Reisprogramma

Dag 1

Het avontuur begint in Kathmandu

Begin your adventure at the Royal Singi Hotel in Kathmandu, the start point for many Himalayan trekkers over the years. Around 6pm, bid namaste to your tour leader and fellow travellers, when we gather as a group for the first time to get to know each other and learn more about the adventures ahead during a full trek briefing. Your tour leader then ensures a big Nepalese welcome by arranging an optional group dinner (which is included for all in 2026). Rest up, we begin our trek to Everest Base Camp tomorrow. Want to explore Kathmandu further? Secure pre-tour hotel nights through your sales representative. Accommodation: Royal Singi Hotel (or similar)
Dag 2

We have a very early start this morning to drive (approximately four hours) to Manthali Airport (RHP) where all Lukla flights now operate from. We leave our hotel at approximately 3am to ensure we arrive in Manthali in time for the first morning flights to Lukla. The hotel provides a packed breakfast for the journey. We then fly to the mountain airstrip of Lukla (9,190ft/2,800m), and set off on the first short leg of our trek, heading north up the valley of the Dudh Kosi (Milk River). We descend from the small plateau into the forested valley. The trail offers tantalising views of green, hilly terrain before reaching the settlement of Phakding, where we spend our first night. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 8,701ft/2,652m)
Dag 3

Heading out of Phakding, we follow the Dudh Kosi north. Today’s walk takes us through magnificent forests with glimpses of the mountains ahead. We cross the river several times by bridge as we pass through the villages of Benkar, Monzo and Jorsale. A final bridge brings us to the foot of the steep climb to Namche. Halfway up the ascent, we may get our first glimpse (cloud permitting) of the Everest summit behind the great ridge of Nuptse-Lhotse. A last 985ft (300m) climb brings us to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital and the main town in the area, which get can explore properly on our return from Base Camp. Namche is a prosperous Sherpa town and an important trading centre. It has a weekly market on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, but the town always bustles with trekkers, coffee shops, bakeries and stores selling all kinds of trekking and climbing gear and Tibetan souvenirs. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 11,285ft/3,440m)
Dag 4

We climb steeply out of Namche past the airstrip at Shyangboche to the Everest View Hotel, the highpoint of our day at 12,730ft (3,880m). Built by the Japanese, this spectacularly situated hotel with wonderful views of Everest and Ama Dablam is an ideal place for a tea break. En route to the Everest View Hotel, you have the option to stop at the Sagarmatha Next experience centre and learn about the work this local organisation is doing to tackle waste pollution on the mountain trails and how you can help. Descending through forest, we come to Khumjung, where we have lunch close to the Sir Edmund Hillary School. After, we walk up to Kunde and visit the Edmund Hillary Hospital. The twin villages of Kunde and Khumjung are below Khumbila, the rocky peak sacred to all Sherpas. For much of the walk, we have great views of Ama Dablam and other Himalaya giants. We walk back down through Khumjumg to the monastery. Sadly, it was damaged in the earthquake but is now being repaired. Inside is a small box and, after paying the entry fee (which goes towards the repairs), we are shown the only yeti skull in the world. Descending to the main trail, we spend the night at Kyanjuma. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 11,810ft/3,600m)
Dag 5

This morning, we descend to the river. We cross at the little settlement of Phunki Thangkha (10,665ft/3,250m), then climb steeply through the forest to Thyangboche (12,867ft/3,867m). We arrive by lunchtime and visit the famous monastery in the afternoon. The sunset and sunrise over the mountains is not to be missed – Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam provide a wonderful backdrop to our teahouse. Look out for Himalayan tahr, a native wild goat, in the forest surrounding the monastery. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 12,700ft/3,870m)
Dag 6

We descend through the forest to Devoche and, a little further on, cross the rushing Imja Khola, whose valley we now follow. Climbing steadily, the trail enters Pangboche (12,795ft/3,900m), the highest permanent settlement in this valley. Ascending, we have lunch at Shomore, after which we leave the trees and cross a wooden bridge at the confluence of the Khumbu and Imja rivers. A short, steep climb brings us to Dingboche (14,270ft/4,350m), a summer settlement where great peaks surround us. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 14,270ft/4,350m)
Dag 7

