Caño Cristales is een rivier in Colombia gelegen in de Sierra de la Macarena, in het departement Meta. De rivier wordt ook wel "de rivier van de goden", "de rivier met de zeven kleuren", "de regenboog die smolt" en zelfs "de mooiste rivier ter wereld" genoemd. Omdat waterplanten zich op de rivierbedding voortplanten door blootstelling aan de zon, veranderen ze van kleur in een proces dat van groen naar intens rood gaat. Dit geeft het visuele effect alsof je voor een rivier met zeven kleuren staat: rood, roze, geel en groen van de planten; zwart van het oerwoudwater; blauw van de weerspiegeling van de lucht en wit van het schuim van de watervallen.

Dagen 1

Je kennismaking met La Macarena, Caño Cristalitos

Je kennismaking met La Macarena, Caño Cristalitos:

Je vlucht landt halverwege de ochtend in La Macarena. Bij aankomst ontmoet je gids je op het vliegveld en samen wandel je door een paar stadsblokken naar het kantoor van de Cormacarena en de Nationale Parken (toerismebureau van La Macarena). Hier neem je deel aan een verplichte briefing van 30 minuten door een vertegenwoordiger.

Na dit gesprek maak je de korte reis naar je hotel om je koffers af te geven en te genieten van een snelle en typische lunch van de regio voordat je avontuur echt begint.

Afhankelijk van je aankomsttijd en het aantal mensen in verschillende delen van het Nationaal Park zal de vertegenwoordiger van Cormacarena de bestemming toewijzen die je op deze eerste dag kunt bezoeken. Helaas zal Caño Cristales vanwege de aankomsttijd van de vluchten niet tot de opties behoren en kun je genieten van Caño Cristalitos & El Mirador of El Bajo Lozada.

Caño Cristalitos en El Mirador zullen over het algemeen je stop zijn op de eerste dag. Om daar te komen neem je een boot die ongeveer een ½ uur over de Guayabero rivier vaart om bij het startpunt te komen voor de wandeling naar Caño Cristalitos. Het eerste deel van deze wandeling is ongeveer 45 minuten, en bijna recht omhoog waarbij je boomtakken en rotsen gebruikt om je te helpen bij de klim. (Een goede conditie is vereist voor dit deel van de wandeling). Maar eenmaal op de top ontdek je vanaf El Mirador een verbazingwekkend uitzicht van honderden kilometers in alle richtingen op deze uitgestrekte Colombiaanse savanne.

Vervolgens wandel je ongeveer 90 minuten over deze savanne, op zoek naar een prachtige locatie omringd door kleine vijvers die gevuld zijn met dezelfde waterplant (Macarenia clavigera) die in Caño Cristales wordt gevonden. Vandaar de naam Caño Cristalitos, wat een kleinere versie van Caño Cristales betekent.

Na je eerste ervaring met deze prachtige en unieke waterplant is het tijd voor een verfrissende duik en een veel gemakkelijkere wandeling van 60 minuten naar je wachtende boot aan de oever van de rivier.

Om de dag af te ronden ga je terug naar La Macarena om uit te rusten en te genieten van een diner voor het avontuur van morgen.

Dagen 2

Het is dag 2 van je avontuur in La Macarena en eindelijk de dag waarop je de verbazingwekkende Caño Cristales kunt bezoeken.

Je wordt na het ontbijt opgehaald en begint je eerste deel van de reis van vandaag met een boottocht van 20 minuten op de Rio Guayabero voordat je in een 4x4 stapt voor nog eens ongeveer 40 minuten. En dan uiteindelijk een wandeling van ongeveer een uur naar de rivier van zeven kleuren, Caño Cristales!

Bij aankomst wandel je rond om de beste plekjes te vinden voor de perfecte foto en geniet je van een heerlijke duik in deze magische en verfrissende lagunes, gevuld met kristalhelder water, op deze idyllische locatie.

Nadat je hebt genoten van een typische lunch, een bad in de zwembaden en een beetje hebt gemediteerd in dit vredige landschap, begin je aan de terugweg langs de weg die je gekomen bent, met een mix van wandelen, varen en 4x4. Alleen deze keer met een camera vol herinneringen en een stukje paradijs in je hart.

