Excursie van een hele dag naar Lago del Desierto & Vespignani gletsjer
Ons avontuur begint om 7:00 uur met het ophalen van het hotel door onze medewerkers.
Tijdens de reis krijg je een informatieve audiogids die de prachtige landschappen en de rijke geschiedenis van de regio belicht. We rijden ongeveer 30 km naar het oosten en nemen de legendarische Route 40 naar het noorden, langs de oostelijke oever van het Argentino meer en de Santa Cruz rivier.
Er wacht je een korte stop bij de La Leona rivier en de historische La Estela ranch en herberg. Hier kun je je benen strekken en genieten van een warm drankje met zelfgemaakt gebak (optioneel).
Als we verder gaan richting El Chaltén, beginnen de panoramische uitzichten zich te ontvouwen. We pauzeren voor fotomomenten van het Viedma meer, de Viedma gletsjer en de iconische toppen van de Mount Fitz Roy (Cerro Chaltén) en Cerro Torre.
Tegen 10:00 uur, na 220 km afgelegd te hebben, bereiken we het Los Glaciares National Park en het pittoreske stadje El Chaltén, bekend als Argentinië's "Nationale hoofdstad van trekking."
We volgen dan Provincial Route 23 richting Lago del Desierto. Na een rit van 37 km komen we aan bij de zuidpunt van het meer, met schilderachtige stops onderweg.

Na de lunch en wat tijd om te ontspannen in deze magische omgeving, beginnen we onze afdaling terug naar El Chaltén en keren we 's avonds terug naar El Calafate.
Nautische Safari - Perito Moreno gletsjer boottocht

Deze onvergetelijke boottocht van een uur begint in Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, gelegen op slechts 7 km van de Perito Moreno gletsjer. Gasten moeten op eigen gelegenheid in de haven aankomen en aan boord gaan van een comfortabel vaartuig om over de Rico Arm van het Argentinomeer te varen, wat een adembenemend uitzicht biedt op de zuidkant van de Perito Moreno gletsjer.
Vanaf het water ben je getuige van torenhoge ijswanden en drijvende ijsbergen die uit de gletsjer zijn afgekalfd, allemaal in constante beweging. De boot stopt op ongeveer 400 meter van de zuidwand van de gletsjer, zodat passagiers de ongelooflijke ijsformaties en dramatische afkalvingen kunnen observeren, waarbij enorme brokken ijs in het meer storten.
Deze tocht is geschikt voor alle leeftijden en gaat 365 dagen per jaar door. Het is perfect voor diegenen die de omvang en magie van Patagonië's meest iconische gletsjer volledig in zich op willen nemen vanuit een heel ander gezichtspunt

Minitrekking op de gletsjer van Perito Moreno

Deze onvergetelijke ervaring begint met een pick-up van je accommodatie in El Calafate (met enkele uitzonderingen - zie opmerking hieronder). Terwijl we in de richting van het Los Glaciares National Park reizen, vertelt je gids interessante feiten over de gletsjer en de regio.
Bij Puerto Bajo de las Sombras (Ruta 11, Km 70) gaan we aan boord van een boot om de Rico Arm van het Argentinomeer over te steken, waar we na 20 minuten varen recht voor de spectaculaire zuidwand van de Perito Moreno gletsjer aankomen.
Bij het van boord gaan leiden deskundige berggidsen je naar een gezellig basiskamp met een bevoorrecht uitzicht op de gletsjer. Vanaf daar beginnen we het avontuur met een korte wandeling langs de oever van het meer en genieten we van mogelijke uitzichten op ijsafkalvingen.
Eenmaal aan de rand van de gletsjer krijg je stijgijzers en helmen op. In kleine groepen (max. 20 per groep, met één gids per 10 personen) krijg je een veiligheidsbriefing voordat je het ijs op stapt voor een ongeveer 1,5 uur durende gletsjerwandeling. Het terrein is oneffen maar stabiel, waardoor je diepe kloven, helderblauwe moulins, torenhoge seracs en turquoise poelen kunt verkennen.
Na de gletsjertocht gaat de tocht verder langs de laterale morene en in het weelderige Patagonische Andesbos, waarbij je een volledig wandelcircuit van 3 uur aflegt met paden langs de oever van het meer, het ijs, de morene en het bos.
Terug bij de berghut krijg je een warme drank en een souvenir aangeboden voordat je terugkeert met de boot over het meer. De dag eindigt met een bezoek aan de panoramische promenades van de gletsjer, waar je vrije tijd hebt om de uitzichtpunten te verkennen die uitkijken over de enorme wanden van de gletsjer.