We spend the day at Dingboche to continue our acclimatisation. Those adapting well to the altitude can climb Nangkartshang Peak (16,730ft/5,100m) for great views of Makalu, Lhotse, Chalotse, Tawoche and Ama Dablam. There is the option to climb halfway up or, if you’re feeling energetic, it takes about 3hr 30min to the top. It’s a tough, steep climb but well worth the effort for the amazing views. We return to Dingboche for a late lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax and acclimatise. Accommodation: Teahouse
Dag 8

Vervolg van de beklimming naar Lobuje (ontbijt)

The trail climbs steeply out of Dingboche, past a chorten (Buddhist shrine), and ascends the valley gradually to Dugla at the end of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. We stop here for a tea break and snack before the steep climb to Chukpo Lari, a beautiful, poignant place with a line of memorials to climbers who have died on Everest and a beautiful panorama of the peaks on the Nepal-Tibet border. The trail then eases off as we follow the valley to Lobuje, a tiny hamlet with a few teahouses. In the late afternoon, there is the option to walk up onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Sunset on Nuptse is not to be missed. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 16,175ft/4,930m)
Dag 9

We leave early, following the Khumbu Glacier northwards to Gorak Shep (17,008ft/5,184m). The trail rolls up and down along the moraine with some short, steep sections. The trail is rocky as we are now on the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. It takes us about three hours to reach Gorak Shep, where we have a rest and something to eat. In the afternoon, we climb steeply above Gorak Shep to the small peak of Kala Pattar (Black Rock) at 18,192ft (5,545m), from where we can look over the base camps of the various Everest expeditions. This climb affords a magnificent view of the Khumbu Glacier and, above all, a close-up view of the highest mountain in the world. We return to Gorak Shep for the night. Please note, accommodation options are extremely limited at Gorak Shep and the teahouse is very basic, though the communal dining area is warm and the food served promptly to satisfy trekkers’ appetites. Because of the high altitude, the plumbing facilities can be affected and water freezes much of the time. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 17,008ft/5,184m)
Dag 10

We start by walking across the sandy flat at Gorak Shep and climb onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The trail ascends the side of the glacier for a couple of hours before finally descending onto the rocky glacial moraine itself. The trail winds up and down through fascinating ice seracs to the area known as Everest Base Camp. We walk past the Base Camp Rock (17,390ft/5,300m), which is covered in prayer flags and where the normal trekking groups visit, and continue through the rocky moraine into the actual base camp – a significant moment for adventure lovers the world over! We get to our camp by lunchtime and the afternoon is free to gaze in awe at our surroundings. From Base Camp, we get close-up views of the Khumbu Ice Fall and can appreciate just how difficult it is for climbers to negotiate through the huge ice blocks. Nuptse towers above us and Pumori rears behind. Accommodation: Full-service camping (sleeping altitude: 17,715ft/5,400m)
Dag 11

We spend this morning at Everest Base Camp with time to absorb the way of life on expeditions. We have a walk around Base Camp and through some of the ice seracs. Meet Sherpa guides preparing to climb and you may well be able to watch climbers as they ascend the Khumbu Ice Fall and can visit the Everest ER medical tent if it is there and if they are quiet. After an early lunch in camp, we say goodbye to the adventurers ready to climb the mighty mountain as we return to Gorak Shep for the evening. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 17,008ft/5,184m)
Dag 12

Lange afdaling naar Pheriche (ontbijt)

This morning before packing up, you have another chance to get up to Kala Pattar if you didn't manage to make it on day 9. We retrace our steps down to Lobuje for lunch. After a rest, we continue through the valley to the lower altitude of Pheriche for the night. Once we reach the valley bottom, it is an easy walk along into the village of Pheriche. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 13,921ft/4,243m)
Dag 13

Opnieuw naar Kyanjuma (ontbijt)

