Departure from Tirana: Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Tirana to Berat, which takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Stop in Belsh Village: On the way to Berat, take a break in Belsh Village to enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The village offers a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for a brief stop to stretch your legs and take some photos.
Arriving in Berat:
Sightseeing in Berat's UNESCO Old Town: Once in Berat, you will begin exploring the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its distinctive Ottoman-era architecture and picturesque streets. Berat is one of the oldest cities in Albania and a true pride of the country's architectural history.
The city is divided into three main neighborhoods: Mangalem, Gorica, and Kala (the Castle). Your tour will start in the Kala district, where you'll embark on a moderately steep walk along a paved path to the Berat Castle, located at the top of the hill. Those who make the climb will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the town and its surroundings.
Onufri Iconography Museum (Optional): Located inside the Cathedral of the Assumption of Santa María, this museum showcases the works of the famous Albanian painter Onufri, known for his beautiful frescoes and icons. It’s a great place to learn about Albania’s religious art history.