Dagen 3

Na het ontbijt haalt je gids je op bij je hotel voordat je met z'n allen naar de kade gaat voor nog een korte boottocht over de Guayabero rivier. Deze keer duurt de tocht ongeveer 35 minuten in de tegenovergestelde en minder bereisde richting van de vorige dagen.

Als je aan de noordelijke oever van de rivier stopt bij een basisschool, word je begroet met een glimlach en voorgesteld aan je paard voor de volgende rit van 40 min. Volg je een goed gebaand pad, dan doorkruis je landbouwgrond vol vee en reusachtige bomen, over kleine houten bruggetjes en door kleine kloven voordat je aankomt bij een kleine Finca.

Hier stop je voor een verfrissend drankje voordat je te voet verder gaat door nog meer landbouwgrond en een klein stukje Amazonewoud inloopt. Wandelend over houten planken die over de modderige grond zijn gelegd, ga je verder door de mangroven en aan boord van een kleine roeiboot in de Lagune van de Stilte.

Als je 20 minuten door dit overstroomde gebied peddelt, ontdek je palmbomen die in een reusachtige U-vorm zijn gegroeid en andere die een volledige cirkel hebben gevormd. Je gaat voorzichtig van boord en probeert beide voeten uit het water te houden. Hoewel deze lagune de thuisbasis is van vele soorten verse vis en roze dolfijnen, is het ook de thuisbasis van piranha's, pijlstaartroggen en sidderalen.

Je stopt voor de lunch, wat ontspanning in een hangmat terwijl je luistert naar de geluiden van de natuur, en een spelletje Tejo, (een traditioneel Colombiaans spel dat je overal zult ontdekken). Je vervolgt je weg door de lagune naar meer mangroven en een wandeling van 30-40 minuten door meer Amazonewoud. Terwijl je luistert naar het geschreeuw van apen in de verte en modderige kloven oversteekt via bruggen die zijn gemaakt door 3 bamboestokken aan elkaar te binden en een los touw als leuning, zul je glimlachen in de wetenschap dat je echt een unieke reis beleeft die maar weinig anderen hebben meegemaakt.

Als je bij een opening komt, ontdek je een finca die je snacks en een koel drankje aanbiedt voordat je gaat zwemmen in deze prachtige locatie. In tegenstelling tot de lagune is de rivier hier gevuld met zoetwatervissen die je niet zullen opeten, maar gewoon om je heen zullen zwemmen terwijl je afkoelt van de tropische hitte. Omringd door fruitbomen wordt deze finca elke dag bezocht door apen voor hun ontbijt, lunch en diner. Je hebt dus bijna gegarandeerd een zitplaats op de eerste rij bij het voeren voordat je te paard teruggaat naar je wachtende boot op de Guayabero rivier, en terug naar je hotel vol met nog meer prachtige herinneringen.

Begin aan de opwindende vierde dag van je La Macarena avontuur terwijl je een ander pad volgt met verschillende uitzichtpunten naar de prachtige Caño Cristales, ondergedompeld in een adembenemend natuurpanorama.

Duik in de ongerepte zwembaden voor een verfrissende duik, geniet van een verrukkelijke typische lunch en geniet van momenten van rustige meditatie te midden van deze serene omgeving voordat je terugkeert naar het hotel. Er wacht je een dag vol ontzagwekkende landschappen en verjongende ervaringen!

Caño Piedras en terug naar de werkelijkheid

Caño Piedras en terug naar de realiteit:

Je wordt wakker voordat de vogels beginnen te zingen en klimt naar het dak van het El Mirador hotel om te genieten van een van de mooiste zonsopgangen die Colombia te bieden heeft. De zonsopgang in Los Llanos is gewoonweg fantastisch, met uitzicht over de uitgestrekte vlaktes zie je het felle rode licht langzaam door de donkere lucht pieken, gevolgd door een langzaam brandend oranje dat de horizon omhult.

Voordat je op het vliegtuig terug naar de werkelijkheid springt, heb je nog tijd voor een laatste verkenning van deze omgeving. Dus ga je terug naar beneden om te ontbijten voordat je vertrekt naar Caño Piedras. Voordat je aankomt in dit paradijs voor vogelliefhebbers, maak je een stop om een boom te planten en je stempel te drukken op deze prachtige bestemming.

