De Mardi Himal Trek ligt in de Annapurna regio van Nepal en biedt trekkers een off-the-beaten-path ervaring met adembenemende uitzichten en een vredige sfeer. Vergeleken met de bekende tochten naar het Everest Base Camp en het Annapurna Base Camp is het een relatief nieuwe en minder drukke trekkingroute, waardoor het perfect is voor diegenen die op zoek zijn naar rust en een sterkere band met de natuur.
De tocht begint meestal in Kande en voert via charmante stadjes, weelderige bossen en alpenweiden naar het hooggelegen Mardi Himal basiskamp. Een belangrijke attractie van de wandeling is het weidse uitzicht op veel van de meest herkenbare Himalaya toppen, zoals Annapurna, Machapuchare (Fishtail) en Mardi Himal.
Het pad loopt door verschillende omgevingen, van rotsachtig, moeilijk terrein dicht bij het basiskamp tot weelderige rododendronbossen op lagere hoogten. Trekkers worden gedurende de hele route getrakteerd op adembenemende uitzichten bij zonsopgang en zonsondergang als de besneeuwde toppen schitteren in het zachte licht.
Door de gemiddelde moeilijkheidsgraad kunnen zowel beginnende als gevorderde wandelaars de route afleggen. De route biedt niet alleen mogelijkheden voor interactie met de Gurung en Magar culturen, maar is naast het adembenemende landschap ook een culturele ervaring.
Het Annapurna Conservation Area, waar de Mardi Himal Trek plaatsvindt, staat bekend om zijn grote biodiversiteit en het zien van zeldzame planten en dieren. Voor wie op zoek is naar een compactere maar toch bevredigende Himalaya-ervaring, kan de hele tocht in 8 tot 9 dagen volbrengen.
Our agent will meet you at the airport in Kathmandu when you arrive in Nepal. After that, our agent will drive you to the Kathmandu hotel, where you will stay.
You will receive information about the Mardi Himal Trek at a trek briefing session that is organized in the evening by our tour manager and trek guide.
If you still need to carry hiking gear and necessities, you may buy them after the session. You can also talk with our trek guide about the appropriate gear to purchase for this journey.
We're going to drive to Pokhara, the city of lakes, leaving the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu behind. Traveling by tourist-standard bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara is a pleasant and picturesque experience.
Enjoy views of mountains, terraced farms, rivers, waterfalls, and beautiful hills throughout the route. Enjoy the sunset at Phewa Lake in the evening and visit Pokhara's Lakeside Market.
It's a lovely trip from Pokhara to Kande. Along the route, you will see vistas of snow-capped mountains and rural areas. Trekking begins at Kande and proceeds through verdant hills and woods.
The path leads to the Australian Camp and on to Ponthana from there. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna range while traveling. The route climbs to Pitam Deurali from Pothana.
The route continues through dense trees and joins the Annapurna Sanctuary. The trail you'll be taking is somewhat remote and largely through forests of maple, hemlock, oak, and rhododendron. The route eventually leads you to Forest Camp after a pleasant stroll. Another name for Forest Camp is Kokar.
Following roughly an hour of hiking, the route passes the Low Camp and the trees begin to thin out with bushes.
To the left is the Annapurna range, while to the right is Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,997 m). Up till we reach High Camp (3,550 m), the route offers an enticing view of the solitary red rhododendron trees and a vast biodiversity.
We will reach Mardi Himal Base Camp, the highest point of our walk, on this day. Set out early on a steep, narrow route to begin hiking.
The route heads uphill to the base camp over a precipitous slope. The views of numerous other mountains, including Fishtail, Hiunchuli, Annapurna, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri, are amazing from this location.
After taking some time to take in the scenery, we'll start the hike down to Low Camp. The path is exactly the same as it was.
We will trek to Siding village from Low Camp. In this village, we shall witness the mountain people's varied customs and way of life.
To go to Pokhara, you'll board a shared vehicle. You will have free time in the evening to explore the beautiful lakeside surroundings or go boating on Fewa lake in Pokhara.
After breakfast, you will travel to Kathmandu on a luxurious tourist bus that travels the Prithvi Highway from Pokhara.
Traveling 210 kilometers takes 7 to 8 hours, depending on traffic. As you go, you will discover a variety of scenery and bustling bazaars in places like Damauli, Dumre, Mugling, etc.
You will be there for the celebration that will mark the successful completion of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek in the evening.
On your final day in Nepal, we will drop you at the airport for your international flight to go home or other destinations.
Booking of a Trip
To ensure the booking of a trip with us, you will have to deposit 20% of the total cost in our bank account. We will forward you our bank details when you are ready to book. Once we receive the deposit, we will confirm your booking for you desired trip.
The balance amount of the trip is payable upon your arrival in Kathmandu on the first day.
Payment
While you can bank transfer on pay online the advance deposit, the balance can be paid either in cash or by card on the first day of the trip in Kathmandu. We accept cash in USD or other convertible currency and also the payment by visa or master cards.
Travelers Cheque, however, is not accepted.
Trip Cancellation
The trip once booked is guaranteed to depart. But Approved Holidays reserves all rights to cancel the trip without prior consent of the client. However, there is less chance of cancellation from our side unless we go through any unforeseeable and uncontrollable situation like natural disasters and troubles.
We will inform you of any such situation and discuss with you to plan the trip for some next possible date. But if you do not want to continue in such situation, we will refund you the deposited amount which may take some time because of our current banking policy. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in such situation.
But if you cancel the trip, for any reason, we will not be able to refund you the deposited amount. If there appears the situation where you will not be able to travel as scheduled, you can definitely talk to us to postpone the trip for another date. We will schedule the trip for another date for the same deposited amount. However the total cost of the trip may differ depending upon the time of the year that you postpone the trip to. The difference in cost is just a possibility.
Travel Insurance
Insuring you travel is for your convenience and safety. Travel Insurance can prove highly helpful and beneficial in time of need, especially while you are travelling. We highly recommend that you buy a travel insurance policy before you travel to Nepal on any of our trip. While most of our holidays are soft adventures indulging in culture, nature, and spirituality, you may like to enjoy some optional adventure activities.
Having travel insurance will keep you comfortable in time of need. To cover you against your possible accident, death, sickness, evacuation, repatriation, loss of your luggage etc., you will need to buy an insurance that covers all these categories.
Itinerary
While our itineraries are customizable before the time of booking, we will not be able to bring major changes on it once the trip is confirmed and is near to the departure date. However, we will try our best to do whatever we can to change it to suit your interest if there is any need to do so. But we cannot guarantee that the major changes can take place.
We operate our tours in association with other local partners like hotels, airlines, buses and other service providers. And any major changes that you request near the departure date are the subject to availability.