Descending through Pheriche, we cross a small bridge and have a short climb before descending to join the main Imja Khola valley. We follow the valley down to Pangboche through an alpine meadow landscape. We drop down to the rushing river then walk through peaceful rhododendron forests to the village of Devoche from where we climb back up to Thyangboche on the ridge for lunch. We descend off the ridge to Phunki Tenga and walk back up to Kyanjuma, where we spend the night. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 11,810ft/3,600m)
Dag 14

Afdaling door Namche naar Monzo (ontbijt)

The walk to Namche Bazaar takes us along a beautiful rolling trail high above the Dudh Kosi. We have time in Namche and, after lunch, descend through Namche Bazaar and pick up our outward trail again to Monzo, where we stay tonight. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 9,350ft/2,850m)
Dag 15

Verder naar Lukla (ontbijt)

We retrace our steps to Chaunrikhara, where we start the last climb to the airstrip at Lukla. Accommodation: Teahouse (altitude: 9,185ft/2,800m)
Dag 16

Vlieg naar Manthali; transfer naar Kathmandu (ontbijt)

We fly back to Manthali airport on one of the first flights of the day (approximately 7am to 7.30am) to allow for the five to six-hour bus transfer back to Kathmandu arriving in the city for mid to late afternoon. Accommodation: Royal Singi Hotel
Dag 17

Today is free for sightseeing in Kathmandu (it is also a spare day to allow for any delays in the flights to/from Lukla). You may wish to visit the monkey temple at Swayambunath, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world at Bodnath, or the most important Hindu temple in the valley at Pashupatinath. We offer a full range of sightseeing tours, which can be booked and paid for locally. Please see the Optional Excursions section within the Trip Notes or the Exodus noticeboard in the hotel in Kathmandu. Accommodation: Royal Singi Hotel
Dag 18

Einde avontuur in Kathmandu (ontbijt)

The tour comes to an end after breakfast, so it’s time to start your return journey home. If you’d like a little more time to explore Kathmandu, speak to your sales representative about extending your stay.

You can transfer your booking to another person, who satisfies all the conditions that apply to this booking, by giving us notice in writing at least 7 days before departure provided that the new lead passenger accepts the transfer and these Terms and Conditions. Both you and the new traveller are

responsible for paying all costs we incur in making the transfer. Please bear in mind that certain airlines and other transport providers treat changes as a cancellation and charge accordingly, up to 100% of the cost for that part of the arrangement. Where applicable these charges will be passed on to you.

6. If We Cancel Your Booking

Exodus reserves the right to cancel an itinerary before departure for any reason whatsoever, including too few participants, logistical problems a Force Majeure Event (as defined in Section 8), or any other circumstances that may make operation of the trip inadvisable. All trip payments received will be promptly refunded, and this refund will be the limit of Exodus’s liability without any further obligation on Exodus’s

part. Exodus is not responsible for any expenses incurred by trip members in preparing for the trip, including non-refundable or penalty-carrying airline tickets, special clothing, visa or passport fees, or other trip-related expenses.

7.  If We Change Your Booking

Changes to the price

We can change your holiday price after you’ve booked, only in certain circumstances:

Changes in the price of the carriage of passengers resulting from changes to the cost of fuel or other power sources, the level of taxes or fees imposed by third parties including tourist taxes, landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports, or exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked.

Changes other than the price

It is a term of your booking that we are able to make changes to any aspect of your booking. If the change is insignificant, we will ensure that you are notified about it. Examples of insignificant changes include alteration of your accommodation to another of the same or higher standard.

If we are forced by circumstances beyond our control to alter significantly any of the main characteristics of the travel services that make up your package you will have the rights set out below.

We will contact you and you will have the choice of accepting the change or having a refund of all monies paid. You can also accept an alternative holiday, where we offer one (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). We will tell you the procedure for making your choice. Please read any notification of changes carefully and respond promptly as if you do not respond to us within the timescale given your booking may be cancelled.