Bij aankomst in Caño Piedras word je begroet door een aantal lokale vogels, waaronder enkele Ara's en papegaaien die erg fotogeniek zijn. Vervolgens maak je een korte wandeling door de savanne naar een aantal prachtige natuurlijke poelen die perfect zijn voor een ontspannen duik (als de tijd het toelaat).

Je hebt tijd voor een paar foto's voordat je teruggaat om je koffers op te halen en snel naar het vliegveld te gaan voor je vlucht terug naar Bogotá tegen lunchtijd met weer een geweldig avontuur op je bucketlist.

By placing a booking with BnB Colombia, Inc. you (the client) and your booking party agree to all of the following terms, conditions, and policies as set out below. During any of the tours, you agree to abide by the subsequent conditions as set out below. If you have any questions about booking with us, please contact us before making a reservation.

Traveling Details Form:

Prior to accepting any reservation, we require all travelers to complete our Travelers Details Form. All sections must be completed and a copy of each traveler’s passport photo page must be provided (can be in black and white).

Why do we ask for this?

Colombian regulations require hotels, tour operators, and travel agencies to keep a copy of customers’ passports on file and to provide them to authorities on request. Without this documentation, we may not be able to honor your reservation.

For example, if the transportation is stopped by police, the driver must know who they are transporting, and to be able to provide the information to the police at this time.

Foreign residents are also exempt from a 19% IVA (VAT) tax.

By providing a valid overseas passport we do not charge this 19% IVA tax.

Without this documentation, we are required to charge you this tax.

Payments and Service Fees:

Private Package Tours: At the time of booking a 30% deposit is required to guarantee your reservation and tour date. The remaining balance is to be paid 60 days before the tour start date.

Group Package Tours: At the time of booking a 30% deposit is required to guarantee your reservation and tour date. The remaining balance is to be paid 60 days before the tour start date.

Changes to Tours:

We reserve the right to make small changes during your tour or prior to your tour date. This may be caused by extreme weather, safety or health concerns, traffic delays, changes to operational hours of experiences and destinations, other logistical issues, or just recommendations from previous clients that will improve your experience. You will be advised of any changes that may be made.

After payment has been received, you may request changes to your itinerary. If available, these changes will be provided with an additional cost that must be paid prior to the tour date. Changes to your itinerary cannot be requested after the tour start date.

If a tour finishes early, any additional experiences requested will require an additional payment.

If time permits during transfers small stoppages are permitted for photos or bathroom breaks.

Longer stops of 15 minutes or more will require an additional payment unless pre-arranged in the itinerary.

Additional tours during the process of a transfer are not permitted.

Photos taken during Tours:

We reserve the right to use any photos and or videos taken during transfers or tours in future social media posts or in the publication of our tours. These photos and or videos may or may not include travelers. If you do not wish to be included in any photos or videos please put this in writing to your destination expert or email [email protected].

Cancellation, Non-Arrival (No-show), and Refund Policy:

All cancellations must be made in writing to [email protected] and will not be accepted via telephone. In case of a cancellation or change to plans already booked, we advise clients to contact us immediately for a solution, however, cancellation fees may apply.

Day Tours & Private Transfers:

If you wish to change or cancel your reservation for any reason 72 hours or more prior to the start of your tour or transportation you will receive a full refund, which will be provided within 7 working days.

If you wish to change or cancel your reservation for any reason less than 72 hours prior to the start of your tour or transportation you will lose the complete value of your tour and/or transportation.

“No Shows” will lose the complete value of your tour and/or transportation.

