red-brown body painting, their special hairstyle and jewelry. The Himbas have remained largely untouched by the developments of the 20th century. They wear traditional leather clothing as well as copper and iron jewelry and still live today as cattle breeders, hunters and gatherers. 390 km (F, A)
The wilderness is calling! We set off early in the morning for our first exciting game drive in the Etosha National Park. The park is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Africa and is home to an impressive variety of wild animals, bird and reptile species. With a bit of luck, we may spot antelopes, elephants, rhinos, lions and perhaps even leopards. Have your camera ready! After an unforgettable day, we return to our accommodation in the late afternoon. (F, A)
Once again, we set off to track down Africa's wildlife. We drive right across the national park along the huge salt pan to the eastern park gate. From here it is not far to our destination for the day: the old mining town of Tsumeb, whose history is closely linked to the ore deposits in the area. 300 km (F, A)
We continue our journey and are amazed at how the surroundings change. We have arrived in the green north. The Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, or "KAZA" for short, is one of the largest transfrontier conservation areas in the world. Our accommodation is idyllically situated between Divundu and Bagani on the banks of the Kavango. We end the day with a relaxing boat trip. Crocodiles, hippos and many water birds live along the banks of the river and accompany us on our journey. At sunset, the sun bathes the Okavango in a play of red colors. 530 km (F, A)
After a leisurely breakfast, we visit the Khwe. The members of the San people give us an insight into their cultural customs. These are in danger of being lost as they are increasingly confronted with the modern urban lifestyle. The Gebeco project of a "Cultural Village" is an attempt to preserve the cultural customs and at the same time create an opportunity for self-sufficiency. In the afternoon, we explore the rapids of the Popa Falls. The Okavango has to overcome these on its way into the delta. If you feel like it, you can also book one of the lodge's optional activities. Game drives in Mahangu National Park and boat trips are offered. 30 km (F, A)
Our drive takes us along the Bwabwata National Park to our lodge on the banks of the Kwando. The rest of the day is at leisure. Enjoy the view from the terrace over the river and take in the tranquillity of nature. 230 km (F, A)
We leave Namibia and enter Botswana via the border post at Kasane. Kasane is situated at the northernmost point of Botswana in the quadrangle formed by the states of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Chobe River forms the north-eastern border of the Chobe National Park and not far from Kasane the Chobe flows into the Zambezi. We end the evening with a sundowner at the pool bar. 260 km (F, A)
Today we explore the unique wildlife for which Botswana is famous. Up to 35,000 elephants live in the savannahs of the Chobe National Park. The herds of buffalo and antelope are also huge. Over 460 different bird species have also been counted in the park. Endless steppes and dense undergrowth are dominated by mighty baobab trees. In the morning we experience a boat trip on the Chobe River and keep an eye out for hippos, elephants and buffalo. In the afternoon, we go on safari in the Chobe National Park with experienced rangers in open four-wheel drive vehicles. We are sure to have numerous photo opportunities. (F, A)
A new day, a new country! We cross the border from Botswana into Zimbabwe. The impressive Victoria Falls await us here. This natural spectacle has truly earned the name "Thundering Smoke". At a width of 1,700 meters, the masses of water plunge thunderously into the depths, forming a fine mist. A visit to the world's largest "water curtain" is impressive. We take a guided tour to see it for ourselves. 80 km (F, A)
You can spend the day as you wish. Relax in your lodge, book one of the activities on offer or explore the area on foot. How about a helicopter flight over the waterfalls? (F, A)
Today it's time to say goodbye. After breakfast you drive to the airport and start your journey home or begin your individual connecting vacation. 20 km (F)
You arrive in Germany in the morning with a wealth of memories. Flight schedule, hotel and program are expressly subject to change. (F=breakfast, A=dinner)
