Routebeschrijving

Vandaag brengen we je rechtstreeks naar het Pacific Central Station (1150 Station Street, Vancouver, BC) om aan boord te gaan van de VIA Rail. De trein vertrekt om 15:00 uur en de reis leidt je weg van de drukte van de stad. Naarmate de trein verder rijdt, verandert het landschap van schemering in nacht. Het maanlicht dat weerkaatst op de Fraser Valley creëert een unieke sfeer, en later rijd je door Granville naar Jasper Town in het Rocky Mountain National Park.


**Afspraaktijd van het hotel naar het VIA treinstation, gelieve één dag voor vertrek van de trein te verifiëren met de reisleiding.

**VIA Rail vertrekt vanaf 15:00 uur naar Jasper. Controleer de vertrektijd met VIA rail (1-800-6812561).

Columbia Icefield adventure Ice explorer and Skywalk (Optional): 

Explore the Columbia Icefield, the largest ice mass in the North American Rockies south of the Arctic Circle. You can choose to ride the massive, specially-designed Snocoach (Ice Explorer) directly onto the Athabasca Glacier surface. Next, enjoy a breathtaking view of the glacier from The Glacier Skywalk. It is one of the most bizarre feats of engineering to get the grade of a train line to be at or below 2.2%. The current two spiral tunnels where the railroad forms two spirals, crossing beneath itself twice, almost forming a figure eight, before continuing in the proper direction down the mountain were completed in 1909. Emerald Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Yoho National Park in the Canadian Rockies. Meltwater from surrounding glaciers carries fine rock particles, called glacial rock flour, into the lake.