If you choose to accept a refund then that is the only liability we have and we will not be liable for any further sums, compensation or otherwise and you are advised to adequately insure yourselves against cancellation for any reason

8. Limitation of Liability; Force Majeure.

Force Majeure: Without limitation, Exodus is not responsible for, and no refunds will be given for, delays or cancellation of all or part of your trip due to causes or circumstances beyond Exodus’s responsibility or

control, including but not limited to act of God; perils of the sea, harbors, rivers, or other navigable waters; act of any governmental or ruling authority; epidemic; collision; stranding; fire; war; hostilities; riots; strikes or labor stoppages; or any other cause or circumstance beyond Exodus’s responsibility or control (a “Force Majeure Event”). For the avoidance of doubt, a Force Majeure Event also includes (a) the occurrence of any pandemic, epidemic or prevalent disease or illness with an actual or probable threat to human life as may be designated or determined by any local, city, county or state governmental entities, as applicable, or the federal government of the United States, the World Health Organization (WHO) or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC); including, without limitation, coronavirus, atypical pneumonia, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), or avian influenza, or (b) adherence to any travel restriction, warning or advisory issued in relation thereto by any local, city, county or state governmental entities, as applicable, or the federal government of the United States, the World Health Organization (WHO) or the

U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), or (c) any quarantine or similar measure taken in relation thereto by any governmental agency or authority to prevent the spread of any communicable disease, or (d) any unavailability of any resources, information or services resulting from any of the foregoing including, without limitation, the unavailability of resources, information or services due to any governmental shut- downs or the unavailability or resources, information or services due to a shut-down, quarantine or similar measure of any third-party service provider whose service or information is relied upon Exodus to operate the trip or otherwise fulfill its obligations under this Agreement.

Any relevant international convention, for example the Montreal Convention in respect of travel by air, the Athens Convention in respect of travel by sea, the Berne Convention in respect of travel by rail and the Paris Convention in respect of the provision of accommodation, which limit the amount of and conditions under which compensation can be claimed for death, injury, delay to passengers and loss, damage and delay to luggage. We are to be regarded as having all benefit of any limitation of the extent of or the conditions under which compensation is to be paid under these or any conventions.

Adventure Travel Warning: We may operate trips in regions where standards of accommodation, transport, safety, hygiene, medical facilities and other infrastructure may, at times, be lower than those you normally expect. Your booking is accepted on the understanding that you realize the hazards involved in this kind of holiday, including injury, disease, loss or damage to property, inconvenience and discomfort. The whole philosophy of this type of travel is one that allows alternatives and a substantial degree of on- trip flexibility. The outline itineraries given for each holiday must therefore be taken as an indication of what each group should accomplish, and not as a contractual obligation on our part. Changes in itinerary may be caused by local political conditions, flight cancellations, mechanical breakdown, weather, border restrictions, sickness, or other unforeseeable circumstances. Pro rata refunds will be given for services not utilized wherever possible. Please note that the timings of air, sea, road or rail departures are estimates only. These timings may be affected by operational difficulties, weather conditions or failure of passengers to check in on time.

Our responsibility does not commence until the commencement of the first service stated in your Booking Confirmation and we shall not be responsible for any additional expenses incurred by you to meet up with the group. If the group arrival is delayed to the local joining point, we will provide you with the same room and board basis as will be provided to the group. If the delay is for more than 24 hours, we will provide you with the same services and itinerary that were detailed on your confirmation to enable you to continue with your holiday, although you may, at your discretion, remain at the local joining point for the arrival of the group. If you are travelling on a Land Only basis or on a Self-Guided holiday, Exodus’ responsibility commences with the start of the first service listed on your Confirmation Invoice.

On certain tours on which our local service providers will on day 1 of the tour ask you to sign an ‘Acceptance of Risk’ form prior to accepting your participation on the tour. Where this is the case details are outlined in the Trip Notes and you may request a copy of the applicable form by contacting us.

Standards of, for example, safety, hygiene and quality vary throughout the transport and destinations that your holiday may involve. Sometimes these standards will be lower than those which would be expected in the US. The suppliers of the services and facilities included in your holiday should comply with local standards where they are provided.

Note: this entire clause does not apply to any separate contracts that you may enter into for excursions or activities whilst on holiday for which liability rests with the excursion provider and not us.