Private Package Tours:

All deposits are 100% non-refundable (Lifetime credit available).
“No Shows” will lose the complete value of the tour(s).
Free date changes for any reason 61 days or more prior to the start of your Private Package Tour. Except for any non-refundable expenses incurred by BnB Colombia Tours, such as flights and accommodation.
If you cancel your reservation for any reason 61 days or more prior to your scheduled Private Package Tour start date, you can be reimbursed the full cost of your Private Package Tour minus the non-refundable deposit of 30% of the Private Package Tour cost + the costs of any non-refundable expenses incurred by BnB Colombia Tours, such as flights and accommodation. After any non-refundable expenses are removed, the deposit shall be held as a Lifetime Credit for you!
If you wish to change your reservation for any reason less than 61 days prior to the start of your Private Package Tour, a 50% re-booking/cancelation fee will be assessed and required to confirm any changes + the costs of any non-refundable expenses incurred by BnB Colombia Tours, such as flights and accommodation.
If you wish to cancel your reservation for any reason less than 61 days prior to the start of your Private Package Tour, you will lose the complete value of your Private Package Tour minus the non-refundable deposit of 30% of the Private Package Tour cost + the costs of any non-refundable expenses incurred by BnB Colombia Tours, such as flights and accommodation.

Your Personal Details & Privacy

To keep our prices as low as possible (residents of foreign countries are not required to pay IVA for accommodation, transportation, or tours) and for security reasons, we keep a register of all persons who stay with us and/or book tours through our website, this includes the full names, nationality, home addresses, telephone numbers, and copies of passport photo pages, and passport numbers. These records are kept for a minimum of 12 months.

This information may also be used for the purposes of marketing, understanding our client base, and improving our services to the general public.

Our policy surrounding the personal details you provide as part of any booking or inquiry through this website / or a third-party website, including the privacy of those details is explained and set out in our Privacy policy.

Liability and Travel Insurance

BnB Colombia Tours Inc. accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, accident, injury, sickness, or schedule change due to weather, strike, natural disaster, or any other cause beyond our control. Including any default or delay caused by any guide, tour, or transport provider, or any other person’s or company’s acts. BnB Colombia Tours reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries, or departure times, without prior notice, should the necessity arise. In the case of any changes to flights or to scheduled ground travel, you are responsible for additional costs incurred as a result of such changes. We, therefore, advise all travelers it is mandatory for you to obtain comprehensive travel insurance to meet all contingencies. This insurance must cover personal injury and emergency medical expenses. You are strongly recommended to extend your coverage to include cancellation, curtailment, and all other expenses that may arise due to loss, damage, injury, delay, or inconvenience while traveling. You acknowledge that insurance coverage is not included in the cost of any tour offered by BnB Colombia Tours, and you are required to obtain separate coverage at an additional cost. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient coverage and comply with the terms of the applicable insurance plans. You are responsible for advising your insurer of the type of travel, destination(s), and activities included in your booking so that the insurer may provide appropriate coverage.

Our Right To Cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel any booking without compensation, refund, or reimbursement if the terms of these conditions are breached.

We reserve the right to remove any person without compensation, refund, or reimbursement from a shared group tour for operational issues.

Private Package Tour: A multi-day private tour that includes multiple tours with a duration of more than 1 day.

Group Package Tour: A multi-day package tour shared with other travelers that may have booked separately to you. It includes multiple tours with a duration of more than 1 day.

Also referred to as a shared tour

Transportation: The service of transporting a person(s) from one location to another location. May include car, bus, van, plane, 4×4

Accommodation: The location a person(s) may sleep. May include hostel, hotel, Finca, farm, private residents, shared rooms, and private rooms.

Free Date Changes: There is no service fee for providing the changes to the dates of your private day tour if made at least 48 hours before the tour start date.

There is no service fee for providing the changes to the dates of your private package tour if made at least 31 days before the tour start date.

There is no service fee for providing the changes to the dates of your group package tour if made at least 65 days before the tour start date.

All non-refundable expenses incurred by BnB Colombia tours, such as flights, accommodation, pre-paid transportation, pre-paid guides, pre-paid experiences, and pre-paid tours will be assessed and required to confirm any changes.

Lifetime Credit: Credit with BnB Colombia Tours that is equal to the value of the deposit of your package(s), or day tour(s) until such time as you decide to enjoy it.

Excludes non-refundable expenses incurred by BnB Colombia tours, such as flights, accommodation, pre-paid transportation, pre-paid guides, pre-paid experiences, pre-paid tours, + 5% of the package tours value to cover the salary costs of BnB Colombia Tours employees.
