Ga dan met ons mee naar de droomachtige Pfalz, waar een stevige keuken en mediterrane sfeer elkaar ontmoeten en historisch belangrijke architectuur en levendige steden elkaar ontmoeten. Bij aankomst in het pittoreske Neustadt an der Weinstraße duik je meteen de Pfalz in. Vier het begin van je vakantie met een glas koele Riesling, je bevindt je tenslotte midden in het grootste Rieslinggebied ter wereld. De eerste etappe voert je via de kathedraalstad Speyer naar Germersheim. De middeleeuwse vesting met zijn grote vestingmuren kenmerkt vandaag de dag nog steeds het stadsbeeld.
Voordat je op dag 3 naar de Neckarstad Heidelberg rijdt, moet je een langere stop maken bij kasteel Schwetzingen en de prachtige kasteeltuinen bekijken. Hier opent zich een waar smörgåsbord van culturen: een tuinmoskee, Franse en Engelse invloeden en de Japanse kersenbloesem die het terrein elk voorjaar in een zee van bloesem verandert. Tijdens de rest van de tour ontdek je onder andere de vakwerkhuizen in Ladenburg en de kathedraalstad Worms.

De 20 tot 50 km lange etappes van de tocht zijn al met al goed te fietsen. De fietspaden zijn goed ontwikkeld en meestal vlak, alleen de wijngaarden zijn van nature heuvelachtig.

Today, you will cycle on pleasant ways from the vineyards, through the Rhine valley, to the cathedral city of Speyer with its medieval city centre. Then, you will follow the river Rhine to Germersheim, where you can visit a fortress from the 19th century.

Germersheim - Heidelberg ca. 50 km
Enjoy the nature along the ancient Rhine channels and follow them until you reach Schwetzingen, where you can marvel at the royal palace and the beautiful park. The tour will continue through the Rhine valley to Heidelberg, home of Germany’s oldest university. Visit the famous castle and the unique old town directly on the river Neckar.

Heidelberg - Worms ca. 45 km
Follow the river Neckar to Ladenburg. The many half-timbered houses create a unique atmosphere. You will cycle through vast forest areas in the Rhine valley to the ancient imperial city of Worms with its legendary cathedral.

Worms - Bad Dürkheim ca. 40 km
You will leave the Rhine valley and cycle on the German wine route into the second largest wine region in Germany. You will experience wine culture in small and large wine villages, get to know the history and stories of the times of the Romans until today and taste very good Pfalz wine.

Today, you will have much time to enjoy yourself in the beautiful wine villages with their unique atmosphere. You will visit Deidesheim and cycle via the region called “Balcony of the Pfalz” to Neustadt.