You understand and acknowledge that due to the remoteness of where we travel, emergency evacuation and/or search and rescue may be delayed or unavailable and that medical facilities and supplies may be limited, and you acknowledge that it is your responsibility to assess the impact such limitations may have on any existing medical condition(s). You understand and acknowledge that Exodus reserves the right to accept or reject any participant for any reason, and Exodus or its guide has the right to disqualify you from any trip activity, if in Exodus’s or such guide’s judgment, you are incapable of that activity and/or your continued participation in the tour will endanger yourself or the safety of the group. It is your responsibility and obligation to inform Exodus, at the time your reservation is made, of any medical or physical disability or limitation that might disable you or render you unable to perform or safely complete the tour or any activity on the tour. You further acknowledge that you are the best judge of your own conditions and limitations and that it is incumbent upon you to fully disclose the full extent of any such conditions or limitations to Exodus.

The medical personnel you will be treated by may not speak fluent English and have the same training as medical personnel in your home country. You further acknowledge that an emergency evacuation may be unavailable, expensive and delayed at your location, and that the medical facilities and attention available abroad may be limited. Decisions are made by our staff based on a variety of perceptions and evaluations of the situation at hand. Participant understands and agrees to abide by these decisions.

Furthermore, if you renew your passport after you have booked, you may be required to take your old passport with you to maintain the validity of the permit.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain proper and detailed medical advice at least 2 months prior to travel for the latest health requirements, recommendations for your destination and any costs. You should check this information at least 2 months before departure and again within 14 days of travel. Where you do not do so and either are not allowed to enter any country, or suffer personal injury or death as a result, we have no liability to you for any cost, loss or damage which you suffer, nor will we refund you the cost of any unused portion of your travel arrangements. Clients with existing medical problems, pregnant women and anyone who has recently visited other countries should check requirements with their general practitioner.

Although most travel, including travel to international destinations, is completed without incident, travel to certain destinations such as to the countries to which you will be traveling may involve greater risk than others. Please note that you must wear a seatbelt if one is fitted in the seat and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are wearing a seatbelt at all times during road journeys. If you are travelling with children it is your responsibility to ensure that they are properly wearing a seatbelt and if you suffer from any condition that means you are medically exempt from wearing a seatbelt you must advise us at the time of booking.

On an active group holiday, it is necessary that you abide by the authority of the leader, who represents Exodus, and is there to ensure the safety of you and the whole group. All customers are required to follow the leader’s instructions and advice with regards to any safety measures expected of our customers. This includes, but is not limited to, following instructions during activities.

19. Excursions

For any excursion or other tour that you book, your contract will be with the operator of the excursion or tour and not with us. We are not responsible for the provision of the excursion or tour or for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator.

20. Trip Notes

If we issue detailed Trip Notes for your booking, these Trip Notes and all the information contained therein will be deemed to be part of the contract. Trip Notes are available from our website and contain up-to- date definitive information about the itinerary and travel arrangements. Should there be a discrepancy between the information in the brochure or website and the Trip Notes, the information in the Trip Notes supersedes that in the brochure or on the website and will be considered the most up-to-date and accurate.

21. Mediation/Arbitration

The parties hereto agree that any and all disputes and claims that the each may have against the other that arise out of or relate to the Tour including the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation or validity of these Terms and Conditions, including the agreement to arbitrate(the “Arbitration Agreement”) and the scope or applicability of this Arbitration Agreement (collectively, “Disputes”), including but not limited to the arbitrability of any and all Disputes, will be resolved in a binding, confidential, individual and fair arbitration process as set forth herein, and not in court.

This Agreement evidences a transaction in interstate commerce, and thus the US Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §§ 1-16, governs the interpretation and enforcement of this Arbitration Agreement. This Arbitration Agreement will survive termination of this Agreement.

If either you or Exodus wants to arbitrate a Dispute, the party desiring arbitration must first send by mail to the other a written Notice of Dispute (“Notice”) that sets forth the name, address, and contact information of the party giving notice, the specific facts giving rise to the Dispute, the Expedition to which the Notice relates, and the relief requested. Your Notice to Exodus must be sent by email to [email protected]. We will send any Notice to you at the contact information we have for you or that you provide to us at the time of booking. It is the sender’s responsibility to ensure that the recipient receives the Notice. During the first 45 days after one party sends a Notice to the other, the parties may try to reach a settlement of the Dispute. If the parties do not resolve the Dispute within those first 45 days, either party may initiate arbitration as set forth herein.

Any arbitration between the parties will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (the “AAA”) and will be governed by the AAA’s Commercial Arbitration Rules and the Supplementary Procedures for Consumer Related Disputes (collectively, the “AAA Rules”), as modified by this Arbitration Agreement. The AAA Rules are available online at www.adr.org, or by calling the AAA at 1-800-778-7879. The arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator. If the parties cannot agree on who that single arbitrator should be, then the AAA shall appoint an arbitrator with significant experience resolving the type of Dispute at issue. The arbitrator is bound by the terms of this Agreement. A form for initiating formal arbitration may be found on the AAA’s website at www.adr.org (“Arbitration Form”). In addition to filing this Arbitration Form with AAA in accordance with its rules and procedures, you must send a copy of this completed Arbitration Form to Exodus.

If you are seeking to recover $100,000 or less (exclusive of interest on the sum claimed, cost of arbitration and legal expenses), AAA rules provide that the Dispute should be resolved without a hearing, by submission of documents only. Either party may request a hearing, however, and be responsible for the fees associated with it. If the arbitrator recommends a hearing even if neither party request one, Exodus will pay the arbitrator’s fees associated with the hearing. If the claim is for more than $100,000 (exclusive of interest on the sum claimed, cost of arbitration and legal expenses), the manner and place of the hearing will be in Delaware, USA or as otherwise agreed by the parties or determined in accordance with the AAA Rules, Principles, and Guidelines.

Each party agrees to maintain the confidential nature of any mediation and arbitration proceeding and shall not disclose the fact of the proceeding, any documents exchanged as part of the proceeding, , the agreement, the arbitrator’s decision and the existence or amount of any agreement or award, except as may be necessary to prepare for or conduct the arbitration (in which case anyone becoming privy to confidential information must undertake to preserve its confidentiality), or except as may be necessary in connection with a court application for a provisional remedy, a judicial challenge to an award or its enforcement, or unless otherwise required by law or court order.

22.   Exclusive Governing Law and Jurisdiction

23. Waiver of Jury Trial

In connection with any action or legal proceeding arising out of these Terms and Conditions, the parties hereby specifically and knowingly waive any rights that either party might have to demand a jury trial.

24. Class Action Waiver

These Terms and Conditions provide for the exclusive resolution of disputes through individual legal action on your own behalf instead of through any class action. Even if the applicable law provides otherwise, you agree that any legal action against Exodus whatsoever shall be litigated by you, individually, and not as a member of any class or as part of a class action, and you expressly agree to waive any law entitling you to participate in a class action.

25. Time Limit for Claims

Suit to recover on any such claim shall not be maintainable unless filed within one (1) year after the date of the event giving rise to such claim and unless served on Exodus within 120 days after filing. You expressly waive all other potentially applicable state or federal limitation periods. If a written claim is not made and suit is not filed within the time frame set forth above, then you waive and release any right you may have to make any claim against us arising under, in connection with, or incident to the trip.

26. Severability

If any provision of this Agreement shall be held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not in any way be affected or impaired thereby.

27.   Waiver:

Any failure by either party at any time, or from time to time, to enforce or to require the strict keeping and performance of any of the terms or conditions of this Agreement shall not constitute a waiver of any such terms or conditions and shall not affect or impair such terms and conditions in any way or the right of such party at any time to avail itself of such remedies as it has for the breach or breaches of such terms and conditions.

Reisinformatie

Accommodatie

Sommige lodges hebben warme 'douches' (voor ongeveer 250-500 roepies/US$1,90-US$3,80 per douche).

Valerie won Beste Reisleider in de prestigieuze jaarlijkse Wanderlust World Guide Awards in 2021.
